Just that really. It could be recent, could be donkeys years old.

A Few of mine are

  • The Thick of It
  • Ashes to Ashes
  • line of duty
  • 2012

Going back a long way but I loved This Life, Queer as Folk and the first episodes of Shameless. Nothing as good has been broadcast this century!

Oh that takes me back to me late teens! Great shows

There was a drama series decades ago (90's?) called Jakes Progress with Robert Lindsay and Julie Walters, written by Alan Bleasdale. It was incredibly dark but I remember being captivated by it. I still think about all these years later.

More recent and a lot more lighthearted: Last Tango in Halifax. It's just perfect.

Hepzibar · 06/06/2024 20:36

Our friends in the North

Oh and yes to Last Tango in Halifax- didn't think I'd like it to be honest but I loved it 🥰

Same I resisted it for years, and then ended up watching it after realising it was the same person who wrote Happy Valley - and fell in love with it.

Bodies by Jed Mercurio (of Line of Duty fame). It's one of those series I still find myself thinking about years later, and I rewatch it every so often.

Prime Suspect, enough said.

Fat Friends, oldie but goodie. I miss when shows used to be about ordinary people.

House - formulaic but fun, the characters are great and High Laurie is fantastic. Total comfort watch and I always go back to fave episodes. I'm off work right now with a broken bone and it's getting me through.

Brass Eye. Both “Drugs” and “Paedogeddon” were amazing examples of great satire which were clever, shockingly controversial, divisive to the point of being incendiary & incredibly funny. Rightly or wrongly, there is no way anything as radical could possibly be made today.

ChainsOfFlowers · 06/06/2024 20:40

Haha I don’t blame you. For someone watching for the first time, I’d say start at series three (you don’t need to have seen those before it).
