PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 05/06/2024 18:58

A Senior German detective has told a court that investigators had found emails on a Hotmail account used by Christian Brueckner that linked him directly to the Madeleine McCann case.

However, the detective was unable to share details of the evidence as it was 'related to the killing' of Madeleine. Brueckner, the prime suspect, is currently on trial in Germany for unrelated sex crimes.

But you do have to be a perfect parent or to have never made a mistake to sit around smugly slinging accusations at two people who have gone through and are still living through the worst nightmare any parent can imagine. They make a mistake that thousands of other people made. I ask again, can you honestly say you have never made a mistake? Do you think you deserve to have a load of virtue-signalling strangers rehashing your mistake over and over again and essentially saying someone else's dreadful crime was your fault?

No sorry, you don't just get to say nobody's perfect when 2 adults put their own selfish wants and needs ahead of the safety of their young children and a child dies because of it.

ControlShiftDelete · 06/06/2024 08:25

I think they've gone through enough all these years because of a judgment error they made 17 years ago and have lived with the consequences ever since and I don't see any point in dwelling on it over and over again about the mistake they made and their parenting choices. You can tell from their eyes and sense their pain.

17 years ago when this hit the news, i was nowhere near the stage of parenting and never really grasped it as I used to just see a picture of a beautiful little girl with the headlines and never read the story properly but now that I have two kids of my own and cannot imagine the pain they have gone through all these years. Let's not forget most of the time, someone's mistake becomes your lesson learned as well so let's just be mindful as they have already paid the consequences.

What people are missing is say a parent lost a child because they put that child in the car unrestrained no car seat or belt etc there’d naturally be repercussions. They were negligent but not so much as an apology or expression of regret publicly. Yes on the 80’s we were all unrestrained as kids in cars doesn’t make it normal to do now!

Apology to who? How do you think that would look, and what purpose would it serve?

@ControlShiftDelete well said 🙌xx

NigelHarmansNewWife · 06/06/2024 08:28

Absolutely correct @ControlShiftDelete. Let's concentrate on the most recent developments rather than the fault of the parents, which is a form of victim blaming.

fashionqueen0123 · 06/06/2024 08:22

You said it was wrong?

I said

“As someone said up thread people talk like they are experts but can’t even get the basic facts right like where the mccanns are from which isn’t South Yorkshire”

the McCanns are not from South Yorkshire so that is wrong, whether it is relevant or not relevant it is still wrong.

the original poster said the McCanns were from South Yorkshire that is wrong they are not

It'll fall on deaf ears. Always does.

And I can kind of understand it with the armchair detectives who think one or both of the parents actually killed her. At least then there's a logic. But presumably, the people who continue to rehash the should they have left her question (and I wouldn't have) must think either she was killed by someone else or wandered off.

As a parent who had children a similar age in the 90s/00s it was considered ok to eat very close to our apartment and regularly check. It was normal and never on our radar that a weirdo would steal our child.

Have to say I completely disagree with this comment. My DD was 3 months younger than Madeline, I also had a son who was 2 at the time and would never ever have left either one of them alone in an apartment. It was not considered an ok thing to do then just as it isnt now. Not blaming the parents, they have suffered the ultimate price for their mistake but not on any planet would it be ok to leave such young kids alone.

I agree with you. My daughter was born in the early 00s and I wouldn't have dreamed of leaving her alone. It was very misjudged of them when they left her, but they have been judged for it and paid the ultimate price. It's just horrendous. I will admit that maybe it was acceptable a decade earlier or before that but not in the early 00s

PrincessScarlett · 06/06/2024 08:32

For parents that holidayed with Mark Warner it was perfectly normal to leave your kids and pay for a listening service. I did many MW holidays before kids and this service was available in a number of their resorts. I would never have used this service for obvious reasons but MW did make parents believe their children would be safe by using this practice.

Obviously since Madeline MW have put a stop to using a listening service and have a babysitting club in the evenings whereby you drop your child off with a staff member in the kids club and collect them after you gave eaten.

OneFrenchEgg · 06/06/2024 08:33

What do people want? Public flogging? Self flagellation? Personal hand written apologies to all the perfect parents?

Two second google:

Gerry McCann told yesterday of his terrible regret at leaving his children alone on the night Madeleine disappeared.
He admitted: "We made a mistake, but we are paying more for it than anyone could ever possibly imagine."

goldenpears · 06/06/2024 08:34

Just because listening services were available sometimes in that era doesn’t make them right - most people with common sense wouldn’t have used it.

