Madeleine McCann new evidence - BREAKING NEWS

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 05/06/2024 18:58

A Senior German detective has told a court that investigators had found emails on a Hotmail account used by Christian Brueckner that linked him directly to the Madeleine McCann case.

However, the detective was unable to share details of the evidence as it was 'related to the killing' of Madeleine. Brueckner, the prime suspect, is currently on trial in Germany for unrelated sex crimes.

'Not one person blames the victim. The victim is Madeleine, btw. Not her parents.'

Madeleine was a victim as indeed were her poor parents. It isn't either or.

I've no idea how anyone can think parents aren't victims when their child is abducted.

I am always surprised by the reaction to that quote from Kate McCann. Yes, it's disturbing, but having your child go missing, with a strong possibility that she will be assaulted and murdered, is going to make some horrific things cross your mind. It's so far outside the experience of most of us that it's difficult to read, but for me it's not that great an imaginative leap. I can remember looking at my toddlers' perfect little bodies and thinking they were the most beautiful things in the world. Intrusive thoughts like the one Kate wrote about aren't surprising to me and I think it says nothing about her character other than that she was a mother in unimaginable hell.

And really, being a doctor who's worked in obs and gynae then also having a daughter disappear is such a niche position that pretty much nobody is qualified to assess what constitutes normal in that situation.

Yeah @ActivePeony it's one of my thoughts on this, if that's ok??

Just funny it’s his rudeness that’s the final straw for you, rather than the sex crimes and murders 😅

SusieSussex · 06/06/2024 14:32

When people focus on what the McCanns did wrong, it reminds me of when a woman was attacked while walking home locally to me. It was posted about on a local Facebook group and the first comment was "She shouldn't have been walking home alone in the dark." Their first reaction was to criticise the woman rather than blame the attacker
.

Her editor clearly didn’t share your opinion. Kate was describing the horror of her intrusive thoughts, it was a real, shared experience that was no doubt meant to shock and upset the reader, in order to give a brief glimpse of the torment parents face in such appalling situations. Do try not to fixate on it, it’s so childish.

You can’t tell people not to have an opinion on a book that someone chose to write. That is the whole point!

And it’s irrelevant what date they last sued someone. It is well known that they are still threatening people who say Madeleine may not have been abducted with legal action to this day. Amazon pulls books that people write. That is also why so many posts are being deleted on this thread. The last thing MN needs is another Gina Ford debacle.

Walking home isn't the same as leaving your kids unattended though is it

BertieBotts · 06/06/2024 14:42

Onomatofear · 06/06/2024 12:42

Of course stranger abduction is, thankfully rare. But that’s not the reason why leaving three children under 5, alone in an apartment is a crazy thing to do. It’s because they are much more likely to have an accident.

Well sure, there are plenty of reasons it's an unacceptable risk to leave small children unattended. That isn't what people are arguing, though. People are arguing about whether or not it was a usual thing to do and could have been accepted as a reasonable risk to take. It's not about whether it is objectively risky or not - that will never be answered because the way people calculate risk is subjective.

Also many people DO think that it was the parents' fault if she was abducted because they left her alone, hence all the comparisons to bicycles and stacks of cash.

Barleycat · 06/06/2024 14:44

The point that lots of people seem to be missing is that the children were left in an unlocked apartment. Leaving them was bad enough but at least lock the door! That to me is the worst part of it, i agree re total lack of evidence for any scenario that has been suggested, MM could easily have left the apartment of her own accord. If she had done so, and had ended up in the pool, what would have happened to the parents then. I'm sure that devision haunts them which it should tbh but I hope that if cb is responsible then the evidence will be strong enough to convict him.

Crikeyalmighty · 06/06/2024 14:45

@Pelham678 absolutely -

Yes most people have missed that point and repeatedly missed it for the last 17 years. It’s lucky you’re around eh?

To be fair, on the assumption a stranger took her, it could have happened if she left the apartment looking for mum and dad. We don’t know that anyone actually walked in and stole her from her bed.

However, Kate has said that they had asked for that specific table in the tapas bar because it had a view of all the rooms (though iirc they couldn’t see their door as it was side on). She said the reservations book had a note that they needed to keep an eye on the children, and that book was at the restaurant entrance and viewable by anyone who cared to look.

