It’s pretty depressing (to me Grin) that there are people out there who haven’t seen JURASSIC PARK! 🦖

That's me.

I have never smoked or vaped.
I have never been to North America.
I have never been on and never will go on a cruise.

the80sweregreat · 28/05/2024 11:16

I've never seen any Jurassic park films ( maybe a trailer for the first one) I feel we need to move on from Dinosaurs , they are extinct or stone and that's that.
.. Or any ' Ring ' ones
Or Star Wars
My sons were obsessed with all the above. Dh used to be the one to take them to the cinema for those ones.

HeraSyndulla · 28/05/2024 11:16

Never had a credit card
Never had a mortgage
Never failed an exam
Never taken drugs
Never worked part time
Never been to Spain
Never worn diamonds
Never left my umbrella on a train

@Catsmere I think you’re misunderstanding me. I’m not saying anyone should, for example, jump out of a plane just so they can tick it off a list. There’s no way in hell I’ll be doing that - ever.

But why would you not go to at least one wedding, or do a day trip to France? You might find you enjoyed it, and if not, at least you know for sure and can say with confidence you won’t be doing that again!

dottiedodah · 28/05/2024 11:24

50n plus and never managed to insert a tampon, 2 DC though! never eaten oysters ,never ridden a horse .

Because everyone has their own priorities. Instead of going on a day trip to France someone may prefer to hike the Pennine Way or tour the Scottish Islands

Instead of going to a wedding someone may enjoy going to Glastonbury, Wimbledon, the Hay-on-Wye Book Festival or the Edinburgh Festival

Or they may prefer to stay at home, knitting and scrolling through MN ! 😂

FortunataTagnips · 28/05/2024 11:28

@KnitnNatterAuntie It’s not either or!

No, but it can be if that's someone's choice.

MarkandElizabethForever · 28/05/2024 10:24

@Johaanah yes I am aware...I don't get your post tbh. It was the photo of Rachel that scared me off ever trying drugs so I don't know why everyone keeps bringing up Leah. I was 8 when Leah died, I had no idea about her thankfully.

I posted the info because so many people kept coming back saying you were thinking of Leah Betts, even after you’d explained you were not.

Leah Betts took Ecstasy, Rachel was a heroine addict - the circumstances were not even remotely similar, but they both died tragically.

Not a big deal really, out of curiosity if you hadn’t of seen the photo of Rachel would you have ever considered taking heroine?

RampantIvy · 28/05/2024 11:36

I'm surprised at the wedding criticism posts.
Some people may have very small families/not many friends or family members and friends who just don't want to get married or who are already married

I have been to just 2 weddings and 2 evening dos in the last 14 years. This is because everyone I know was either already married, not of marriageable age, not in a relationship or not wanting to get married.

MarkandElizabethForever · 28/05/2024 11:37

@Johaanah yeah i get that. I just never compared them or said anything to make anyone think I was talking about Leah in particular so it was weird that so many people made the assumption.

I've absolutely no idea, I was 13 when I saw that photo and quite naive so it was probably my first exposure to it. I'd like to think not but I guess I'll never know.

That photo of Rachel Whitear is harrowing. I was a 19 student nurse at the time and the first death I had to deal with was a heroin addict. I can still hear her mother screaming. All these years later.

HcbSS · 28/05/2024 12:51

As this is a thread where people are listing 'things I've never done', no-one knows all the things the PP's HAVE done.

No-one can, or would want to do everything

So someone may list that they've never been to a friends wedding, been to an art gallery or had a tattoo. But that person may have been an Olympic competitor, climbed Mount Everest, had a book published, saved someone's life, sailed the Atlantic or given birth to quads!

We're all getting a very skewed idea of people from just listing the 'I've never's'

Yes, this, exactly! I've done lots of things I wanted to. Possibly because I wasn't wasting time doing things other people enjoy but I don't ...

Catsmere · 28/05/2024 14:45

Why would I go to weddings? They mean nothing to me. I have no friends who are getting married - most of them now are at the "burying him under the patio" stage. I've been to two weddings in decades past and that was more than enough.

It's a trifle difficult to do a day trip to France from Australia. As it happens I have been, twice, so that is rather more travelling than the "day trip" variety. But if it wasn't that I was passionately interested in one period of French history, I wouldn't have included it in my journey. Modern France doesn't interest me.

You're still pushing the idea that people should do things you think they might enjoy. Does it not occur to you that we know our own minds and may be quite familiar with whatever the thing is, and know full well we don't want to waste time and money on it, and indeed are doing other things we do enjoy?
