I can hear 16yr old DS belting out Queen's "Radio Gaga". This makes me very happy, it's my favourite song.

No idea why he's singing it SO LOUDLY though. The neighbours are probably wondering the same...😄

Apart from, like so many others, tinnitus, an owl hooting, some sheep bleating away in the distance and my grandfather clock ticking away like a heartbeat

greengreyblue · 06/06/2024 23:04

Nothing but DH breathing next to me in bed.

SingingSands · 06/06/2024 23:05

Manhattan! God I love that @masomenos thinking of people still going about their day whilst I'm brushing my teeth ready for bed

Peace at last!

NDN has finally run out of expletives to describe her DP's earning deficiencies so I'm off to bed . . . .

Goodnight everyone . . . hope you all have a peaceful night 😴

SingingSands · 06/06/2024 23:06

@AbsolutelyFemale what a performer to see live! Legend!

A tree falling in the woods

SingingSands · 06/06/2024 23:11

What are you doing in the woods at this time of night @coldcallerbaiter ?!

Tinnitus, also.
My stomach gurgling.
Occasionally, a distant passing car.
Tinnitus is loud when you focus on it. Wow.
Shortly, I will put on my noise cancelling headphones (possibly a cause of the Tinnitus) and go to sleep listening to my book.

Needmorelego · 06/06/2024 23:12

@SingingSands chopping the tree down maybe 😂

I've just heard a male tawny owl - the tuwoo call, no preceding female keewik

SleepyTraveller · 06/06/2024 23:17

Ticking thermostat, and a very faint rattling that I think is the ironing board vibrating slightly against the freezer.

Here’s a bit more to flesh it out: we’ve just had Chinese soup dumplings delivered for dinner. I’ve gone for a spicy beef and noodle soup this time. DH is getting ready to go out to basketball training, he’ll eat around 8.30pm. DC have about a week of school left before they break for the summer (3 months!!). It’s hot and humid (thanks to an earlier thunderstorm): just checked, current temp is 28F and 77% humidity! It’s 6.16pm, and soon the sun will be setting over the Hudson River and NJ. After dark this city will light up like it’s Christmas every day. I never tire of it. It’s pretty amazing, really.

Oh, and now the neighbours' TV too

SingingSands · 06/06/2024 23:22

@masomenos thank you - this is awesome!

One of the best evenings I ever spent was at the Top of the Rock at the end of January in 2009. It was pretty quiet, and we watched the sun set and the city start to light up and stayed up there for a couple of hours enjoying it. I often think back to those hours and how I just couldn't tear myself away from watching it all!

@SleepyTraveller we have a ticking thermostat too. I can hear it, but DH can't. He doesn't believe that it ticks 😄

Tinnitus accompanied by the sound of motorbikes racing around our estate ridden by annoying little twerps 😡😤

spiderlight · 06/06/2024 23:26

Tinnitus and my dog snoring.

Catnipcupcakes · 06/06/2024 23:26

Sheep bleating in the field, a pheasant shouting ‘Bock Bock!’ In the garden and the occasional lorry thundering down the road.

masomenos · 06/06/2024 23:27

So many tinnitus sufferers. I’m sorry for you all. I recommend lots of ambient noise to drown it out!

SingingSands · 06/06/2024 23:27

@Warmhandscoldheart sympathies on both counts - hate the sound of twerps on those bikes

My dog snoring, and the washing machine downstairs.

RightOnTheEdge · 06/06/2024 23:29

Alexa playing storm sounds.

Itslookinglikeabeautifulday · 06/06/2024 23:39

My beautiful grandfather clock ticking away dutifully. It was a birthday present to myself a few years ago, which I found on Gumtree. It's far too large for our tiny dining room but I absolute love it.

thaegumathteth · 06/06/2024 23:40

Dh snoring, the cats fighting , DD rolling around in bed and ds is silent. No noise outside.
