BinLolly · 07/06/2024 09:18

Planning DS first proper party he will be turning 5 and having a whole class party. I am looking for some ideas for party bag fillers that have been a hit with kids ages 3-6.

Not looking to include books, seeds or bubbles but any other ideas greatly appreciated.

(From flying tiger but imagine available elsewhere)

There's a great little Etsy shop called World in a Box. Have a look at that. They sell these little themed boxes at super cheap/reasonable prices.

I will find the link for you.

Stick on moustaches were a huge party bag hit recently.

Oh this is exactly why I asked. I would never have thought of this but DS would find them hilarious 😂.

I used to put either a metal toy car or a dinosaur for 3-5 year old boys.

Nouvellenovel · 07/06/2024 18:24

Please don't get slime.
My living room wall had a mark that we couldn't remove until we decorated after dd was given slime.
Horrible stuff.

Caspianberg · 07/06/2024 18:33

I just put sweets/ food in Ds last party bags (4th birthday)

  • dinosaur crisps - mini bags on Amazon.
  • dinosaur kids granola bar thing
  • haribo long snake
  • Haribo mini bag sweet.

Most kids probably ate the contents in the car home, so no plastic clutter for home.

Whinge · 07/06/2024 19:22

OP, your DS sounds like such a sweetheart.

The kids I know are mostly happy with plastic tat, they especially love slap bands, small slinkies and keyrings.

I read a post on MN many years ago which could be useful for those who dislike the plastic tat. A great alternative rather than binning it, is to save it and add it to the Halloween sweets / treat bowl. Small gifts / toys get chosen really quickly, as children love the novelty of something different from sweets / chocolate.

Baboutheocelot · 07/06/2024 19:32

I put super things in one year, they went down well.
Temporary tattoos, mini bag of haribo.
My son really liked a tiny skate board from a party bag recently.

That's a brilliant idea!

Sorry if already suggested, but sweet cones. Buy cones and ties on amazon. Pound shop for sweets. Make them up yourself. They work out cheaper than party bags and are a big hit.

knightsinwhitesatin · 07/06/2024 20:14

Sweets, stickers, tattoos, and I know it sounds lame but I got my daughters friends character socks instead of plastic tat (Pokémon, Disney, marvel, whatever they’re into, you can usually get multi packs in lots of shops) and they actually all liked them, and it’s nice to see them wearing them now and again. Ages 4-7ish

That doesn't sound lame at all, I think it's a great idea!

You can buy pencils that have seeds in them so once they're done you plant the end of the pencil.

Fav party bag fillers for my dc have been
Punch balloon
Light up fidget
Sensory squidgy jelly like toy
Sweets
Slap band
Bracelet
Kinder egg
Glowstick x2 to make a necklace or two bracelets

Soubriquet · 07/06/2024 20:25

Last party I did (my 11 year olds) we did sweetie cones instead of party bags. The kids were very happy with them

Lu1u · 07/06/2024 20:37

Recently I did party bags with punch balloons, glow sticks, mini haribo, stickers/tattoos, mini bubbles (I know you said no bubbles though). like you my child was adamant on having them for his first proper party!

BinLolly · 07/06/2024 20:40

Glow sticks seems to be a popular one and I think he'd really like those can't actually remember if he's ever actually seen one so think he'd find them quite cool.

Animal or super hero Masks
Mini books
Gel pens
Stickers
Those polystyrene aeroplans you have to put together
Spinning top
Small tub of play doe
Small tube of slime

Mummynextdoor · 07/06/2024 20:44

I usually tie my party bag with the theme. Things have been popular:

Inflatable light sabers
Inflatable beach ball
Bucket and spade
Plastic football
Finger lights
Books
Sticker books
Water pistols
Fidgets

sciencemama · 07/06/2024 20:56

On Amazon you can buy a bundle of folding novelty sunglasses for kids... just a thought!

WhyamInotvomiting · 07/06/2024 20:59

My DC is turning 6 soon and her party bags will be:

  • Tiny pack of 4 crayons
  • Roll on lip balm
  • Pack of shiny stickers
  • Balloon
  • Slice of birthday cake
  • Mini packet of cookies
  • A little stamp
  • Possibly a lollypop or pack of refreshers or something too

She didn't have a party for her 5th.

For 4th birthday we had something like this if I remember correctly:

  • Balloon
  • Slice of birthday cake
  • Treat sized chocolate
  • Tiny pot of play dough thingy that is scented
  • Tiny pack of scented crayons
  • Tiny colouring book
  • Tiny bubbles, but I know you said you don't want bubbles
  • Tiny bouncy ball

Search "flick a chicken" - if you buy in bulk they aren't too expensive and if you avoid the mega cheap ones they don't immediately break. Kids (and adults) love these.

Mini playdough pots.

Little craft packs e.g. where the kids paint a plaster sculpture thing and little pots of paint and a brush is included in the kit. My girls love also "Cotton Twist" craft kits which avoid the plastic tat issue whilst being appealing to children.

Stickers.

Glow sticks and punch balloons are always popular.

I'm a bit worried about searching flick a chicken 😂 sounds like it could lead to some very interesting search results. 😆😆
