This time last year I lived in a new build with a tiny garden next door to a couple with 3 kids, 2 dogs, a hot tub, a trampoline and a love of inviting everyone over.

I can hear a lawnmower now but I couldn’t care less.

A builder cutting paving slabs for a neighbours new drive. Yes, I know he should not be making loud noises on a Sunday but the owners have had a terrible time with their renovation so everyone around is being very understanding about weekend noises.

The first builder just walked away saying he had gone bankrupt and left the house with no roof, just a thin plastic cover - in the middle of winter storms! The owners were on holiday abroad and had no idea that there was water running through the interior ceilings until they checked some cameras when they realised the builder was not on site as promised. The builder owes them £13,000 and there is a court case pending.

The owners have taken on the role of project managing the completion of the work but are reliant on various tradesmen helping out in between other jobs they have on as builders are in great demand around here. This means they might be working at weekends, summer evenings and all the recent bank holidays.

I feel so sorry for the owners as do our other neighbours, we just want them to get the job finished as they have been living in a building site for so long.

At the moment birds, in 10 minutes or so it’ll be motorcycles going at 180mph past the end of the road for the next hour, and helicopters. Also can hear race commentary.

Stereophonics. AirPods needed to drown out cars, planes, lawnmowers, dogs and neighbours’ chitchat. Wouldn’t be without them!

I got all excited wondering how you could hear Stereophonics, then realised you meant you were listening to them on the airpods.
Best way to drown out unwanted sounds for sure!

Birdsong and parakeet chatter and bees- that's all

25percent · 02/06/2024 13:14

Low flying light aircraft. Anytime the weather is even slightly pleasant we have at least two flying around all day. Selfish fuckers.

Boredmum24 · 02/06/2024 13:23

Birds DH cutting the grass and the neighbours talking

Startingagainandagain · 02/06/2024 13:25

Lawn-movers

Loud seagulls on the roofs and various other birds

Occasional bark from a dog from one of my neighbours' gardens.

RDMPrules · 02/06/2024 13:27

Loads of bees buzzing round my flowers, birds, the neighbours doing some gardening, people calling their dogs on the nearby green, and a background bleepy musuc from my son's computer game lol.

DatingDinosaur · 02/06/2024 13:35

Aeroplane. Birds. Kids playing in the garden. Neighbour cutting the grass. Other neighbour talking to, literally, a plank of wood (he's putting a shed/summer house thing up and it doesn't sound like it's going well!)

edwinbear · 02/06/2024 13:38

Birds, tress and the neighbours kids chatting & laughing (not at all screechy). We’re very lucky with our neighbours, we’re in SE London with tiny gardens which all back on to each other, but everyone is respectful of each other.

Hotnamehere · 02/06/2024 13:41

Traffic, birds and DH clattering about in his shed. God knows what he is doing in there.

JamSlaaaaag · 02/06/2024 13:47

Neighbour loudly revving his Ferrari. Yes we all know you have a Ferrari, No it hasn’t made your cock bigger.

The woman next door with her diesel powered woodchipper feeding a million branches through it. It occasionally stops but that's when she gets the diesel powered chainsaw out to cut more branches. And the wood chipper starts again.

She's wearing ear defenders. We aren't.

She keeps this activity for sunny weekend lunchtimes and it continues to sundown.

I feel for you. Whatever happened to the social convention that you don't do noisy stuff on a Sunday?

Floralnomad · 02/06/2024 14:10

Other people’s children playing a variety of games

JamSlaaaaag · 02/06/2024 14:10