Good for them trying to prevent people suggesting they did it.

As a parent who had children a similar age in the 90s/00s it was considered ok to eat very close to our apartment and regularly check. It was normal and never on our radar that a weirdo would steal our child.

No, no, it wasn’t. This was 2007 and there’s a reason people were outraged. It wasn’t the 1950s. It was incredibly negligent and dangerous but I do agree that they did not think anyone would break in and steal a child.

Was it 2007? Wow that is so recent.

Yeah I’m a 90s kid and I don’t know anyone left home alone under the age of 5 in the 90s/noughties. But as a pp said perhaps it was a groupthink effect where everyone on the holiday was doing it so it was kind of normalised 🤷‍♀️

I did know a friend of a friend who went out to the local garage for fags during the night and left the toddlers in bed in 2008 but that was definitely frowned upon.

Anyone focusing on the parents and not the monster who took madeleine, really needs to sort their life out. The act of leaving children in a place you deemed acceptable and safe at the time, versus an evil man who stole a child, are not comparable. Victim blaming is the lowest of the low.

They are two seperate issues. The person who presumably abducted her should be locked up and the key thrown away.

Any parent who believes it is acceptable and safe to leave such young children alone is seriously misguided at best. I would consider it negligent to leave them on their own for a multitude of reasons, the majority unrelated to the potential for abduction.

They started it many years ago and it has run and run. They have also shut down other professionals, much more recently if they tried to publish their thoughts on the case if any of what they said went against the McCanns in any way.

People donated to Madeleine’s fund to try to find her. I’m pretty sure they did not intend to help her parents continually sue people.

I'll try to find you a link later, but I'm pretty sur4 they were reported to have said that, once made official suspects, they wouldn't be using the funds for personal causes any more

Whether that's what happened I couldn't possibly say ....

Yes.

It's also worth remembering that another young girl was abducted from a caravan in which her own parents were sleeping (in the UK). Through an open window.

And do people remember the 13 year old who was murdered in France in a youth hostel bedroom with other children sleeping in it?

As others have said, if it hadn't been Madeleine, it would have been another child.

Can we blame the arse who murdered her please.

Not the same at all.

As an adult, you can expect to be walking home in the dark and get home safely. At least where I live...

Leaving young children without an adult preset in an unfamiliar place should never be acceptable.

You can defend the McCanns as much as you like, but one single moment of selfish stupidity has wrecked their lives.

The message is loud and clear: don't leave your children unattended. Ever.

WayOutOfLine · 06/06/2024 15:16

I don't defend anyone's choices, but having made that choice, they have been punished and punished, I don't know how they go on. Fancy needing to kick them further.

I hope they can find some sort of peace.

My issue is the poster hadn’t even read the book but read what someone else said about it and quoted that as evidence of a criminal issue.

If you’ve read the book and that’s your interpretation, whilst others might disagree, at least you’re actually basing it on something that you’ve seen / read first hand. In reality by the time she’s said it, it’s been documented, written into a narrative, edited, read by someone else, they’ve then reported it through their own lense and then been read / listened to by someone else, it’s been through 6 different filters and the original meaning could be completely different.

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 06/06/2024 15:27

I was left alone in the late 80s/early 90s in foreign countries for hours in hotel rooms etc with my younger sibling. My parents went out to eat and my brother cried the whole time they were out. This is now denied by my parents but it definitely happened.

It’s akin to those idiots who say a woman who was wearing a short skirt deserved it. Gross.

No. It's akin to saying parents who put their 3-year-old in a short skirt and then leave her to walk alone in a park in the middle of the night so they can go off for a drink are negligent.

Not one person blames the victim. The victim is Madeleine, btw. Not her parents.

Exactly,it was Madeleine who 'paid the ultimate price';not her parents.

If this is true I hope the people who have said the McCanns killed her are eating their words. I also hope that family starts to get closure if this is the case.

A few more defamation cases against the morons that claim they have the case sussed would really be good

Mirabai · 06/06/2024 15:38

All these people having children and taking them on holiday, they’re just asking for it.

I saw on another forum that there is a new book just come out by a retired detective....The Sudden Impulse is the name of the book. Very recently published in last few weeks...
