Looks like this date is to be announced. I’ll be away unfortunately but let's hope this is true.

OP posts:

Thank fuck for that, can't wait to see the back of them.

DrStrangesSmarterSister · 22/05/2024 17:58

I think he knows he will be beaten and wants the summer off

Exactly what I said 🙄

I think he wants to bugger off to California and get his girls enrolled into an elite school before October.
To be fair to him, if I was married to a multi millionnaire I'd do that rather than try and lead the reactionary shit show that is the Conservative party.

The headline on the Daily Hate is "Things can only get wetter" Grin

BringMeSunshineAllDayLong · 22/05/2024 18:09

Many old people aren't stupid enough to vote for this bunch of corrupt bastards who have trashed our country in every which way. My parents 100% won't

What do we think? Genuinely?

I am a Labour voter, will vote Labour despite my dislike of Keir as an effective leader. But I think Tories will win.

I think that:

MN is going to become unbearable with personal insults from both sides.

I think that it’s possible the tories will lose by a significant landslide but wouldn’t surprise me if they still won.

But I don’t think that labour will win by the landslide they’re hoping and I think it’s possible we could end up with a coalition between labour and Lib Dem.

And because I couldn’t edit my previous post for some reason. I think that it may be a case of be careful what you wish for, and it will be interesting to see discussion on here a year from now.

A coalitionn between Labour and Lib Dem will be fine by me, if it means a change in the electoral system and constitutional reform. I really think that the FPTP electoral system is one of the reasons why we have such chronic short termism and just lurch from one election campaign to another, not sorting out anything that may take longer than 5 years to resolve- so NHS, education etc.

GrandTheftWalrus · 22/05/2024 18:19

My Facebook is just full of statuses saying SNP & Tories out.

MrsWolf39 · 22/05/2024 18:22

Oooh. Our very own Independence (from the tories) day.

I can’t see the Conservatives have a cat in hells chance of winning.
People want a change.

Im a lifelong Labour voter but
unless Starmer gives way on his anti women trans policy I will vote Conservative, I’m not voting to lose my rights and I’m not spoiling my ballot paper what’s the point of that.

It will be a waste of a vote though.

Frith2013 · 22/05/2024 18:26

I work for elections so do apply for postal votes if you need them!

Just planning with my brother what we're going to do when I get home from work (11.30pm). So excited!

Really.
I think Labour will get a landslide.
A coalition with Libdems I think would be a disaster.

weebarra · 22/05/2024 18:36

I wonder if it's intentional that they've called it for the first week of the Scottish school holidays? As the tories always do so well up here.
We're away but DH and I have applied for our postal votes.

OneFrenchEgg · 22/05/2024 18:38

I genuinely don't think there are enough people who are anti Tory and who will come together to vote a majority alternative. Keir has not proven to be the lure to Tory voters who might be tempted by a lookalike and I still don't hear widespread condemnation (we are VERY blue in my area) of tories. More 'you don't remember Michael Foot/what about Corbin/the three day week/can't stand Rayner' etc etc etc

What do you think the Tories are doing and will do to protect women?

Perhaps.
I live in a true blue area, been tory for decades, what i hear is people are just pissed off with public services GPs and Roads being the two that seem to come up the most.

So whilst Starmer is an unknown, i think the Tory slogan of "Don't risk going back to square one" is actually quite appealing to many tory voters.

Lots on MN here
thread entitled something like
will you vote Tory just on transgender issues.
It includes recent updates on Starmers veto etc v Conservatives
Lots of attachments I think as well. ( If you’re interested. )

We just moved out of Nigel Farage UKIP constituency. ( as was )
Very Conservative.

But with loads of new housing and younger people it looks like it could swing Labour quite easily.

Probably got a Jet2Holidays tab open and the kids school calendars and trying to get the best date while his wife checks if she can get annual leave for the same time as him 😂

PermanentTemporary · 22/05/2024 19:29

I think the polls showing an unshiftable 20% lead for Labour are soft, but not that soft. I think there will be a Labour majority but I hope it's not a total wipeout.

If the attack line is really 'Lammy - ew! Raynes- urgh!' then I'm not too concerned.

Dancehalldarling · 22/05/2024 19:50

CadyEastman · 22/05/2024 16:33

You forgot to add self-serving, women hating, pocket-lining...

Can you elaborate on women hating please? The Tory’s currently have my vote purely for being the only party that seems able to define a woman.
