What's for dinner?

Today I am home 2 hours earlier than anticipated so have decided to treat us all with a 'proper' meal (rather than a rushed one).

Salata tricolore
Steak with mushroom sauce, wedges and green beans
grilled fresh apricots with honey and vanilla ice cream
cheese board with grapes and walnuts

Undoubtedly the Dcs will moan and ask why they aren't having pesto pasta with peas and DH will say; 'Do we have to sit at the table, I'm knackered and want to watch The Simpsons' but until either of those things happen I am going to pretend that we are a sophisticated European family like what exists in my fantasies. Grin

What is everyone else having?

Mac and cheese quiche (a Waitrose impulse buy) with salad and coleslaw. Magnum for pudding.

JoJothegerbil · 13/05/2024 18:49

Simply Cook Goan Fish Curry. First time we've had that recipe and it was yum.

Tinytigertail · 13/05/2024 18:50

Miso salmon with puy lentils and a green salad for us this evening. Quick and easy!

Big Mac Salad. Gorgeous 😋

TheChosenTwo · 13/05/2024 19:08

We’re having roast chicken, sautéed potatoes, roasted veg, halloumi and a green salad. Dh is also making some bread to go with it.

Pandaandpurple · 13/05/2024 19:11

We’re having a fridge leftovers omelette (ham, mushroom, bit of chorizo, cheese) with a salad. Will also be virtuous and resist the wine that is in the fridge. 😀

I am impressed with such lovely fridge raids. I am not particularly creative so tend to resort to cheese on toast for a fridge raid!

we could put together a MN cookbook - The Fridgeraiders -
there are delicious sounding dinners here, ours was tasty and quick, now OH is in the kitchen with
a scalpel taking scraps of meat from yesterday’s duck carcass, so that tomorrow
we will have duck and salad wraps,
has anyone bashed and boiled up a duck carcass for stock? was it successful?
or was it too greasy?
My OH likes to make risotto, so we always need stock

Mumofyellows · 13/05/2024 19:12

King prawn baby corn and sugar snap pea keralan curry with rice and samosas 😁 quick and easy after work!

RabbitsRock · 13/05/2024 19:14

So hungry now! I bought a hoisin steak stir fry mix from the butcher’s. Supposed to have fresh egg noodles with it but accidentally bought protein ones.

LindorDoubleChoc · 13/05/2024 19:14

Jacket potatoes with tuna mayo, green salad, and some roasted veg/cous cous salad left over from last night.

Frankly, my dear, we do not believe you - (about the wine) what would
Elizabeth David make of that sacrilege

omelettes are a great way of using up bits of this that and ‘how long
has that been in the fridge’

RubiesAndRaindrops · 13/05/2024 19:18

Cauliflower cheese served with chicken wrapped in bacon, maybe some peas - yours sounds better!

shellyleppard · 13/05/2024 19:19

Katsu chicken steaks from Morrisons, rice, homemade katsu curry sauce and some spring rolls 😂

Flatleak · 13/05/2024 19:22

Buffalo chicken wings and Mediterranean veg or a crumpet. Currently trying to decide my effort level

JLT24 · 13/05/2024 19:29

Chicken and veg nachos with melted cheese, jalapeños, salsa and guacamole 😋

AffIt · 13/05/2024 19:37

😂😂 I promise I’ve left the wine alone…for now!

I prepped a shepherds pie on my lunch break working from home, so that was nice to just have to put it in oven at tea time with frozen peas and jug of Bisto. Tinned peaches and tinned mandarins with whipped cream after.

Tteokbokki with bok choi and kimchi.

Did you make it ? What sauce recipe did you use if so ?

sprigatito · 13/05/2024 19:52

Creamy chicken and bacon pasta bake with crispy cheesy topping. I made it with the leftover filling from a batch of chicken and bacon pies I was making, with wholemeal pasta. Loads of black pepper. It was surprisingly delicious.

Pieceofpurplesky · 13/05/2024 20:00

Roast chicken, jersey royals and Cheshire asparagus
