Madeleine McCann new evidence - BREAKING NEWS

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 05/06/2024 18:58

A Senior German detective has told a court that investigators had found emails on a Hotmail account used by Christian Brueckner that linked him directly to the Madeleine McCann case.

However, the detective was unable to share details of the evidence as it was 'related to the killing' of Madeleine. Brueckner, the prime suspect, is currently on trial in Germany for unrelated sex crimes.

“They were in high paying jobs they could afford a sitter” is such weird logic. How does that then apply it they had been in low paying jobs and couldn’t afford a sitter? Does that then not count against them?

What would a child neglect charge have achieved? They lost their poor baby in the worst way... That's more than enough of a consequence and a deterrent to others. They'll spend the rest of their lives hating themselves for it.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/06/2024 09:59

In all these years there has been no concrete evidence of anything which is why nobody has been arrested

Exactly - which is why, until there is, some of us are keeping an open mind around the whole thing, the parents' possible involvement included

Their judgement wasn’t effective at safeguarding their children.

I agree with this.

Ditto

Kate and Gerry were both GPs at the time so had plenty of money to spend on a babysitter. They were simply too tight to do so. Instead they went out drinking. Then Kate ran out leaving the twins to scream kidnap. Who here would run out on baby twins after the toddler went missing? She could have called across to the pub.

My ex was a git but even he knew better than to go out without getting a babysitter and that was in the 80s

If people simply restricted themselves to that point, it wouldn't be so bad. After all, statistically the commonest perpetrator in a situation like this is the father. I understand someone saying that in the absence of concrete evidence, this is the likeliest explanation.

However, far too many people go way, way beyond that. The self-indulgent, Dunning Kruger circus this has been allowed to degenerate into is a cottage industry in its own right.

I’ve got to say I was a child of that period and my parents wouldn’t have thought twice about doing something similar to what the McCanns did and they weren’t in anyway the only ones.

Doesn't make it right.

I judged the McCann's for leaving the children alone at the time, as did most people I know. None of us would have left our children alone and we thought anyone who did was negligent, regardless of whether anything happened or not.

Think this is the worst thing I’ve ever read on here. You’re basically saying they deserved it? Do you have any idea of the horrors that child probably suffered and you’re saying her parents deserve that?

They shouldn’t have left the kids alone but I suspect they realise that at this point.

What an utterly reprehensible thing to say.

I had exactly the same thought, easily the most reprehensible comment I've ever read on here.

There are numerous other contributions that are quite breathtaking in their repugnance; the entire thread is a race to the bottom.

MoonKiss · 06/06/2024 10:06

I always felt that the family were probably being watched in the run up to Madeleine being taken. Chilling.

I’ve never been in the “parents did it” camp, why on earth would they relentlessly and publicly pursue the investigation for years on end, if they killed her? You’d think they’d keep their heads down and hope it faded away, but no.

Absolutely.

The number of morally repulsive pieces of shit who think themselves fit to judge other people when it comes to this issue always amazes me.

Gerry was a cardiac consultant and Kate was a GP.

The theories about the McCanns are ridiculous to the point of not even being worthy of challenge.
Impressionable is the polite way of describing the conspiracy theorists.

And they might because what is totally being ignored is this is coming to light again and he is being investigated again due to the brave victims of this man whom he raped and abused and have come forth with information stemming from what they have lived through. There are victims in court giving evidence day after day to get him back where he belongs behind bars while the investigation into Madeline is ongoing but the people who are brave enough to bring him to court are being ignored once again for this 'they should have done this that or the other' as parents. The McCanns are not on trial. This trial is not about Madeline. This trial is about other victims of this vile human being and they are being ignored which is a disgrace.

Absolutely right!

I don't get why people bring up this stuff about the McCanns. It's pretty disgusting in my view to continue to throw stones at them after all they've been through. What does it achieve, they couldn't have suffered more.

It's absolutely untrue to say they were the only ones that did this. I've been on a similar holiday to this around that time and it was a service that was offered that lots of people used. I had never heard anyone criticise it or even mention it before Madeleine went missiing.

The courage of those standing up in court against this man should be highlighted. Bringing it all back so many years later cannot be easy and they deserve to be praised for their sacrifice.

budgiegirl · 06/06/2024 10:14

I agree with this too. I have children a little older than Madeleine, and it was absolutely NOT normal to leave them in an apartment while going out to dinner. When my kids were little (early 00s) we stayed in an apartment that had a restaurant door across a hallway, so no more than 2 meters away, effectively part of the same building, and we didn't leave the kids alone to go there (in fact, the restaurant were kind enough to treat our balcony as one of there tables, and served our food there!).

It wasn't normal to leave your kids then, and the parents I knew at that time wouldn't have dreamed of it. I'm not sure it's been normal since the 70/80s, and even then there was a listening service.

