What's for dinner?

Today I am home 2 hours earlier than anticipated so have decided to treat us all with a 'proper' meal (rather than a rushed one).

Salata tricolore
Steak with mushroom sauce, wedges and green beans
grilled fresh apricots with honey and vanilla ice cream
cheese board with grapes and walnuts

Undoubtedly the Dcs will moan and ask why they aren't having pesto pasta with peas and DH will say; 'Do we have to sit at the table, I'm knackered and want to watch The Simpsons' but until either of those things happen I am going to pretend that we are a sophisticated European family like what exists in my fantasies. Grin

What is everyone else having?

I've cooked a chickpea and sweet potato curry for my DP and our new volunteers. Sadly I hate curry so will probably have a bowl of muesli later.

Sounds lovely! We're on holiday at the moment(self catering) and I don't want to cook so we have just had Beef in Ale with mashed potatoes from Asda. Not as nice as 'real' food but OK. Tomorrow, however, we are going to an Indian restaurant for lunch, which I am really looking forward to! So our evening meal will probably be toast. (Literally!)

Some pretty nice Monday evening dinners here..OP your meal sounds wonderful.

So for something a bit rtandom on a Monday night...I have had Conga eel fish pie -made by my DH who caught it down in Devon yesterday.
Must admit I've been dreading tonight's dinner having seen the eel all curled up in ice in the fridge...but actually it was nice. Kind of like monkfish really, not slimy at all.

Kids had sausages rice and broccoli some 4 hours earlier!!

I had roast veg (potato cubes, carrots, broccoli and onion) with a piece of salmon. For pudding had grapes and strawberries with whipped cream.

Tonight we had Greek baked prawns with feta and tomatoes. It was lovely.

Oooh delicious.

I have never tried conga eel @AuraBora !

Tonight we have Creamy prawn linguine with salad.

Last night we again ate at the table and everyone seemed to enjoy it. Less muttering than the day before anyway! And we had strawberries, oatcakes and cheddar cheese afterwards.

Tonight will be spinach and ricotta tortellini with bacon bits, asparagus and a butter, lemon and black pepper sauce.

Nellieinthebarn · 15/05/2024 14:11

chicken pie, from the freezer but homemade on a day I had more energy, with spuds and veg, strawberries with yogurt for pudding.

MiddleAgedDread · 15/05/2024 14:14

Steak, chips and salad

sunlovingcriminal · 15/05/2024 15:04

@everlastingpanini I think you're raising the standards by having cheese after a meal! That smack of classiness to me!

I am once again in a 'pretending to be French' phase.

Mind you... @Nellieinthebarn 's strawberries and yoghurt appeals for tonight.
