Looks like this date is to be announced. I’ll be away unfortunately but let's hope this is true.

Fuck we're away too!

CeeJay81 · 22/05/2024 16:32

Yesss. Goodbye Tories 😁(hopefully!)

PermanentTemporary · 22/05/2024 16:32

Thank goodness. I suppose they were waiting until inflation dropped, plus long days in July mean more older people vote.

You forgot to add self-serving, women hating, pocket-lining...

PermanentTemporary · 22/05/2024 16:33

Should be time to register for postal votes if needed?

BeaumisterandLeary · 22/05/2024 16:34

If you will be away, get a postal vote sorted ASAP!!!

missmoffatt2705 · 22/05/2024 16:35

If you are away, organise a postal vote. I had to do this as I work as a poll clerk but not in my local station.

piglet81 · 22/05/2024 16:34

Thank you.

We will be in the middle of nowhere which is a shame as I can remember watching tv the night of May 1st 1997 and thoroughly enjoying it Grin

FOHM · 22/05/2024 16:42

Yes. Postal votes for those away. Can they be used for people without the required photo id too? I certainly hope so.

Just checking recent posts by key MN Tories to see what the attack lines will be.

Georgieporgie29 · 22/05/2024 16:45

Thanks for this, we don’t actually go away until the week after and dh and I already have postal votes but it’s given me the kick up the bum to remind ds to register for postal. Will sort it tonight when he’s home from work.

I hope it is before our holiday though, I do like watching the results announced through the night - crikey just realised how boring I sound!

My elderly mother is excited about getting to vote one more time. She’s very keen to see the back of the Tories.

FrenchFancie · 22/05/2024 16:48

I’m gutted at the date - I might have to have a proxy. I’m not away but have a hospital minor op that day. Might be able to get in very very first thing depending on where the polling station is!!

LeftLegRightLegYourBodyWillFollow · 22/05/2024 16:49

Good. Now get out.

You don't need photo ID for your postal vote.

The alternative is to arrange for a proxy ie someone to cast your vote on your behalf. But you have plenty of time to arrange a postal vote, which is the better option as you will be casting your vote yourself.

RobinBobbin · 22/05/2024 16:55

Should add, that postal votes can be delivered to a polling station in your area up to 10pm on polling day. However the rules recently changed and the person delivering should be a close family member and has to sign a declaration to state why they are delivering your postal vote.

This is a total faff for them and polling station staff so better to stick it in a postbox before election day!

TwattyMcFuckFace · 22/05/2024 16:55

Thank you OP.

I've just applied for a postal vote. I've been meaning to do it for ages and it took me less than 5 minutes just now 👍

PermanentTemporary · 22/05/2024 16:57

Somewhat overexcited. Am applying to work as a count assistant. I need to get one of those rubber thimbles my mum used to have.

FOHM · 22/05/2024 16:57

Im going to get a postal vote as I’ll be overseas on 4th July.

I'm sad to miss the numerous'Portillo' moments I anticipate happening that night.

I went to bed after the Portillo moment. It was so, so pleasing to watch I'm lose his seat.

MushMonster · 22/05/2024 17:00

I am over the moon! I think I will be celebrating this one with afternoon tea, a party or something like that!

PermanentTemporary · 22/05/2024 17:01

If I don't get to work at the count, I'll see if the local will do a lock-in with a big screen TV
