Would you pay 8K for this?

All inclusive for a week in Greece.

I have fallen in love with the place, love the muted tones.

But is any all inclusive holiday for 7 nights worth £8,000? For 2 adults and 2 DC

I spend around £3k and find the places I go are really nice. Would it really be worth the extra £5k?

I don't have that kind of money, anyway Grin but genuinely interested to see if that type of place is worth it when you can go someone very nice for 2-3K

Couldn't agree with this more! No way would I spend all that money on 1 bed accommodation and have to spare sleeping space with my kids on holiday. Don't adults want privacy?? 🤷

I wouldn´t be happy about that either...

Would I pay 8k for this?
Well, it depends. Is this a "once in a lifetime-splurge" or is this an amount I´d comfortably spend on next winter as well?
I wouldn´t choose this kind of holiday for a rare splurge. But that´s just my personal opinion.

Not for children. They don't need luxury 😂 and will irritate people with no children 😂😂

Nope - food at all inclusive is normally shit. Book it all separately and you'll get much better quality for the same price.

For comparison I am going to Florida next week and have booked a 4* Sheraton villa + BA direct flights + Universal + Disney + Discovery Cove tickets + hire car = £9,000 for 4 of us. £8k is not good value for money for what you are getting.

Edited

That’s a totally weak comparison. No food, gas for the vehicle, drinks, etc included in your 8000 spend. I live an hour from WDW and eating out in this part of the world is more expensive than the UK (at least that was what we found on our most recent trip to the UK). You will be spending easily $150 a meal for food at an average restaurant for 4 people. Also the quality of the accommodation is completely different. Sheraton is a mediocre chain, IKOS is a whole other level. You’re comparing a Ford Fiesta to a Porsche.

I was thinking the same thing. If I was inclined to stay somewhere as expensive and sophisticated as this, I would definitely do so without children. At the end of the day kids won't appreciate all that fancy dancy stuff. They just want to (mostly) belly flop in the pool and eat chips. I'd rather savour the luxury as a couple or even a single person.

OneFrenchEgg · 15/05/2024 16:39

Well it all depends doesn't it on star ratings, reviews, facilities - we are spending five k on a week in Italy b&b and it's only four star. I would definitely want to do the nicest version of my preferred holiday than 'what I could get for £8k' which might be a rubbish version of something else.

DonnasShrugaleros · 15/05/2024 16:39

If you're happy in all inclusive then it's meant to be high quality. I went through Dassia a few years back and it (the town) was pretty grotty in my opinion but if you're all inclusive maybe you won't leave the hotel.

notanotherrokabag · 15/05/2024 16:39

Certainly not for Tui - they are known to be pretty crap.

Floofydawg · 15/05/2024 16:53

@ginasevern that's exactly what we do - kids have grown up and we now spend £££ on luxury holidays.

DrJonesIpresume · 15/05/2024 17:01

@treatsortreating How old are your dc?

SamuelDJackson · 15/05/2024 17:03

Beige. Meh

Garlicked · 15/05/2024 17:05

I've only stayed at lovely hotels like this for work - and if I could afford them, I'd live in them all year round!

I probably wouldn't splash the family budget on it if it's going to leave you pushed for other things. You'll still have a great holiday for half the price.

But if it's affordable - do it! Take my envy, it'll keep you cool in the sunshine 😉

Workawayxx · 15/05/2024 17:06

I wouldn't. For 2K per person, I'd want to go a bit further afield or if small DC mean that's impractical, I'd have £3K AI holidays for a few years then do Thailand, Cuba, Egypt or somewhere when they were a bit older.

All fairly irrelevant for me as we're on camping/caravanning holidays just now (in part due to elderly dog)😂 but it's lovely to think about abroad hols!

Pipsquiggle · 15/05/2024 17:08

notanotherrokabag · 15/05/2024 16:39

Certainly not for Tui - they are known to be pretty crap.

@notanotherrokabag you can book Ikos via loads of different companies eg. TUI, on the beach, expedia, BA, jet2, booking.com. You can book directly with them.

TBH it's probably the flights that are making this so expensive - is it for this summer? Flights will now be at the highest premium for August this year.

Parker231 · 15/05/2024 17:09

Toodleoodleooh · 15/05/2024 14:11

Ikos is off the scale fantastic and if you have the money it is worth every penny. It is really nothing like a 3k all inclusive and it is hard to go back once you have tried it. The food without exception is outstanding. There is choice of over 400 wines you can choose from, room service is included, the service is phenomenal. All drinks are premium, you can borrow a tesla for the day which is included to explore, pool service is constant

It is ultra ultra 5* yes it is all inclusive and it’s not travelling blah blah blah but honestly, it’s amazing if you want a luxury beach holiday

It’s the only AI we’ve done - amazing!

LunaandLily · 15/05/2024 17:11

I always base my decision on the colour of the bedspread! Muted tones indeed

Mt61 · 15/05/2024 17:12

No I would not pay that, better hotels in Antalya Turkey, 4/5 star much cheaper

GoogleWhacking · 15/05/2024 17:12

I wouldn't. Even if I had the cash.

Bearpawk · 15/05/2024 17:14

I know what you mean op, we used to stay regularly at villa di mare which is very close to the Rhodes one you posted, largely for the chic scandi minimist interiors. But the price has almost doubled in the last 5 years so we can't justify it anymore.
I'm looking for a different holiday but the interiors all look so shit I genuinely think it would ruin it for me 😂
If I had 8k to spend Willy nilly I'd go for it. But the top 2 reviews on trip advisor aren't great.

geoger · 15/05/2024 17:15

Ikos resorts are amazing. Try the Ikos Olivia - much better location if you really want to do an Ikos resort. £8k for a week in Corfu is way too expensive tho.
Tbh you could go 3-4 weeks in Greece if you just did bed and breakfast for that kind of money.
I think with AI resorts it doesn’t really matter where you are. Most people don’t seem to leave the hotel and eat and drink there for their entire holiday. So many look at other resorts in Spain and Turkey which might be cheaper. But if you want to explore the Greek islands there are far better resorts to visit

Moonlaserbearwolf · 15/05/2024 17:16

That does look wonderful. But would it be £5k more wonderful than the £3k option? Debatable. Would be interesting to hear from anyone who has tried both!

ChristmasLightsLover · 15/05/2024 17:22

Mark Warner holidays are 8K for two adults and two teens in August, for a week. That's more than we pay... 6K is our limit and even then it feels really high.

I can't imagine paying 8K to Tui. Interesting eh?

Am now off to look at the fancy places mentioned in the thread...

Ap42 · 15/05/2024 17:28

If it was somewhere special then maybe. I would love to go to the Maldives so would consider increasing the budget for that. But its not for corfu. I'd rather have an extra holiday

pictoosh · 15/05/2024 17:35

I wouldn't pay an extra 5k for the muted tones, no.

For that sort of money I'd want something else, not concrete boxes facing the pool and each other. But then, to each their own applies here. You've fallen in love so if you can afford it, book it.

TubeScreamer · 15/05/2024 17:41

No, unless money was no object.

I always think about the things I could do instead with longer lasting benefits - a bathroom refit, various diy projects etc.
