Madeleine McCann new evidence - BREAKING NEWS

A Senior German detective has told a court that investigators had found emails on a Hotmail account used by Christian Brueckner that linked him directly to the Madeleine McCann case.

However, the detective was unable to share details of the evidence as it was 'related to the killing' of Madeleine. Brueckner, the prime suspect, is currently on trial in Germany for unrelated sex crimes.

Not to mention the very experienced police chief on the case being so sure of their involvement that he lost his career, home, had his assets frozen in writing a book about the case and was unsuccessfully sued all the way up to the ECHR.

Imagine thinking that occupation and the ability to hire a PR firm must be the reasons why a forum full of mothers would throw up people who know better than to have any respect for Goncarlo Amaral.

Goncalo Amaral was involved in a very controversial murder case in the Algarve prior to Madeleine's disappearance. Three of his colleagues were accused of torturing a mother who was accused and eventually convicted of murdering her daughter whose body was never found. She was sentenced to 16 years for the murder and many people believe that the conviction is unsafe as her confession may have been coerced. I lived in the Algarve at the time and remember seeing the pictures in the local papers of the mother being brought to court covered in bruises. If you are interested look up the case of Joana Cipriano.

Yep, that's the very case I was thinking of. Useful to hear a local perspective.

Is this the book that claims she died the day before, on 2nd May? If so, does it address what reasons were given for why nobody saw her all day on 3rd, because apparently photos were taken and she went to kids club that day?

Edited

Don’t know as I’ve not read the book it has only been published v v recently…

I believe his theory is something happened to her earlier in the holiday. The photo purported to have been taken on the 3rd May by the pool was taken earlier in the holiday as it wasn’t that sunny on the 3rd and few other reasons…I’ve read this on other forums….who knows 🤷‍♀️! Whether she was in kids club again who knows …the statements from the kids club manager haven’t been seen!

Stating the same ‘facts’ for 17 years ad nauseam, in a thread about another aspect of the case, does not strike me as intelligent, no. Nor interesting. Nor having any point whatsoever.

Responding to claims by people that leaving children alone was normal by stating that it was not normal and was and is negligent is perfectly reasonable.

”sure beyond a reasonable doubt” or “100% sure” if it’s 100% sure I’m suprised anyone ever gets convicted, when I did jury services the barristers were so good on both sides that even if you were almost sure they were guilty they’d always thing there was the tiniest chance maybe not

When I was on a recent jury "Beyond reasonable doubt" was not on the decision sheet the foreman had to fill in with the jury's decision.

After 2 weeks the evidence was unconvincing that even "beyond reasonable doubt" did not come into it.

I’ve never seen a thread on any aspect of the McCann case that did not wang on about negligence for 100 pages. HTH.

Maybe if posters didn't claim their behaviour was considered acceptable, nobody would need to point out that it was not acceptable and was, in fact, negligent.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 06/06/2024 17:55

SocoBateVira · 06/06/2024 17:41

Nope, it was brought up before that on this thread- see page 1, post at 21.39 yesterday. It invariably is, and then also at great length thereafter.

Fair enough. I didn't see that.

A number of years ago I was on a very large, very busy campsite in France and at 11.30pm
at the entertainment area/bar I spotted 3 children crying. Oldest was maybe 7 and they had lost their 3 year old sister/ cousin. I brought them
back to their mobile (very close) where the parents and friends were drinking on the deck. Of course total panic ensued but the extremely upset toddler was quickly found.

I was still up with my friend and our older kids but the husbands were back with the younger ones from about 10pm. We were not perfect parents by any stretch and I cringe when I think of the times I left them in the pool and didn’t always have eyes on them, but I was aghast that anyone would consider this ok.

The parents clearly got caught up
in the drinks and the fun and kids having fun together - when the reality was it was very dangerous

Tragedies can happen with young children - can't go in to too much detail, but a friend's relation lost a young child {drowned} at a party- each parent thought the other had the poor child.
Alcohol, friends , noisy teenagers splashing in the pool... It was ghastly.

A terrible, terrible accident.

Verdict ''Accidental death''.

There’s nothing reasonable about rehashing the same tired arguments over the McCanns after 17 years, and then trying to pretend it was only because x said y.

