Pyjamas is a very easy one

TheHorneSection · 15/05/2024 22:07

What exactly does that mean? Is it only Titanic, or what you were wearing any time things went badly wrong?

If it’s the latter I’d go full 80s for the Wall Street crash.

Urgh. I’d go no contact with the inviter with immediate effect.

Pyjamas is a very easy one

Both in terms of sorting out and comfy to wear all evening!

MoonKiss · 15/05/2024 22:08

Can you take a door with you and be Jack & Rose?

Voltefarce · 15/05/2024 22:09

We usually go in evening dress plus life jackets for this theme.

Hopingtobe4 · 15/05/2024 22:09

I immediately thought of rhe people in bed in the titanic. Either that or dress fancy and bring instruments

MattDamon · 15/05/2024 22:10

A pirate.

NewMe2024 · 15/05/2024 22:10

I’m in the wtf camp. Is it just a Titanic theme or am I failing to get it?

Pieceofpurplesky · 15/05/2024 22:12

A flouncy Edwardian style night and your DO in stripey pjs.

Naked?

Bathrobe, face mask and rollers?

Jewell thief complete with swag bag?

Screamingabdabz · 15/05/2024 22:12

I love that theme! I would go either camp sailor or 1930s flapper with bit of seaweed around the neck and wet look hair.

Charlie2121 · 15/05/2024 22:12

Adult fancy dress is possibly my biggest pet hate. What possess anyone over the age of about 12 to think it’s a good idea?

I’d be telling them I’m washing my hair that evening.

Is this a common theme?

It sounds awful! I love fancy dress but no way to this.

MattDamon · 15/05/2024 22:12

Gimp suit.

Once you get over it and get in the spirit it’s actually quite fun…

VashtaNerada · 15/05/2024 22:13

I also don’t understand the theme. Unless I’m missing something, it seems in spectacularly poor taste!

BingoMarieHeeler · 15/05/2024 22:15

I don’t understand what that means 😄 what ship? If I received that invite am I just meant to assume titanic? It sounds like a metaphor so surely the titanic conclusion is too literal. Most random fancy dress theme ever surely. Not v jolly.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 15/05/2024 22:15

I went as an Edwardian nurse - denim midi dress , apron, made a hat, sewed on red cross. It was fun

BendingSpoons · 15/05/2024 22:18

I'd just use it as an excuse to wear a posh frock as if I was dressed up for an evening on a cruise

VanCleefArpels · 15/05/2024 22:18

I’ve been to one of these - went as gym instructor in the style of Eric Prydz video. Think also chefs whites, maid, cleaner or just plan black tie/ cocktail dress if you are more comfy in “normal” clothes than fancy dress

Scaevola · 15/05/2024 22:20

Wear a short strapless dress as a base layer. Then tuck a bath sheet around yourself

Or perhaps scuba kit?

BingoMarieHeeler · 15/05/2024 22:20

Did they have gym instructors on the titanic? I’m even more confused now 😄

MattDamon · 15/05/2024 22:21

The iceberg.
