How do you clean your shower?

Ok, I'm feeling officially old now as it's Saturday night and it doesn't seem that long ago I was getting pissed on cheap pre-nightclub wine, then heading out with friends, full of excitement at what the night might bring.

Now I'm sitting indoors, ( still drinking cheap wine) but full of excitement at the new over-the-bath shower I had fitted today! 🤦‍♀️😳

So anyway - to the question!

How do you clean your showers? Are there any brilliant ready to use products out there, that don't involve me mixing white vinegar, bicarb of soda, wild hamster semen and having the watermarks on the shower screen exorcised?

The shower is chrome, the screen is glass and the tiles are ceramic matt stone effect.

Thank you.

No

Following as had a deeply unsatisfying attempt today with vinegar and washing up liquid, still water marks bloody everywhere.

Watching, because I’ve yet to find this answer. I’m not prepared to clean it after every shower and I don’t want to use harsh chemicals.

How do hotels and rentals keep squeaky clean showers? Their guests don’t squeegie them down after every use!

Soft water.

justasking111 · 08/06/2024 22:30

Nope. I try to remember to swish around the bath and shower screen before I get out. I have a scrub pad on a stick which I use. Unfortunately husband doesn't after his shower. 🤬

ShowerOfShites · 08/06/2024 22:30

Noooo don't make me mix up a hippy potion! Won't someone think of the hamsters? 😭

Chambermaids use towels to polish up everything I am told.

ShowerOfShites · 08/06/2024 22:33

I bought a scrapey blade squeegee thing as someone told me to run that across the screen after every shower.

Not convinced it'll make that much difference though.

Just literal white vinegar for the glass. Nothing else is needed. If it's not been done for a while I wash it first with a sponge and some spray. But usually just vinegar and blue roll.

wibblywobblytummytumtum · 08/06/2024 22:36

We have a water softener which makes a huge difference. That along with Method shower spray and a squeegee after every shower. Still looks good as new but it’s a commitment (from me mainly 🤬)

Abitorangelooking · 08/06/2024 22:45

Method shower spray. Spray it on as you are getting out and it keeps things shiny without scrubbing. I also think it smells divine.

ShowerOfShites · 08/06/2024 22:49

Ok, will try method, thank you!

Method spray daily. Then get a cleaner once a week who does it properly with the karcher vacuum thing. That’s what we do.

BoostBar · 08/06/2024 22:52

Method shower spray & a squeegee wiper thingy.

But I live in a hard water area and so I still have to use Viakal every fee weeks to get rid of limescale, and vinegar spray every few weeks to get rid of mould spots and soap scum.

Bloody showers. So awkward!

1vandal2 · 08/06/2024 22:52

Cif power clean is amazing

Bibbetybobbity · 08/06/2024 23:02

Method shower spray didn’t work for me at all- I’m Team Viakal all the way, that stuff is fab. Mr Muscle shower spray after every shower, viakal once a week for a deeper clean. Love it.

Moveoverdarlin · 08/06/2024 23:04

I use Viakal. Spray it on, rub it with the rough side of a sponge and then spray off and use a squeegee.

ShowerOfShites · 08/06/2024 23:06

Is it ok to use Viakal on the glass?

👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 😂😭😭

Jemimapuddleduk · 08/06/2024 23:10

Either method or M&S leave on shower sprays and a squeegee when I remember! I also use the heavy duty HG stuff on grouting and sealant areas every few months with a toothbrush.

CJ0374 · 08/06/2024 23:11

I used vikadol when I didn't have a water softner and YES- on glass. Sprayed, rubbed it over the glass, left for maybe 1hr then washed off.

I've since moved and have a water softner. Game changer! No water marks or limescale stains in shower, sink or toilet.

buffyslayer · 08/06/2024 23:13

Method. The passion fruit one, not the ylang ylang
My shower is 18 years old and still looks great from using it. I also treat any mould around the sealant as I see it and make sure to use the extractor fan every time

For the glass screen I use a microfiber cloth, soak it in hot water, don't wring it out it needs to be dripping wet, a good dollop of washing up liquid, squish it in my hand so the cloth is foamy then rub over the glass screen, don't rinse it off but wipe it dry with another dry microfiber cloth, you'll be amazed.
For everything else I just use a bathroom cleaner

Crispynoodle · 08/06/2024 23:14

Method shower cleaner and a squeegee

2inabed · 08/06/2024 23:15

I have glass shower doors and use a spray (b&m have a new lemon foam spray) then wipe it the the "rough" side of a minky from b&m then use a green cloth from b&m & I just use any bathroom spray I have in to clean the rest of the shower and a minky. The dettol spray is good for a shine as well.
