Madeleine McCann new evidence - BREAKING NEWS

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 05/06/2024 18:58

A Senior German detective has told a court that investigators had found emails on a Hotmail account used by Christian Brueckner that linked him directly to the Madeleine McCann case.

However, the detective was unable to share details of the evidence as it was 'related to the killing' of Madeleine. Brueckner, the prime suspect, is currently on trial in Germany for unrelated sex crimes.

And leaving children alone was not "normal" in 2007. Maybe in 1967. Or 77. Or even 87. And even then it would have been frowned upon to leave children that young, and by the 90s most parents had become fully aware of potential dangers of doing so. Even without stranger abductions, which are pretty rare, the likelihood of an unsupervised child injuring themselves in the home is far greater. Most accidents do happen in the home after all.

I'm just going to leave it at that.

God that phrase and 'I won't say anything else' etc etc just spit it out or can you not own your own theory about how they accidentally drugged her/sold her/kept her in a fridge da da da

You want me to spout theories which all of us have heard a million times? Like I said, we don't know what actually happened. And we may never know for certain. But we can be certain of the fact that their behaviour is odd.

Ego kibbles is a well-used MN phrase. Even better it doesn’t insult people with learning difficulties

It really isn't

You will become familiar with it in time.

OneFrenchEgg · 06/06/2024 22:40

You will become familiar with it in time

Well let's hope not. I've managed 17 years on here without ever hearing it until this thread.

OneFrenchEgg · 06/06/2024 22:42

@Serrina their behaviour isn't odd. It's just different from your imagined response. It's not a 'fact' it's your perception, and that of weird 'experts' with you tube channels and no link to the case.

Maybe you need to get out more.

OneFrenchEgg · 06/06/2024 22:43

Anyway now the thread is an echo chamber of people who think it's essential they drown out any new conversation with their own superiority, I shall hide it and bow out. Hopefully any updates will have a new thread.

OneFrenchEgg · 06/06/2024 22:45

Maybe you need to get out more

Why? I'm quite happy chatting shit on here with people in between 'real life' and I would miss you trying to make 'ego kibbles' happen.

There’s nothing reasonable about rehashing the same tired arguments over the McCanns after 17 years, and then trying to pretend it was only because x said y.

And yet here you are rehashing the same tired arguments that nobody should be rehashing the point that the parents were negligent after 17 years 🤷‍♀️

OchonAgusOchonOh · 06/06/2024 22:49

Mirabai · 06/06/2024 18:19

Maybe if posters accepted that people see life differently and didn’t flog the same dead horse for nearly 2 decades, nobody would need to point out how tedious the whole thing is.

And yet here you are, not seeing that other posters think different points are important, and flogging away at the other dead horse

Crikeyalmighty · 06/06/2024 22:50

As people have said 'it wasn't common 'in my circles' - I'm afraid in my circle which wasn't vastly different to the McCanns - it was actually very common- in hindsight it seems bonkers- at the time it seemed to be what many did- as others have said on here- do I think they were wrong with kids that young ?- yes, but I still have huge empathy ---- do I think they did it - no. as 2 doctors even if there had been an accident the instinct surely would have been to call for further help - and if it wasn't an accident I personally can't remotely think of a motive- with regards to Kate running and Jerry playing tennis- have some mumsnetters met highly intelligent but slightly odd people in their life? Sometimes their behaviour is totally unfathomable- when I did a spell as a student nurse many many moons ago- one of my placements was on the psychiatric ward- I genuinely thought the psychologist on duty was a patient till another MH nurse put me right!! The guy on trial at the moment also hugely fits the photofit of witnesses seeing a guy carrying a young child I'm sad to say-.i think he targeted them and watched them. I guess they left the apartment unlocked so others could pop and check - in hindsight it seems incredibly foolish- but hindsight is an amazing thing .

Mirabai · 06/06/2024 22:12

Really? You might want to look up the meaning of the word “imbecile”.

Ego kibbles is a well-used MN phrase. Even better it doesn’t insult people with learning difficulties.

First time I've seen or heard it anywhere is this thread, tonight

NigelHarmansNewWife · 06/06/2024 22:58

This thread is a waste of time now. It has all been said and still people are arguing because they feel they must have their [pointless] say.

Goingasteady30 · 06/06/2024 23:00

It would be good to finally wrap up this case. Seen many false dawn's on it though so who knows.

Supersimkin7 · 06/06/2024 23:22

What annoys me is how many parents were scared silly by the case then and for years afterwards, on not entirely accurate grounds.