The McCanns made a terrible mistake, and will have to live with that forever. It's awful what happened to them, and no parent or child deserves what has happened to them. But it wasn't a normal decision to make.

sixnearlyseven · 06/06/2024 10:17

In 2007 I had a 5 year old, 3 and 2 year old and a newborn, born the month M was abducted. It wouldn't have crossed my mind to ever have left them , apart from to put the bins out! I was a young mum in my 20s too, not a middle class professional.
I was never left alone on our trips to Pontins or Blackpool either, even when we started going abroad when I was 12, early 90s.

Onomatofear · 06/06/2024 10:17

I used to believe what the parents said happened, but since then, a lot of experts who were specifically asked to get involved in the case have stated that they don’t think the totality of the evidence stacks up to this having happened. The UK government decided, early on, to ignore anything that suggested any other narrative than what the parents said.

The McCanns lawyers are clearly still out in force which is something you can tell by the number of deleted posts on this thread.

Whatayear2023 · 06/06/2024 10:17

I think they made a very bad choice, that choice had consequences that no one should ever have to endure.
Loosing a child is the worst imaginable pain but loosing a child and not knowing what happened is incomprehensible.
You see people who commit horrid vile crimes and they serve a sentence and can live their life, this sort of action going for food has had a lifelong sentence on the parents and most importantly madelines siblings.
The fact his name and face is everywhere is good as if he does manage to get out of prison the whole world knows what he looks like and all the things he has done and 99% of the population would avoid him like the plague and where ever he is housed to people will know.
I've followed this case from when it happened and all I wish is that she is found in order for her family to have that peace.
I cannot see how after all the investigations against this Christian that only now they have email information. Sounds like they have had this information a long time hence why they did that search last year or year before... the authorities probably know it's him have a lot of circumstantial evidence but nothing concrete or anything that can't be excused away.

Alltheyearround · 06/06/2024 10:19

For the poster talking about the cadaver dogs. Same dogs used in Jersey children's home case (see BBC documentary). Evidence was debatable there too, though there is no doubt whatsoever that children suffered at the hands of adult abusers and there were a lot of stories about children going missing and never being seen again.

Dogs are not infallible.

Indeed! It seems likely, given this man's depravity, there will have been more who've fallen victim but are as yet unknown. He simply can't ever be allowed freedom.

Well that says way more about you than about the McCanns. What does it achieve apart from putting you on your high horse.

Do you not have an ounce of compassion for people who have suffered so much? I don't get why being on your moral high ground is a nicer place to be than one of compassion and support for cruelly bereaved parents.

However, no-one will have judged the McCanns more than the McCanns. I hope they have some peace now.

Igotjelly · 06/06/2024 10:22

Some posters on this thread are just vile self righteous twats. I sincerely hope you’re never in a position like the one the McCann’s have had to endure for nearly 20 years!

MoonKiss · 06/06/2024 10:23

It’s almost as if some are saying “meh, they left her so they deserved it”.

To the posters saying theres no evidence she was kidnapped, in all these years there has been no concrete evidence of anything which is why nobody has been arrested.

The new evidence of this email is a direct result of the current trial he is on for rape. He was due for release next year, they need a conviction of rape in this case to keep him behind bars so he is not released to move about as he pleases and evade the law again so once he is back where he belongs with hopefully a 15 year sentance they can deep dive into everything else about the Madeline case which is nothing to do with this one. The victims currrently in the courtrooms facing him know it is imperitive he gets sent down for this so he is not released. I hope as much as anyone Madeline case gets closed at some point but the reality is going over what her parents should or shoudnt have done is not going to change the outcome.

I hope this fucker gets done for this and his victims get their closure before the Madeline case is reopened. They also deserve their closure.

Just reread what you have just posted, when you remove the waffle - what are you left with, not a single jot of evidence for a kidnapping. Not talking about 'concrete' evidence, but rather not 'any' evidence whatsoever.

Onomatofear · 06/06/2024 10:25

The double standards on Mumsnet really do make me laugh though. There was a thread on here, not so long ago where a mother was talking about how she and her husband left their two children in the house, alone, so they could go to the pub or something and they would get home at 10pm. She was given a very hard time, as you would expect. The children were about 10 and 8.

But when it’s the McCanns it’s different? Sorry, it is not different. If they did leave the children in the apartment then they were not in a position to supervise them properly.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 06/06/2024 10:26

I don’t want to know…absolutely sickening that this creature is still alive!
I think about her parents regularly and they were destroyed that day .
They didn’t do anything wrong apart from a bad call leaving her at the apartment.
As a parent who had children a similar age in the 90s/00s it was considered ok to eat very close to our apartment and regularly check. It was normal and never on our radar that a weirdo would steal our child.

My child was a similar age. I would never ever have done that. Ever. It wasn’t normal at all.
