Something that's true no one would believe

so Something happened this morning that's so funny to me but I can't really say it to anyone because they'll think I'm nuts so I'll start.

i genuinely turned a corner in Lidl this morning and Tracy beaker was there (dani harmer) I'd heard rumours she had moved to my town but I wasn't sure. But no, sure enough there she was.

I won't say where just incase there's some odd balls super fans but there you go. Have you ever bumped into a celeb in an odd place or something happened that no one would believe?

I saw my doppelganger. I went to catch a bus and she was there waiting for the same bus. She was absolutely identical to me. Plus I was wearing a particularly distinctive t shirt that day and she was wearing the exact same one! I was too shocked to say anything but I wish I had.

In the run up to this a couple of people mentioned having seen me out (when I wasn't) and that they'd said hello and I'd ignored them, so she must have lived in that area. But I never saw her again after that and I've now moved away. However the area we were in was across the country from where I was born so she was unlikely to have been a relative.

As a teen (late 80s - no mobiles) i had a premonition that my parents were coming home FOUR DAYS early from their holiday. It was around mid day i suddenly 'saw' them clear as day in my minds eye on a road about 20 mins drive away heading home. No warning. No phone calls.

I told my mate and we flew around tidying up. She thought i was mental, but she helped, and sure enough, 20 mins later, in they walked ... (pleased and surprised at the state of the house)

I bump into and talk to Jane Mcdonald all the time.
We both live in same area and same city.

I LOVE Jane McDonald! Is she as nice in person as you’d imagine her to be??

I played a game of "rock, paper, scissors" with Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins.

Taylor won.

Lenny Henry's daughter nearly broke my thumb by sitting on it once
Used to help him and his daughter get onto the horses for their lessons

MrsMiddleMother · 22/05/2024 08:39

I've seen the actress who plays Ronnie Mitchell in the supermarket I work at and I was in the hairdressers at the same time as molly mae once

SeriaMau · 22/05/2024 08:42

Harry Kane was working on the checkout at Lidl last year. I said ‘great game last week Harry’. He laughed and said ‘everyone says that’. I’m pleased he gets so much support whilst doing a rather mundane second job.

thecatsthecats · 22/05/2024 09:03

I have three degrees of separation from two presidents. Two who really don't get on too.

thecatsthecats · 22/05/2024 09:04

Thinking about it, that means I have four degrees of separation from ALL world leaders, because they can be directly contacted by the other two.

Unless he also simultaneously potted all seven red/yellow (or stripe/spot) balls at the same time, he actually instantly lost the game, as you can’t pot the black until you’ve cleared all your other balls. So to speak.

They could have been playing American 9-ball pool in which case potting the 9 ball off the break does mean you win the game. The 9-ball isn’t black though.

Eh? She's a B list actor, not a unicorn Confused

I think B-list is being generous.

Marc Almond once picked up my Sainsbury's shopping bag full of food on the bus, thinking it was his. He was very apologetic.

You've just reminded me that John Malkovich once stole my taxi on Oxford Street. That fucker.

I had this with someone who went to the same college as me. Where it got weird was that I then went to uni three hours from home, and two different people recognised me from our college in the first week - but both thought I was her 😳

You've just reminded me that John Malkovich once stole my taxi on Oxford Street. That fucker.

Talking of taxis, I once saw this slightly bladdered woman who appeared to be wearing slippers fall out of one in the West End. Just as I was thinking “Bloody hell, state of her!”, I realised it was Denise Welch.

Weenurse · 22/05/2024 09:26

Men who ejaculate more than 21 times a month have a reduced incidence of prostate cancer.
All mammals empty their bladder in 21 seconds ( plus or minus 13 seconds, for those with pelvic organ prolapse or prostate issues)

Do you mean Dick and Dom ?

That is exactly who I meant. Oh dear 😂

mondaytosunday · 22/05/2024 09:31

This is totally believable but as we are celebrity spotting my mother sat next to Richard Harris at the theatre in Boston. She's from Ireland too so they had a nice chat. She said he got up at the interval and didn't return (poor actors if they knew)!
I gave him directions to a shop to buy candles while he was being pestered by a fan that same year (I worked in a boutique on an expensive shopping street).
But more unbelievable is my parents went to Israel and were in a coffee shop and a friend of theirs walked by... they both lived in the US at the time.
I was on a tour of the colosseum in Rome and a woman came up to me - she was one of my mother's carers! I live here she lived in Boston.

ProverbialBoot · 22/05/2024 09:40

I've stood next to Shane Ritchie watching our respective sons play school rugby on many an early cold Saturday morning.

Different school, also sat next to Boyzone dad watching school swimming lessons.

People with TV and Music careers also have family "normal" everyday/mundane lives too.

Lululime2024 · 22/05/2024 10:12

my auntie was a primary school teacher and she went on holiday to Cuba, first day off the holiday she sits down by the pool with a cocktail only to hear from behind "hi miss richardson" she couldn't believe it 😂 one of the kids from her class on the same place, same week, in the same hotel

It's not unbelievable but it's unusual: I'm 52 and my grandad was born in 1881. We never met..

A few months ago, DH saw Gerri Halliwell in Hobbycraft, Banbury, buying bits n bobs.

Sharontheodopolodous · 22/05/2024 10:20

Not a celeb, but nobody believes this story is true (I swear it is)

My parents went on holiday and met another couple

Let's say my parents are called Peter and Jane smithson-the other couple where called Peter and Jane Smith

Both shared the same birthday month (so my mother and the other lady where both June and my father and the other bloke, both Dec)

Both couples had one dd (me and their dd) and 3 sons (my younger brothers are twins-theirs where not) but all 8 of us shared the same names in the same order, had the same middle names (mine is very unusual) and same dates of birth

We'd all gone to the same named school but in different areas-my parents lived in a street that was named after a local village-the same village that the other couple lived in

They lived in the same numbered house-say my parents lived at '69 name of village',the other couple lived at '69 village'

They stayed in touch-i fell pregnant with my dd but refused to tell anyone the name I'd chosen

The dd of the other couple had a dd,same day as I'd had dd (within the same hour) and both had similar names-think Sophia louise/Sophie lousia and they where the same birth weight, wore the same first babygro and we had the same (unusual style and patterned) pram/pushchair

My brother then got married,in the same month as their ds,both brides had the same name and both went on to name their newborn ds's the same name

I went nc with my family so didn't find out what happened after that

I do know my poor father was freaked out about it but my mother stayed in touch with them

delphinedupont · 22/05/2024 10:22

When I was 10 and COMPLETELY in love with Mark Owen from Take That, he went into a little shop my nana used to work in. She didn’t have a clue who he was and just let him wander off without so much as an autograph! I still remind her of what she did to me and that I won’t forgive her 😁.

Pineapples don't grow on trees.

I was going to put this. It was on a thread I did a few years ago and I along with many others didn't believe it until we checked.
I still tell people whenever I get the chance. Why did so many of us believe they did?

rollonretirementfgs · 22/05/2024 10:44

What an unremarkable experience

MistyRoseBlue · 22/05/2024 11:02

50 years ago my brother kicked a ball into a neighbours garden . Thinking they were out he snuck in the garden to retrieve the ball , looked through their living room window and swears he saw the husband dressed as a woman complete with make up sat next to his wife watching TV . Of course no one believed him but I do .
