Just that really. It could be recent, could be donkeys years old.

A Few of mine are

  • The Thick of It
  • Ashes to Ashes
  • line of duty
  • 2012
OP posts:

When people say The Bridge, which one? The original? I haven’t seen either. Is the original in English?

Agree with everyone else definitely the Swedish/Danish one with subtitles.

JusWunderin · 07/06/2024 08:54

Broadchurch and The Stranger.

SherrieElmer · 07/06/2024 08:59

The Office - UK version
No other show will ever come close to the genius of that show.

BigBoysDontCry · 07/06/2024 09:09

If you don't mind a bit of subtitles, as well as Spiral and The bridge previously mentioned, try The Killing and Borgen and Rita.

TheGreatWoofington · 07/06/2024 09:13

It’s a sin
Ghosts
Stranger Things
Vicar of Dibley
Band of Brothers

TheGreatWoofington · 07/06/2024 09:14

Also Ted Lasso

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/06/2024 09:29

Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister were IMO easily among the funniest, and very clever.
Also loved The Thick Of It.

The original House of Cards was brilliant.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 07/06/2024 09:30

Ditto to The Vicar of Dibley and Father Ted.

Lanawashington · 07/06/2024 10:21

Two of my all time favourites have to be HTGAWM and the Rookie

Househunter16 · 07/06/2024 10:22

Impossible to pick just one, but just off the top of my head:

When I was younger…

ER
Desperate Housewives
This Life
Frasier
Sex and the City

more recently…

Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul - both genius
Borgen
Schitts Creek - again, genius
Call My Agent - French series with English subtitles - brilliant)
and have just finished watching Loudermilk on Netflix. Lovely, quirky and original series. Sad it’s finished.

GentlemanJohnny · 07/06/2024 10:57

UK: Warship (but not the last series) or Sherlock (just the first series).
US: The West Wing.

Timeforanotheraliasnow · 07/06/2024 11:04

Broadchurch
Happy Valley
Blackadder
Chef
Waking the Dead
Line of Duty

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 07/06/2024 11:54

The Expanse
Drop the Dead Donkey (I rewatched it a couple of years ago and it hasn't really dated at all. The politicians' names have changed and the wars are in different locations, otherwise it could be modern day.)
Pride and Prejudice, the Jennifer Ehle/Colin Firth version
Northern Exposure

Iwashappyinthehaze · 07/06/2024 16:22

paisley256 · 06/06/2024 22:42

In Treatment- Gabriel Byrne as psychotherapist Paul Weston is brilliant.

I enjoyed that too @paisley256 . What did you make of the more recent season with a different therapist?

user73 · 07/06/2024 17:51

Dark is hands down the best thing ever to have been made. It’s just phenomenal

Instantcustard · 07/06/2024 17:58

I have limited time and hate overly long series. (Gave up on Money Heist when I saw how long it was) series that have kept me gripped:

  • Chernobyl
  • Orange is the new Black
  • Breaking Bad
  • Better Call Saul
  • The Good Wife
  • Shtisel
  • Call my Agent
  • Shardlake
heartsinvisiblefury · 07/06/2024 18:00

Schitts Creek
Mad Men

heartsinvisiblefury · 07/06/2024 18:01

and

Mum

heartsinvisiblefury · 07/06/2024 18:02

Also

The Bridge and Spiral - both outstanding

FortunataTagnips · 07/06/2024 18:18

Forgot to mention two more:
The Bridge
Borgen - who knew Danish coalition politics could be so engrossing??

Iwashappyinthehaze · 07/06/2024 18:53

I love the Bridge and Borgen too. Though the last series wasn’t quite as good.