"an incriminating email allegedly possessed by Brueckner" (but not one he wrote from the careful way it was phrased)

"He had allegedly deleted all emails from that account in early 2007 close to the time of Madeleine’s disappearance"

There is a claim that Bird Flu in the US has been invented because it's "close to the time" for an election. That phrase is used to make people nod as if was proof of something.

"Prosecutors received access to the emails after making an application to Microsoft in 2019" which can only work if they were someone else's emails kept in their sent folder and not his at all.

They really should find someone who is dead to pin it on. Then they won't have to actually produce any evidence at all. It has worked before. With the added bonus that you can clear other crimes off the books at the same time.

Maybe if posters didn't claim their behaviour was considered acceptable, nobody would need to point out that it was not acceptable and was, in fact, negligent.

Maybe if posters accepted that people see life differently and didn’t flog the same dead horse for nearly 2 decades, nobody would need to point out how tedious the whole thing is.

The word 'need' is taking some abuse there.

So a man is on trial for rape of women and children, currently in prison for rape of a woman and sentence nearly served. Personally I dont give a toss what Gerry and Kate did all them years ago. As said the only thing we actually know is that they left their kids and went out to dinner. We do not KNOW anything else. The current victims who must be going through hell reliving what he has done to them seem to be being pushed aside and ignored and largely not even by speculation about which this man could or could not have done but STILL been driven by the 'I would never have left my kids' brigade. Great, wonderful, I would not have left mine either but they said they did leave theirs. What other people would have done 17 years ago is neither here nor there. How that has taken over the thread just baffles me entirely.

Who cares what the rest of us would have done? Who cares if the rest of us would string them up by their nails saying they were negligent? WHat is it going to change? NOTHING. What could change is that the victims of his other crimes now get their day in court and get their closure. October I believe this is to be wrapped up. THEN they speculation about Madeline would be obviously a talking point again once this fucker is back behind bars away from the rest of innocent society for another hopefuly 15 years but the trial is not about Madeline and certainly not about her parents it is about other people who he has damaged horrendously and they need their justice. I have no idea about German law but I assume he can only go on trial for one thing at a time so for the victims going through this all again now I hope they get their justice and if this does help in any way towards the other case on Madeline then fantastic but it is a shame it cannot be one thing at a time.

SocoBateVira · 06/06/2024 18:36

Found a newspaper report of the questions Kate refused to answer. I’m sure she would have been provided with an interpreter @SocoBateVira Bit more personal questions from No.38 but I can’t see why she thought she may might have incriminated herself by answering the ones before that.

I didn't say she wouldn't. Having used interpreters a great deal in my working life as a solicitor, there's still a difference.

In terms of your opinion on whether she'd have incriminated herself, her solicitors would no doubt have been better placed to advise her than you were. What's your qualification to offer a view on that point, anyway?

Out of interest did you respond to a clarion call posted elsewhere to signup to Mumsnet today when this thread appeared in order to spread anti McCann propaganda?

The German police don't want to screw up. The main suspect is currently in prison. Can you imagine if something went wrong with this prosecution? Time will tell. They want to copper bottom it.

I admit I find the way other jurisdictions odd in what they release, how and when to the media.

My heart goes out to the McCann family.

Is it true that Gerry played tennis the following day, a prior arrangement? Like you would? Or is that a lie?

Lopiun · 06/06/2024 12:39

It was a tremendous mistake to leave the kids. But Jerry and Kate have paid the ultimate price, it is a fate worse than death.

Poor poor Madeleine.

One person paid the ultimate price, and it wasn't Kate or Gerry.

The difference is in a hotel or apartment complex there are lots of people all in the vicinity. Generally you would know if someone broke into your house..

Yes, but I suppose I wouldn't live my life expecting trouble or that things would happen. I'm just one of those people. It's the same with flying, going in the car, crossing the road, letting my children play freely (with an eye on them) at the playground. I was not one of those (increasingly common) 'sweeping in' parents.

A criminal profiler who was involved in the case said that in her experience, it’s unusual for parents of an abducted child, who don’t know where their child is to be able to sleep through the night and do normal things in the days after their child goes missing, because they don’t know if their child is suffering somewhere. And for that reason, you cannot rest. Until you know.

If you know your child is no longer alive, you would certainly be grieving but you’d know they weren’t suffering any more.

Some of you sound like that obsessed woman who created several Twitter accounts to stalk the McCanns and ended up taking her own life.
