Madeleine McCann new evidence - BREAKING NEWS

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 05/06/2024 18:58

A Senior German detective has told a court that investigators had found emails on a Hotmail account used by Christian Brueckner that linked him directly to the Madeleine McCann case.

However, the detective was unable to share details of the evidence as it was 'related to the killing' of Madeleine. Brueckner, the prime suspect, is currently on trial in Germany for unrelated sex crimes.

Precisely. And those dogs had never made any mistakes.
Well - at the time they were thought to have made one mistake which Jerry kept referring to. A few years later some new evidence emerged and turned out they had been right!

Feelsodrained · 06/06/2024 07:13

As a parent who had children a similar age in the 90s/00s it was considered ok to eat very close to our apartment and regularly check. It was normal and never on our radar that a weirdo would steal our child.

No, no, it wasn’t. This was 2007 and there’s a reason people were outraged. It wasn’t the 1950s. It was incredibly negligent and dangerous but I do agree that they did not think anyone would break in and steal a child.

As someone said up thread people talk like they are experts but can’t even get the basic facts right like where the mccanns are from which isn’t South Yorkshire

Have to say I completely disagree with this comment. My DD was 3 months younger than Madeline, I also had a son who was 2 at the time and would never ever have left either one of them alone in an apartment. It was not considered an ok thing to do then just as it isnt now. Not blaming the parents, they have suffered the ultimate price for their mistake but not on any planet would it be ok to leave such young kids alone.

100%

mine were born in the 90s, they slept late, had a siesta, came out with us for dinner and snoozed in the buggy at our side if they were tired. We were together 24/7.

crucible2024 · 06/06/2024 07:20

For those who believe that the parents had something to do with it, what would be their motive?

Oaktree55 · 06/06/2024 07:23

Ridiculous to say it was normal to leave young children and babies unattended. Not true especially when there are paid babysitters at these resorts which they could well afford but obviously decided to save money on using. Awful thing that happened but don’t leave very young children alone!

Mprecheclogsboard · 06/06/2024 07:27

I think two things can be true at once. Leaving their young children unaccompanied was a bad decision. They paid the ultimate price for this mistake.

crucible2024 · 06/06/2024 07:29

When I was a child in the 70s and taken to Butlins, at night, off the parents would go to the Gaiety Ballroom, stick a card in the window to advertise their absence and that their kids were alone (!) and the holiday camp nurse would walk the streets of holiday chalets listening out for any cries. If they chanced on any, out a call would go in the ballroom notifying the parents. I know because I distinctly remember the nurse knocking on our chalet door as, as an 8 year old, I was trying to soothe my screaming 2 year old brother.

I also remember, as an adult, hotels providing a 'listening service'. Any member of staff could wander into reception and take note of which room had absent parents who were dining elsewhere in the hotel.

I hope they get answers and I do feel for them - so genuinely painful

but it was their fault, it wasn’t one night, it was several and they had plenty of ‘me time’ in the day and sent them to camps and had private tennis lessons. Obviously they didn’t cause it to happen but they enabled it by their own neglect.

No, the fault lies with the person who took her.
No one ever deserves what has happened to this child, these parents and these siblings - no one, not even if they made a mistake that others were also doing.

And yes, in some places this kind of thing was happening.
And the official baby listening services weren't much better either as no one ever went in rooms, just listened outside doors every so often.

Swingingvvoter · 06/06/2024 07:34

Should people open up a seperate thread to debate the macanns?
And keep new evidence thread free

Scruffily · 06/06/2024 07:34

Doteycat · 05/06/2024 23:19

I too had children of the same age at the same time and not in a million years would i or any of my friends or family have done what they did. Ever. Not for a minute.

Who cares? That is not what this thread is about.

Please can all the supposedly perfect parents round here take their halos elsewhere?

hereforthistoday · 06/06/2024 07:35

I honestly don't understand this. They have thrown this man's name around for YEARS but have never really done anything with it. Meanwhile the UK investigation trundles on.

If they have something on him then they need to charge him and get it to trial instead of dropping yearly 'tidbits' to the media.

