Was lovely earlier - a red kite was calling and swooping around. Lots of birdsong - house martins, blackbirds and a robin.
Now got a helicopter buzzing nearby (we're a couple of miles off a motorway so somethings gone awry) and someone's got out one of those super annoying tennis swing pole things where you hit the ball. I may have to sneak out later under cover of darkness with my scissors!😜

Soberfutures · 02/06/2024 11:32

Neighbours strimming there garden. Though they have no grass just random weeds and old chairs and things they burn in there so no idea what is left to strim??????

On a nicer note can here the kids Sunday footy league playing.

Hatmehit · 02/06/2024 11:40

Birdsong: blackbirds, wood pigeons, blue tits, sparrows, wrens. My chickens, bees, and sheep. Sheets flapping on the washing line.

StrangewaysHereWeCome · 02/06/2024 11:41

Bit of distant road noise, the breeze in the trees, a plane going over. Next door are watering their garden, so the tap going on and off. Plus a Vivaldi concerto for two trumpets playing very, very quietly on my radio.

WetBandits · 02/06/2024 11:42

Birds, someone’s lawnmower and my lovely elderly neighbour chatting away to my dog who has his nose through the gap in the fence as he loves her! She hears him scamper outside and calls him up to the fence to say hello to him every day Grin

I love where I live Smile

I have my Merlin bird app on so I can tell you I’m listening to
robin
blackbird
wren
song thrush
goldfinch
goldcrest
blue tit
jackdaw
great tit
red kite
rook
Collared dove
wagtail
barn owl (what’s he doing up at the moment)

all in the last 10min

I've got a variety of tits, blackbirds, swifts and skylarks.

Last week, my app also told me I was listening to a barn owl. It was mid afternoon and I didn't think so. I think the app sometimes gets it wrong.

Some fecker with a strimmer. Sometimes I wonder how there is anything left to cut/strim/ chop because of how much effort goes into removing greenery near me. It won't be long before someone gets a chainsaw out.

NoraLuka · 02/06/2024 11:45

Birdsong.

Chickens (ours), cows (farm next door), tractor but it’s some distance away so not sure who it is, and the wind in the trees.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 02/06/2024 11:45

Birds and my dh wittering on.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 02/06/2024 11:46

Sparrows - mostly chirps, but the occasional ranting at a black cat who walks along the wall past Sparrow Towers (my two are contentedly snoring in the living room). A randy Wood Pigeon. Two barks from a Staffie. DP in the kitchen making tea. A few cars - it's a lot better as more and more vehicles are electric, so the noise has reduced hugely over the last couple of years. A motorbike.

And the constant Hssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss of Tinnitus.

frozendaisy · 02/06/2024 11:47

frozendaisy · 02/06/2024 11:48

Is this a stealth complaint about children post?

Soberfutures · 02/06/2024 11:48

@Delphigirl is this just an app from play store? Would love that

For all of you saying birds I have this week downloaded the Merlin App which actually identifies the bird song.
I am obsessed!!

A neighbour told be about this yesterday and downloaded it this morning. It’s absolutely fascinating!

That chirpy little bird is a chiffchaff (who knew?) - I wouldn’t recognise it if I saw it, and we gave blackcaps locally.. Don’t think I’ve actually ever seen one in real life.

AlltheFs · 02/06/2024 11:50

My daughter playing with the neighbours children - it’s mostly giggling and the odd squeaking brake from bikes.
Lots of birds
Our hens
Occasional baa from the sheep
Neighbours music (very quiet) in the distance - some sort of gentle folk music I think
There’s a lawn mower in the distance and now and again hooves as we have a bridleway in the field or ramblers. Our village is hugely popular with walkers as there’s a private estate with a load of permissive paths.

It’s all rather glorious.

transformandriseup · 02/06/2024 11:51

Noisy crows

longtompot · 02/06/2024 11:53

Until 15 minutes ago it was bird song and the distant road. But now the new neighbour is I assume sunbathing p, which apparently involves listening to crap music at high volume :(

thecatneuterer · 02/06/2024 11:54

Annoyingly the Archers, very faintly, coming from my own radio in my kitchen, but that's because I can't be arsed to get up to turn it off.

Pasithean · 02/06/2024 11:55

Birds birds and more birds. and my chickens mooching around.

paulhollywoodshairgel · 02/06/2024 11:55

Birds, lawnmowers, cars and my son doing his maths homework at the garden table!

Mumteedum · 02/06/2024 11:55

My washing machine, birds chirping, lawnmower, my son talking to himself 😆

Lorrymum · 02/06/2024 11:57

Various birds and a few distant lawn mowers.

OldTinHat · 02/06/2024 11:57

Birds having what sounds like a rave.

Neighbours arguing about a plant.

1AnotherOne · 02/06/2024 11:57

Radio 1, some distance motorway noise (low hum), birds, occasional distance dog barks, occasional plane coming into land.

Devilshands · 02/06/2024 11:57

Dogs playing (mine).
Dog snoring (also mine).
Lawnmower in the distance.
Extractor fan (I have a big pot of chilli bubbling away on the hob) and my washing machine
