I only just found out about Golden Kiwis, they are gorgeous.
I can’t stop eating them.

My mother told me about them, I had never even heard of them, I’m at the supermarket now and wondering what else am I missing out on??😁

Raw grated beetroot. Optional - add crushed garlic cloves, grated carrot, grated radish. Eat immediately with balsamic vinegar and sea salt or heavily salt and leave to ferment, i.e. kimchi.

Edit: Add olive oil if eating immediately and if fermenting everything must be completely submerged in liquid.

Peppered smoked mackerel. Especially in a frittata with spinach and mushrooms!

RitaN · 09/06/2024 22:33

Asian style duck jerky from M&S snack isle. It has wonderful umami flavour, much better than your typical beef jerky!

pastabest · 09/06/2024 22:35

Cornichons- I eat them instead of carbs/chips. Currently limiting myself to 3 jars a week.

Sweet chilli houmous

Sriracha mayo and Chipotle mayo

Ketjap Manis

Thai basil

Chestnuts - bought a packet of cooked ones at Christmas in the mistaken but honestly-held belief that I'd do something exciting with them over the holiday and they've been sitting in the cupboard ever since taunting me every time I reach for the coffee. Just made a mushroom and chestnut bourguignon and it's surprisingly not awful.
Alas kiwi and mango make the inside of my face fall off.

Chestnuts make a terrific soup too with fresh sage.

Also with braised beef in a pie filling.

Wingstop chicken wings - Mango Habanero flavour 😂Highly recommend if you like a bit of spice, bloody delicious.

I love them too! can eat a whole pack in one sitting while crying because they are so hot

Coronation mayonnaise. I love it on sweet potato fries ~ a wonderful combination!

I need you all to buy it, please, so it stays on the shelves 😂So many products I have tried for the first time and enjoyed have disappeared . . .

You can always make your own - mango chutney (smooth if you can, or lumps if you fancy!), mayo and the patak paste pot, tikka masala the best. In any ratio you fancy depending on how strong you want it.

The tikka paste pots freeze really well if you don’t use all of it, and mango chutney lasts forever in the fridge unless you eat it all with a teaspoon

Those of you who love gochujang, I bought a tub of doenjang (soy bean paste in the same kind of tub but brown) for a recipe. Then I made ssamjang to go with bulgogi which was a mix of doenjang, gochujang, corn syrup, chopped spring onion, garlic, sesame oil and sesame seeds.

Holy shit it is the most delicious thing I have ever tasted in my life! Salty, spicy, sweet - I ate an entire bag of carrot sticks and about 2 whole cucumbers until it was finished!

starsinyourpies · 09/06/2024 23:16

Where do you get good kimchi from??

Indigobird111 · 09/06/2024 23:20

Za'atar is my latest obsession. It's a Palestinian herb and sesame mix which is savoury and delicious. I use it in all sorts of ways, it's brilliant on hummus and falafels, in salad dressing, sprinkled on cheese on toast. Yum

LateMumma · 09/06/2024 23:24

@SmileyHappyPeopleInTheSun there's lots of different brands on Amazon ☺️

RobinEllacotStrike · 09/06/2024 23:29

Maldon chilli sea salt. 🌶️

I'm now addicted.

Gnomegarden32 · 09/06/2024 23:29

Authentic churros in Spain with the chocolate sauce they serve with them - not too sweet, just amazing.

Homemade celeriac remoulade

That sounds incredible. Where do you get corn syrup?

It's incredible how grating a beetroot completely transforms it. I also love grated beetroot.

Microgreens! All the different spicy tasty shoots. It's my new expensive addiction.

HiFillyJonk · 09/06/2024 23:32

I came here to say kimchi jjigae and see that someone has already mentioned kimchi.

clare8allthepies · 10/06/2024 00:26

@sprigatito I think that this is the one I have, I got it from my local Chinese supermarket so I think it was less than a fiver (and it's a big bottle)

Red ones are even nicer! I actually prefer the green to the gold ones.

Had no idea you could buy it, have you tried mixing curry powder with mayo - just to placate yourself that you can still make it if it dissappears!

Ok I’m not from the UK but just discovered the combination Heinz beans on buttery toast. 😅😂 I could eat it every day.

Have you tried adding some cheese to your beans? Also a fantastic baked potato topping

therealmccoy1234 · 09/06/2024 17:32

Oh yes gochujang and also ketjap manis. Had a couple of hello fresh meals with those and added them straight to my shopping list. They really perk up a stir fry or bit of boring salmon

Look for a nasi goreng recipe 😋. It's meant to be from the cupboard kind of dish so I just scrape around what we have

ErnestCelendine · 10/06/2024 06:38

Tempeh 😋

Burrata …. It’s delicious!

Absolutely! My new favorite sandwich is pesto, mortadella and burrata.