Our local cinema had a Find Maddie ad In the trailers that they had to pull because family cinema goers sobbed and panicked. Alarmist.

People didn’t know that the McC DC had been left alone most evenings for a week - it was widely believed MM was snatched practically from under her parents’ noses after they popped out once.

Not hard to understand why the McC underplayed their dinner timetable. (Whatever they did, it shouldn’t make a difference to the main aspects of the case, but you try telling SM). But the truth wouldn’t have terrified so many parents.

The ‘left alone’ should have been better reported, tactfully, as repeated lack of supervision, and not a one-off. That would have reduced the horrible scaremongering and given families know how on children’s holiday safety.

friendlycat · 06/06/2024 23:27

I just hope for the parents sake and the twins who have had to live through all of this that there can be some form of closure.

I cannot imagine the pain and torment that Kate and Gerry carry with themselves knowing that ultimately their actions led to the disappearance of their daughter. That’s a life sentence in itself.

They have two other children who will have incurred incredible scrutiny, gossip and malicious comments whilst growing up. They too are innocent bystanders in all of this.

Nobody, but nobody should have to suffer in the way this family has. Madeleine was hugely let down by everyone. She paid a terrible price.

But just like every single parent who has suffered unimaginable grief with a missing child I hope that they are given some answers ultimately.

parkrun500club · 06/06/2024 15:08

Yes.

It's also worth remembering that another young girl was abducted from a caravan in which her own parents were sleeping (in the UK). Through an open window.

And do people remember the 13 year old who was murdered in France in a youth hostel bedroom with other children sleeping in it?

As others have said, if it hadn't been Madeleine, it would have been another child.

Can we blame the arse who murdered her please.

Again there is not a single shred of evidence she was abducted. Not one. Can a single person on here correct me on this?

DaoineSidhe · 06/06/2024 23:32

How do you accidentally drug someone?

OchonAgusOchonOh · 06/06/2024 09:55

As a parent in the late 90's/early 00's, it was considered normal to remain in the villa/apartment once children went to bed. It would never have entered our heads or the heads of any of our circle of friends to leave the children alone in a villa/apartment.

It never entered out heads that a weirdo might try and abduct our children but as responsible parents, we did not leave our children alone at a young age.

just to add, alone in an unlocked apartment with 7 adults in a party who could have taken turns babysitting. If this is what indeed happened.

Well, yes. The fact that she disappeared is evidence of abduction.

Psychoticbreak · 06/06/2024 23:42

You know what is really weird about this case and this forum, nobody in 17 years or 2520000 threads and not even on this 24 page thread has ever wondered if the McCanns were negligent. So so strange.

However...

Speaking of negligence I was thinking does anyone else agree the Portugese police may have been a tad negligent? There were a spate of rapes and child sexual assaults and all sorts around the time this poor German lad who is being framed was living and the rapes, especially of one woman who was totally dismissed as being a fantasist and a drunk and a slut according to plain clothes Portugese police and they did not even investigate them. I mean the poor poor man may be being accused in the wrong even if he did happen by the appartment cos sure look, if you found a pound on the ground you would pick it up yourself right? I mean it is the 'owners fault' for dropping it and not holding onto it tightly after all.

This thread is a disgrace it really is. How people care more about what people did 17 years ago and are going to lengths to show how they would NEVER have done it themselves instead of seeing the bigger picture where there are women and children who are actual victims of this bastard out there trying to keep him behind bars not only for their closure but to also help in any other cases out there including the Madeline one. The focus is on the wrong people. The wrong criminal/s. I cannot get my head around it at all.

friendlycat · 06/06/2024 23:45

psychotic. I do agree

Conflicting evidence, false leads, false sightings. Women turning up,claiming to be Madeleine. I don't think we wiill ever know the truth.

3luckystars · 06/06/2024 14:26

Yes but I saw them in an interview later, she looked haunted.

But she never said ‘this is what she would look like now, we are still searching for her’

Because she knows.

Who wouldn’t look haunted after their toddler went missing? Can you imagine the stress and despair and what this would do to anyone? And because she didn’t say something in an interview, which has been said at some point, she “knows”. It’s this kind of reasoning that makes me hope I never have to rely on a jury to decide my fate.

MoonKiss · 06/06/2024 23:53

Yes I think the Portuguese police were negligent. They pursued a narrative which suited Amaral, who knew full well some dodgy fucker was lurking and did nothing about it.

No tourist resort or hotel wants it known that families are in danger, puts people off booking and at risk of losing contracts with tour operators. It happens all over the world in places that rely on visitors.
