Help! The tooth fairy forgot. What do I do??

DS lost a tooth yesterday. He put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy like every time only I bloody forgot!! He's just come into my room all sad saying "the tooth fairy forgot me" what do I do? So far all I've said is maybe she doesn't work weekends which is obviously rubbish.
Any ideas very gratefully received. Thank you

Little note when he goes for breakfast saying ‘sorry, busy night’. Our tooth fairy had tiny handwriting and left the occasional note

Jifmicroliquid · 19/05/2024 07:25

Can you say you had a message off her and she had a really busy night so couldn’t make it before he woke up? Tell him she’s said she is coming tonight and he’ll get a little compensation for her lateness. Then maybe add an extra coin?

RiotC · 19/05/2024 07:25

Do you have a pound? (Or however much you give?) send child downstairs to check for signs of tooth fairy. Grab tooth, leave pound and then get him to check again!

Some BS about maybe it was a busy night and all is well!

WaltzingWaters · 19/05/2024 07:26

Could you hide the money with an extra treat somewhere else in the house with a note from tooth fairy saying she couldn’t get to the extra treat to his bedroom or something like that? Maybe chocolate or something saying she was worried the chocolate would melt under his pillow.

BendingSpoons · 19/05/2024 07:27

Tell him to leave it again tonight. Set an alarm on your phone. Write a note with your left hand (if you are right handed) saying 'sorry I was ill/busy etc. Thank you for your patience, here is something extra'.

Hiddenvoice · 19/05/2024 07:27

Write a little note and say she was incredibly busy last night but will be round tonight instead so can make sure he looks after it today and places it under his pillow tonight.

I used to set an alarm on my phone to remind myself to leave the pound before going to bed!

Gorgonemilezola · 19/05/2024 07:29

Go to his room and have a really good look, in bed clothes, under bed, in pillowcase. I know it's there somewhere.....

Little note and extra treat (double money in our house) somewhere else. Maybe outside? Explaining it was a busy night.

ExcellentCat · 19/05/2024 07:30

The tooth fairy can’t leave chocolate!! 😂
but unfortunately you may have now committed yourself to writing tiny notes in glittery pen until he’s lost them all.
Our tooth fairy now has a name and a back story. I regret my choices.

DoorOpening · 19/05/2024 07:30

“Oh dear, she must have had a very busy night, don’t worry sometimes this happens. Let’s hope she comes next time. Breakfast?”

I have to say that I do love that you think the not working weekends excuse is “obviously rubbish”, when we are dealing with er… the tooth fairy, which to anyone over the age of 8 is also “obviously rubbish”! 😂

OneForTheRoadThen · 19/05/2024 07:31

Pop the money on the floor under his bed as if it had fallen down in the night. This actually happened to my daughter, I was worried as didn't think I'd forgotten 🤣

DustyFire · 19/05/2024 07:32

It happens :) go and look for it now. I bet it’s there somewhere…

Sunshinedaytoday · 19/05/2024 07:32

She knew you were going to change the bedding today, so the money is in the fresh pillow case in the cupboard.

Mouthfulofquiz · 19/05/2024 07:35

She can’t work all the time! Mine went to a party once and couldn’t make it back in time. So she left a tiny tiny note and double the cash (£2) and a teeny bit of glitter.

foghead · 19/05/2024 07:37

Did you check properly? Have your breakfast and we'll check again

Itsrainingten · 19/05/2024 07:39

Thanks everyone a note is a good idea. The cat was asleep on his bed with him last night so maybe I could say she was scared of the cat so left the money somewhere else?
And as for everyone over 8 knows the tooth fairy is rubbish. He's 9! If I'm honest I think he DOES know it's rubbish but maybe he's just sad that I forgot (or he's playing me for the cash!!) 😁

Simething like this, can it have slipped down the back of the bed or something?

LostMySocks · 19/05/2024 07:40

I did this with DS2's second tooth. Told him it must have come out too late to be added to that night. Luckily tooth 3 came out that day so he had £2 under his pillow. Cue tooth fairy must have known comments

Anawi · 19/05/2024 07:42

It is a well known fact (in ny, slightly forgetful) house that the tooth fairy can't fly if it is too windy, so it must have been too windy for her last night but she will definitely come tonight instead 🤷‍♀️😊

YouAndMeAndThem · 19/05/2024 07:42

Our tooth fairy had a busy night recently and didn't make it and my daughter went off to school a bit upset but when she got home, the tooth had been collected and a handful of 20ps had been left behind with a tiny note saying sorry ! Didn't seem to phase her!

Tcateh · 19/05/2024 07:44

I guess the difficulty is that the tooth is still there.
I think I'd go put the money on the floor slightly hidden then say of the tooth 'oh she must have been so so busy it was a Saturday night' and she forgot to take the tooth ?

Then move the morning along with an extra special treat for breakfast?

We have to be magicians in times like these 🙂

Jifmicroliquid · 19/05/2024 07:45

Tooth fairy has a cat allergy and if she’d have come in with the cat, she’d have sneezed and woken him up?
Or am I going too far with this now 😅

Lindy2 · 19/05/2024 07:46

She was running late so she'll come tonight instead.

LynetteScavo · 19/05/2024 07:49

Fairies are definitely scared of cats! They sometimes leave money after a child has woken up and the cat has left the room. You'll know for sure the fairy left the money during the day, because they leave a light dusting of glitter (food glitter works really well. as it's very fine)

Sadsadworld · 19/05/2024 07:49

Did he remember to leave his window open for her? If not, try again tonight?
