The wondrous ofurlords!

Ooh that's something no longer on my "I have never" list - brushed a cat's teeth!

Why would I go to weddings? They mean nothing to me. I have no friends who are getting married - most of them now are at the "burying him under the patio" stage. I've been to two weddings in decades past and that was more than enough.

It's a trifle difficult to do a day trip to France from Australia. As it happens I have been, twice, so that is rather more travelling than the "day trip" variety. But if it wasn't that I was passionately interested in one period of French history, I wouldn't have included it in my journey. Modern France doesn't interest me.

You're still pushing the idea that people should do things you think they might enjoy. Does it not occur to you that we know our own minds and may be quite familiar with whatever the thing is, and know full well we don't want to waste time and money on it, and indeed are doing other things we do enjoy?

Again, you’re missing the point. I couldn’t give the slightest shit if you don’t go to weddings or leave the country - my point is that you KNOW you don’t want to because you’ve already tried it! I’m talking about people ruling out everyday experiences - like going abroad or to a wedding, not doing Class As -without trying them.

I agree! Never riding a bike?! So strange.

Fair enough @Catsmere your friends are all past the usual age for getting married, but surely you were in your 20s/30s at some stage...

As others have already explained, why should one bother with weddings? If one isn't interested and they're so "everyday" (unlike the huge palaver that seems to accompany them according to most MN posts about them) what's the point? Who cares? You're the one missing the point that people have different tastes from you and different values, and there's nothing to be gained in wasting time on this sort of thing if it's of no interest.

I only went to those weddings when I was much younger and they were close friends'. Anyone else I wouldn't bother. There is simply no appeal and they're not some sort of deep and meaningful life experience for a bored guest.

I have never been to a wedding as an adult. Because I have never been invited to one. /have no friends. That's not ruling it out .

Never watched a football match, or most other organised sports
Never laughed at Black Adder or enjoyed reading Terry Pratchett ( tho I have a v keen sense of humour in other ways)
Never visited a nightclub
Never watched most of the current films people talk about

Words · 28/05/2024 15:21

Never had a birthday party or been to a restaurant for an extended family gathering. ( although that is partially my preference, and partly a generational thing. I am old, and was brought up by older parents.)

But they are a great reason to get dressed up, see old friends/family, eat lots, drink lots and enjoy the party Grin

She wasn't a girl🤦‍♀️she was 21. Rachel Whitear. I still think about her.

There has been more than one female on the cover of a newspaper because of a drug overdose.

I’ve never tried hard drugs either, because knowing my luck I would immediately die.

MarkandElizabethForever · 28/05/2024 16:04

@BillyWhitney Yep, I'm aware of that...she's the one I'm talking about though.

Waitingfordoggo · 28/05/2024 08:11

I have never broken a bone or fainted including in childhood, and as an adult I have not had flu or needed to go to hospital, apart from when I had DC1.

Hoping I haven’t jinxed myself now!

Same here on the bones braking/fainting/hospital thing (apart from giving birth, and that went without a hitch)- never in my life… I’m always in very rude health, which is weird since I have 2 chronic illnesses, a genetic disorder and use a wheelchair!

I have never been to one as an adult, apart from my own. I don't think your experience is as unusual as some of these replies suggest.

Getonwitit · 28/05/2024 18:09

Never taken illegal drugs
Never had a tattoo
Never had a one night stand

LoveSandbanks · 28/05/2024 18:23

Tristar15 · 27/05/2024 20:22

Never taken any illegal drugs (apart from cannabis when a teenager). Have always been far too afraid that I’d be the one to have a terrible reaction and mess up my life completely.

Me too. Now I understand a bit about the supply chain of these things I despise them even more. I boycott Starbucks, I could hardly use illegal drugs that are distributed by “companies “ that deal in human trafficking etc!
