Just that!

I'll start.

I have a mixed south London accent come Surrey accent.
I basically queens English with a slight chav twang.
Born and raised in south London, moved to Surrey in my teens. It's helped my vocabulary tremendously.

What accent do you have?

Joanne Lumley is the only way I can describe it even though I'm half Welsh and half Scottish genetically. I wasn't brought up in either of those places.

South london. I dont pronounce any T's unless its the first letter of the word. It feels really unnatural and abnormal if I try to.

And words with a Th are only said with a F.

Fing, barf, free = 3

Sahara123 · 29/05/2024 17:08

Fairly neutral slightly posh which I STILL feel self conscious about after living in Scotland for 30 years !

OkPedro · 29/05/2024 17:09

North Dublin but not really your typical North Dublin accent. A bit posh I suppose..My Mam sent us for elocution lessons 😆

TeamPolin · 29/05/2024 17:09

Generic midlands/northern - not really easy to pin down. Live in the South now so it's softened but the main giveaway is I've my flat northern vowels, bath rhymes with wrath etc.

TealDog · 29/05/2024 17:10

Brummie. I moved away for uni at 18, and then moved again not long after but my accent hasn’t really changed.

LizzieBennett73 · 29/05/2024 17:11

One of my colleagues told me that I talk "proper" on the phone whatever that means but I'm Gloucestershire born and bred. So perhaps 80% Princess Anne with a 20% of Gloucester rugby shed oooh arrrrhh.

My Uncle can really roll his r's and sounds proper Gloucester.

Iamacatslave · 29/05/2024 17:11

Thames estuary 😃

Moier · 29/05/2024 17:12

I sound like Jane Mcdonald.
Well l do live very near her and went to same schools.

spiderplantmum · 29/05/2024 17:15

Surrey but also slightly unidentifiably European (lived in a European country until I was 3, raised by European parents, didn't learn English until I moved here!). Most English people don't notice it but anyone from anywhere else always ask where I'm from ("no, I mean where are you originally from?")

NeonSky · 29/05/2024 17:15

A soft Lancashire accent.

When I lived down south, so many people I worked with used to comment on how strong it was and liked to do (bad) impressions, when I moved back up north, I had people saying “ ooo you sound posh” or telling me my accent had changed.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 29/05/2024 17:16

I don't really know - I listen to my voice in horror when someone plays it back to me. "Works in Ryanair Customer Services" is the best way I can describe it.

mathanxiety · 29/05/2024 17:17

@CelesteCunningham

Yes, I don't have the ROCK dorsh-speak accent either, thank God. Mine is south Dublin as it once was. I feel like a relic.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 29/05/2024 17:17

ladybirdsanchez · 29/05/2024 16:48

Generic well-spoken southern English. No one can ever guess where I'm from!

Same here. I grew up in Kent (near Tunbridge Wells).

ColinRobinsonsFart · 29/05/2024 17:18

Posh Cheshire that goes into board Mancunian when pissed/angry.

princesspeppax · 29/05/2024 17:19

Glaswegian!

Fontainebleau007 · 29/05/2024 17:21

Southern English but moved to Northern Ireland a few years ago. My family have noticed a twang in my accent now 😂

Pieceofpurplesky · 29/05/2024 17:24

North West, Cheshire. The accent here has changed a lot from my parents generation - people can never place me, until I say grass and bus

GirlInTheMirror27 · 29/05/2024 17:27

South east kent mixed with a southern African and German accent. It's mixed up Grin

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 29/05/2024 17:33

Neutral middle class Irish, difficult to pin down for most. Turns into pure Cork guurrl after 2 glasses of pinot grigio.

Jewelanemone · 29/05/2024 17:37

Born and raised in Devon, elocution lessons as a child, lived in Surrey for the past 12 years. I'd say RP but the Devon comes back when I'm drunk or angry.

RandomUsernameHere · 29/05/2024 17:56

A slight London accent mixed with what people would describe as fairly "well spoken".

GentlemanJohnny · 29/05/2024 17:57

Sarf London.

What helped your vocabulary tremendously? Is this thread not about accents?

I pronounce my T's better now. And speak more clearly.
