Like you literally got NOTHING for it.
DD wanted to go to drama club for ages. Loved the first term. Asked if she wanted to do the second term. No sooner had a I sent the money across she came and told me she didn't want to do it and has been moaning and tantruming about it ever since. £90 completely wasted. I'm feeling pretty salty about it atm. Help me feel better about it with your wasted money stories?

This week comings camping trip. Weather is going to be shocking so not going just to sit in a muddy field and wet tent for 4 days bored to have mountains of washing and a wet tent to dry out. So actually after typing that out perhaps £170 well spent? 😂

We’ve done this a few times. Either packed up early or just not gone!… We now bon’t book until a day or 2 beforehand and religiously watch the weather. I hate camping in the rain.

Another lockdown purchase - carpet washer. Used once then, to do hall carpet, about two square yards. Since then it's been parked in the garage. I only used part of one of the three shampoo samples.

NCT 17 years ago. Had DS before the first antenatal class. Went to a couple of classes and leader was really snooty about my CS (while DS still in NICU). I hoped there would be some info about babies/feeding, but it was all birth prep. The group were frankly horrid and I avoided them until they all went back to work. £136 was such a lot of money to us at the time and I’m still a bit bitter.

I went to NCT classes 42 years ago and had a similar experience with the leader, who lost interest in me as soon as I said I was having a CS. On the other hand, some of our closest friends to this day are those who we met at the NCT classes all those years ago, and we’re now all grandparents!

Bought a guitar for son. We have 4 boys and dh plays guitar so we were excited they’d all get to it. Youngest 9 and not one child has done more than hold it, get excited, tried a few chords then walked away

It's walking machine not washing machine 😁

Oh 😂

franke · 25/05/2024 06:35

So many clothes bought on ebay over the years that aren't quite right. All sent to charity.

Oh, yes and plants. Died or dug up 🤷🏻‍♀️

HamBagelNoCheese · 25/05/2024 06:35

Spent 50 odd quid on a flea/tick tablet for my dog which he ate and then 10 minutes later vomited back up.

I have no shame in saying I picked said tablet out of said vomit, rinsed it off and fed it to him again!

My marriage and subsequent divorce. Thousands and thousands.

Polkadoteyes · 25/05/2024 06:39

Parking fine I disputed and posted about on here that then cost me £400. Should've paid the £30. The justice still rankles. I called the number to register to park - in fact called twice - gave credit card details and got the text to ask for my car reg but it didn't go through (my reply ).
My fault apparently. No car park attendant and no helpline or other option to call. Still furious

Fraaahnces · 25/05/2024 06:43

I’m happily married, but my wedding. I didn’t want one. I felt like a fraud. Should have just snuck off and eloped.

£20000 on a brand new Smart ForTwo electric car. At under 3000 miles it stopped charging reliably and an electric car which doesn't charge is not a lot of use. It's spent the last 9 months back at the dealership while I wait for a decision from the motor ombudsman on a refund. Still having to pay for the insurance.

Howbizarre22 · 25/05/2024 06:47

Ah I’m with everyone on the parking charges & gym memberships!!

I’ll add clothes I bought online which were slightly too tight but I kept as an incentive’ to lose weight for 🙄

GeckoFeet · 25/05/2024 06:53

Paid in full for 5 nights at an air BnB for operation for my parents as hospital is 2 hours away. Less than 24 hours before op due they reschedule it for the following month.

It's not refundable. Cost £450.

unsync · 25/05/2024 06:53

My exH and his financial abuse - he still owes me over £100k. I've come to terms with the fact I'll never get it back.

Easipeelerie · 25/05/2024 06:55

Years and years of unused Camping and Caravanning Club and National Trust membership.

£200 on noise cancelling headphones I left on the first flight I used them. 🤦‍♀️

Ouch!

Dh bought the most awful coat.
I was delighted when he left it on a flight and although he asked it was never found.

GoodlifeGlow · 25/05/2024 07:00

Cancelled a tui holiday when we entered lockdown lost ££££s if we’d waited a week they would have cancelled and REFUNDED us. Still bitter!!

OneRedSandal · 25/05/2024 07:00

Ex dp was a stoner and cocklodger. Thousands of £ literally set on fire over 3 years.

Ds7 has autism so if he rejects something then that's it, it's dead to him. So many expensive coats rejected for being too rustley, too plastic, too bright, etc. He rocks around in a battered Dino coat that's too small for him now. Expensive lego sets declared 'too hard' then never touched again. Lego table that I had high hopes for but he hated. £££s on karate lessons only for him to meltdown outside the class one day then refuse to ever else foot in again. He's lucky he's cute 🤣

MinnieMountain · 25/05/2024 07:01

My wedding dress. My father insisted on giving me the money for one from a bridal boutique when I was happy with Monsoon. £1,000 for 10 hours wear seems such a waste.

jotex · 25/05/2024 07:04

A car while living in London!

Flopsy145 · 25/05/2024 07:04

£360 on a flight to Thailand, ended up not going because a guy I was with at the time didn't want me to (I was 20). Couldn't get a refund. Broke up shortly after, although then a few months later met my now husband so maybe not wasted in the grand scheme 😂

PrincessRainbowSparkles · 25/05/2024 07:08

Rent. Just absolutely money down the drain. Paying someone else's mortgage who can evict me anytime they want. Like many I had no choice at the time but looking back I wish I'd gone down the council house route instead of private renting.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 25/05/2024 07:21

Oh god the toys. “Muuuuum, this is what I really really want for my birthday, I will play with it all the time, it’s great” played with once(so I can’t return it) sat in a box.
See also clothes for (then) teen daughter.