The McCanns were drs so not short of money they could have had a double and single cheap lightweight maclaren buggy and had those children nap by them as they ate at the restaurant.

It’s easy to say the only person to blame is the who abducted her but really in reality they do have some responsibility due to acting negligently. They set up a situation unknowingly that enabled someone to take their child. It’s harm through neglect. Considering that social services can and do remove children on the suspicion of ‘future harm’ even when nothing has yet happened I’m surprised they got to keep their twins as they couldn’t safeguard their dc

You see it every tragedy on news parents saying please don’t do x,y,z as they’ve lost a child. I’d say they’re unusual not doing same.

No but maybe at least equal (or more) resources spent on finding missing people who weren't lost due to their parents leaving them alone in a foreign country.

OneFrenchEgg · 06/06/2024 08:36

'No but maybe at least equal (or more) resources spent on finding missing people who weren't lost due to their parents leaving them alone in a foreign country.'

Take it up with the people who can influence that then, and don't pretend you wouldn't focus entirely on finding your missing loved one.

I thought the script was that Scotland Yard detectives conveniently discover new evidence at this time of the year that necessitates golf clubs to be packed a trip to the Algarve for investigation.

Just when the parents need to do another interview too. Might even squeeze a book out of it. It’s ok though, not their fault because they’re GPs.

goldenpears · 06/06/2024 08:37

I noticed in one article that the German police wouldn’t comment on whether the emails included photos or videos ? They are clearly waiting for something so they can charge him but perhaps there’s a technicality

I don’t want to know…absolutely sickening that this creature is still alive!
I think about her parents regularly and they were destroyed that day .
They didn’t do anything wrong apart from a bad call leaving her at the apartment.
As a parent who had children a similar age in the 90s/00s it was considered ok to eat very close to our apartment and regularly check. It was normal and never on our radar that a weirdo would steal our child.

Normal to leave a 3 year old alone in a house with two babies? that was never normal. It is gross negligence. Unfortunately they have paid the most awful price. I feel sorry for the mum nonetheless, she ditched her career and stayed home to bring up the other two. Her husband would never have done such a thing, he looks to me very pleased to have met himself. I also hope they learn where she is and can bury her properly and say goodbye.

NigelHarmansNewWife · 06/06/2024 08:43

The little knowledge I have gained through work in a multinational company is that the German GDPR laws are stricter than the UK ones. This is around not allowing any breach of his GDPR rights to endanger a possible legal case against him.

goldenpears · 06/06/2024 08:43

I’d hazard a guess that the delays and sticking points are because of a situation where yes CB is guilty of what is alleged but it will just raise another issue . I don’t want to detail exactly what I think as I would assume it’s not allowed. I don’t think the parents are guilty of harming her apart from being negligent but I think maybe uncovering a situation led to panic

ThePerfectDog · 06/06/2024 08:46

fashionqueen0123 · 06/06/2024 08:22

You said it was wrong?

The poster who seemed to be implying that they had a knowledge of specific details of the case was wrong in a key detail.

That’s the issue, sometimes people cast judgement on others, claiming to have a great understanding of the situation. If the key facts are wrong, it suggests that their opinion which they are so committed to is incorrect.

Igotjelly · 05/06/2024 22:17

Well good for you, must be nice to know you’re perfect. Personally I know I’ve made decisions as a parent that in hindsight probably wasn’t the best idea. How about rather than vilifying a family who have been through something unspeakable we blame the creature that thinks it’s acceptable to kidnap and more than likely murder little children.

The sad reality is we know there are people out there like that , hence why you don’t leave your children alone just so you can eat and drink in peace.
Very high price a parent pays for doing do .

Psychoticbreak · 06/06/2024 08:47

9 pages in and still it is the McCanns on trial it seems when in actual day to day real current life this prick is standing trial rape and the reason for the Madeline case having all this new evidence being talked about is because of the brave people willing to face their abductor and rapist face to face in a court room so he has been examined in every way possible because of these people which is how the new evidence on Madeline has been brought to light.

Lets not applaud the bravery of the current victims of teh crimes he is in court over, lets completely ignore them and focus on how many think the McCanns were right or wrong instead. Lordy.

Whoswhoof · 06/06/2024 08:47

I can’t get over these comments 🤯

Dibbydoos · 06/06/2024 08:48

They left their children in peril and poor Maddie suffered due to that.😡

I always hoped she'd be found alive. 😞

I do hope they have enough to prosecute as much as I hold them responsible, her parents need closure.