Surely by releasing new stuff to the Press every year they run the risk of a case being thrown out because he wouldn't be able to get a fair trial, having basically been linked by the media for years?

Oaktree55 · 06/06/2024 07:36

I have little sympathy they were both in high paying jobs and chose to scrimp on the small amount it would have cost to employ a sitter. They’ve paid the price. Read the detail of his stories he wrote about his fantasy of kidnapping a young child. That poor child suffered unimaginable horrors before being murdered.

ThePerfectDog · 06/06/2024 05:06

Thanks, I don’t know much about it but I thought so.

It strikes me that there are people on here (and presumably in real life too) talking as if they’re experts but basing opinions on incorrect or incomplete information.

Very, very much a feature of this case, unfortunately!

There was a time when every fucking idiot with an internet connection seemed to think they were a legal and policing expert. And then the circus that grew around the case only served to encourage it.

With the thinking then sure;y that applies to the parents, who it's clear you're still trying to blame.

Sure;y if it stands that this man did it he would definitely have been convicted by now then equally if the parents did it, as you allude to, then they'd have been convicted by now - especially as they have undergone much more investigation over the years than this man, for this specific situation.

You post makes no sense therefore.

SocoBateVira · 06/06/2024 07:41

There are lots of people who formed the theory that the parents did it and continue to be emotionally attached to that now. These discussions always go the same way.

We don’t know what going on behind the scenes and neither should we know or otherwise the police are putting all the evidence they have in the hands of CB defence team also. This new information hasn’t been released to the media it’s something that came up in the course of another trial against him. He’s in prison and will hopefully be going back for a long time after this trial so from that point of view there is no rush to charge him and get him off the streets, as long as he’s locked up I’d rather the police dot all the i’s and cross all the t’s to make the case against him for MM as strong as possible, the worst possible outcome is they rush to charge and he gets off on some technicality

Fuck me, have a look at yourself.
'Little sympathy' - what a weird, cold thing to think. They made a mistake and you're quite ok thinking they deserved to have their daughter disappear, probably raped and murdered. The scale of what happened in no way matches what they did, which, as numerous people have confirmed, was happening elsewhere despite all the perfect parenting in this thread.

SocoBateVira · 06/06/2024 07:47

I'm always amazed how many people think their personal judgement on the behaviour of the parents actually matters. These threads always go the same way.

As it happens, I wouldn't have done it either, and neither did my own parents a decade or two earlier. But that issue was done to death nearly two decades ago. This thread is not about whether Madeleine should've been left, and yet lo and behold, that's what it's been turned into. Again.

Yes. Although I will say for the average crowd at a public hanging, I don't think most of them imagined themselves to be legal and policing experts. More than can be said for some of our modern day equivalents.

Scruffily · 06/06/2024 07:54

XiCi · 06/06/2024 00:13

They absolutely did do something wrong. Whatever happened to that child happened because they were negligent. It absolutely was not OK or normal to leave your child in an apartment alone on holiday in the 90s/00s. No way. I don't know anyone that did this. I don't know anyone thst wasn't horrified the McCanns did it on holiday.

Do leave it out. You are simply mistaken. If no-one did this, why did so many hotels offer the room listening service?

Hand on heart, can you honestly say that you are a perfect parent and a perfect human being who has never made a mistake in your life?

DrBlackbird · 06/06/2024 07:55

Igotjelly · 05/06/2024 22:04

I’ve got to say I was a child of that period and my parents wouldn’t have thought twice about doing something similar to what the McCanns did and they weren’t in anyway the only ones.

Neither would mine but they were incredibly laissez-faire parents that tended to go with their own wishes. I wouldn’t have ever left my DC not because of worrying about abduction particularly but the more mundane of the possibility of a fire or even them just waking up crying and no one there. Having said that, many parents do go out and nothing bad happens. Utter tragedy for Madeline.

hotpotlover · 06/06/2024 06:07

There's likely a technical reason why they haven't been able to charge him yet. The evidence is probably quite strong.

He's apparently still on trial for a different crime, maybe that's the reason? They need to wait until that's wrapped up and those sort of trials take ages. Just look at the Brian Kohberger case...absolutely no news or updates regarding the trial.
