OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 02/06/2024 16:08

Planes !

lots of them !!!

as it's the Torbay Airshow this weekend, so I heard them yesterday afternoon too.

TeenLifeMum · 02/06/2024 16:10

A few cars passing and next door have a bbq going so I can smell that but can’t actually hear them. I think we have the youngest dc in the cul de sac and they’re vampires and refusing to join me in the sun. 12-16yo. Just me, the dog flopped on the grass and 2 bunnies.

GreenMarigold · 02/06/2024 16:15

Distant cars
Plane
Red kite
A few different kinds of songbirds tweeting
Insects

Coastalcreeksider · 02/06/2024 16:30

Kids playing over the back, my tiny wind chimes gently tinkling, traffic louder than it was earlier when I was sat outside

Sat on bench with my gin and tonic and all is well with the world.

Wind in the trees.
Some children playing.
Traffic from the main road.
A few birds.
Blissful 😊

I've got a variety of tits, blackbirds, swifts and skylarks.

Last week, my app also told me I was listening to a barn owl. It was mid afternoon and I didn't think so. I think the app sometimes gets it wrong.

It's not unusual for barn owls to be about in the day time at this time of year when they have young to feed so it might really have picked one up.

Sheknowsaboutme · 02/06/2024 16:51

Birds and sheep. And the chicken mooching for food.

I never hear traffic

HuongVuong3 · 02/06/2024 16:51

Our chickens.
The river, in particular water going over the weir.
Insects buzzing.
The occasional car.

It's lovely!

grumpymummy72 · 02/06/2024 16:52

What I can hear from being prostate on my patio sofa:
My husband in the kitchen doing a Sunday roast while listening to Absolute 80s
Birdsong
Distant traffic and planes overhead.

Bliss. Just wish it wasn't the last day of a week off work.

aintnospringchicken · 02/06/2024 16:57

Birds and the sound of planes overhead

drawnfrommemory · 02/06/2024 17:16

Mighty Hoopla.

An aeroplane.

DH grinding pepper by the sounds of it.

ginandheels · 02/06/2024 17:45

Our water feature
Birds singing
A neighbour playing the piano very well indeed
Distant traffic/planes
A bouncing ball a few gardens down
Some indistinct conversation from our house and beyond
Can smell a BBQ
Wish it wasn’t Monday tomorrow…

KarenOH · 02/06/2024 17:47

Birds - we have a noisy Robin
the churn of a plane doing something plane like as it approached the airport
DD toddler chit chat as she paints and washes her farm animals
the clatter of the neighbours coming dinner a few doors up - multi gen household with an outdoor kitchen and it’s making me realllly hungry smelling it.

Is this a stealth complaint about children post?

No idea what that means

The Four Tops.

FeebasAquarium · 02/06/2024 17:55

Birds (very loudly), the odd car, and faintly my radio, dcs fifa and next doors radio (we should perhaps coordinate and choose the same station!)
But this is the first time this afternoon that I haven’t heard either sides power tool/lawn mower/hedge trimmer.

MaryFuckingFerguson · 02/06/2024 17:55

A very noisy robin, collared doves. Occasional traffic.

ScarletWitchM · 02/06/2024 17:59

Blackwall tunnel is closed so all cars are coming down my road as a diversion so non stop traffic noise plus constant car horns beeping. Neighbours one side have loud euro trash music on loudly, other side just sitting out talking loudly (about 8 of them) to the back gardens someone has been drilling or sawing all day and a few houses down are kids screaming and arguing. Oh and City Airport restrictions have ended so now I also have low flying planes every 10 mins

AyrshireTryer · 02/06/2024 18:00

Next door are jet washing, they have just moved in.
The people who back on to us have two autistic children, who don't speak, but make grunting, squealing type noises - which I find strangely pleasant and comforting.
OH is putting up lights and there is the occasional "fcuk" when the wire gets tangled.
I don't think I've ever been happier.

DaffydownClock · 02/06/2024 18:40

The occasional plane coming over heading for Bristol airport, a blackbird in the woods behind us, the pond fountain ⛲️, nothing else. Despite living on a small housing estate with a number of young families it’s very rare we hear anyone.
We’re very, very lucky.

Joystir59 · 02/06/2024 18:48

Seagulls, holiday-letters, a speedboat running pleasure trips across the day. Music drifting up from the fairground down on the seafront. My dog barking.
