Help! The tooth fairy forgot. What do I do??

DS lost a tooth yesterday. He put it under his pillow for the tooth fairy like every time only I bloody forgot!! He's just come into my room all sad saying "the tooth fairy forgot me" what do I do? So far all I've said is maybe she doesn't work weekends which is obviously rubbish.
Any ideas very gratefully received. Thank you

For future occasions-

As soon as you are informed about the tooth, pop £1 in your bra. When you get ready for bed it will fall out and bounce around, leaving you wondering why. Then you remember!

Fairies are scatterbrained - sometimes it takes a night or two for them to cover your area.

Pretend to look under the bed etc
Oh look here 'it' is ..she must have dropped it

Our tooth fairy was notoriously unreliable. Tell him be grateful his one only slipped up once!

CelesteCunningham · 19/05/2024 08:06

Maybe the coin is somewhere else like his bookshelves, or whatever is closer to the window? She must've been too scared of the cat to come get the tooth and so just left the coin. Adorable kitty must look like a tiger to a tiny little fairy...

@Itsrainingten Bank holiday weekend, innit? You can’t expect her to work ALL the time! Be reasonable, DS. She’s on a short vacation at an AI-resort just for fairies in Mykonos. It’ll obviously be there Tuesday night. 😉

would be AMAZING if you could put some sand and a shell with the money on Tuesday.

When I was a child, the tooth fairy forgot for about 3 nights in a row. No magic was lost as I was definitely just playing my parents for money, I never believed. I think mum was just trying to get out of leaving 20p by then, but I was determined to get the cash!

MotherofChaosandDestruction · 19/05/2024 08:15

A note that they went to a party or try the 'your room was a mess so they couldn't possibly pick your tooth up' trick. Clean room and magic intact.

Keepthosenamesgoing · 19/05/2024 08:17

Sometimes she leaves it under the mattress ?

SnobblyBobbly · 19/05/2024 08:17

I used to say it rained in the night so she had soggy wings...

RabbitsRock · 19/05/2024 08:20

5yearsleft Bank Holiday is next weekend.

RabbitsRock · 19/05/2024 08:21

I once said to DD that the tooth fairy had run out of change.

PinkFizz1 · 19/05/2024 08:30

He’s NINE?!

Sorry OP but if no SEN I suspect he’s playing you for the cash, at that age 😂

PrimalLass · 19/05/2024 08:34

I wrote a tiny note saying the TF had been scared away by next door's dog.

The tooth fairy can’t leave chocolate!! 😂
but unfortunately you may have now committed yourself to writing tiny notes in glittery pen until he’s lost them all.
Our tooth fairy now has a name and a back story. I regret my choices.

I loved writing tooth fairy notes in old fashioned tiny handwriting. Our tooth fairy always appreciated the quality of the tooth due to excellent tooth brushing.

As 17 year old DS said Father Christmas was brilliant in our house. The tooth fairy needed to be sacked.
She wrote so many apologies for late delivery she should have got her P45 years ago.

Urm.. make sure you and the kids go to work/school tomorrow as bank holiday is next week 😂

Itsrainingten · 19/05/2024 08:42

Ha! Yes I think he probably is playing me for the cash but it works. It makes me feel.guilty for forgetting. Ok I did the "you forgot to open your window" and opened it this morning. Also mentioned that she was probably scared of getting eaten by the cat. She has magically been and gone while he was eating breakfast.
I think he (maybe??) does still believe in father Christmas though.
It's sort of like a parenting test though isn't it? Just to make sure I still bother he plays along 😬

Bedroom untidy so couldn’t get to you - I’ve used that before.

I would say cat on bed so couldn’t land. 😂

The tooth fairy left £2 and chocolate for my children . She said it’s fine as long as they brushed. 😉 🧚‍♀️

Crap! My bad. It’s bank holiday here tomorrow (Switzerland). Not the 27th. I got the two confused.

Mairzydotes · 19/05/2024 08:59

Does he have a bank or savings account? Transfer some over online with the ref tooth fairy and tell him it's digital now .

FloofyBear · 19/05/2024 10:13

I opened the window when DD was in the shower once because DH forgot, I asked her why she'd opened the window, she said I didn't mummy, oooooohhhhh could it be the tooth fairy ... she'd left a message to say she was a bit late because of so many lost teeth 🥰
