Now I know that everyone has individual tastes, but what on earth is going on in this house?!! The landing!!

@ToBeOrNotToBee beat me to it, it looks very much like an episode of changing rooms!

BouleDeSuif · 12/05/2024 08:22

I don't like the stags or the grey bits but I like the rest. I love the pink wardrobes!

ThePerfectDog · 12/05/2024 08:23

I really like the garden and you get a lot of house for the money. It’s not my cup of tea decor wise but I prefer it to grey and walls, carpets and shiny surfaces.

I also think it’s great how the front seems really plain but as soon as you walk in you’re hit it the face with colour and pattern.

Startingagainandagain · 12/05/2024 08:32

These type of threads are getting boring.

People are allowed to decorate their home as they wish and the new owner will be welcome to do the same.

Not everyone in this world needs to be a fan of beige and white.

I actual prefer someone to decorate something using their personality and individuality, rather than the type of home owners who think 'we will sell at some point so we are just going to live in a bland, grey, beige and white home for years so we don't upset anyone'.

I think that is the real shame...

I see a much loved house that someone enjoyed decorating, looks lived in and has a nice garden. Basically a family home and not a show house with no soul.

The garden is nice. I agree. I can't get my head around the inside of the house though. It's like they've tried to make it quirky by having clashing wallpapers on all of the walls but missed the mark massively. Absolutely each to their own , to be fair I hate the whole neutrals and greys trends with a passion, love a colourful house... I have bright colours on my walls, but when I saw this I was so gobsmacked I felt others needed to witness it too!

“I can't get my head around the inside of the house though.”

You don’t need to, it’s not your house, you don’t live there and you’ve no intention of buying it. It’s definitely not to my taste either but the owner who has obviously spent time decorating it has done it to their taste which we all do in our own homes. Any serious buyer will look past the decorating

Womblealongwithme · 12/05/2024 09:01

I don't hate it. My house is quite boring, lots of neutral colours (blues and greens etc) and not very exciting. I admire their commitment to colour! Love the garden and it's a great house.

Bjorkdidit · 12/05/2024 09:01

That's rather a larger cooker for such a small kitchen.

It looks so ordinary from the front.

Womblealongwithme · 12/05/2024 09:02

And in bloody sick of seeing grey everywhere, at least this house has personality.

Wednesdaysotherchild · 12/05/2024 09:04

At least it’s not soul-sucking spartan grey!

FaeryRing · 12/05/2024 09:07

I’ve seen worse, it’s not the bright colours or anything it’s the total mish mash of uncomplimentary styles - ranch meets early 2000s meets Paloma Faith

MenopauseSucks · 12/05/2024 09:11

It's like a shock to the system!

I wonder what the estate agent thought when they first viewed the place?? And how to best photograph it?

Loubelle70 · 12/05/2024 09:15

I like bohemian but i think its disjointed decor. Pay me i will come and sort it out 😁...but tbh it only needs paint and calming down but with some of those quirks left. I quite like some of it.

quietpink · 12/05/2024 09:15

Someone with personality, that's who decorated it.
Trying to ridicule someone's taste is not cool.
What do you want, OP? Us all to be the same?

CelesteCunningham · 12/05/2024 09:19

Good for them, nice to see something different.

Poor form to post someone's actual home just to laugh at their taste OP.

ScarlettSunset · 12/05/2024 09:23

I quite liked it.
Not all of it, but I actually really liked the striped wallpaper. If I was thinking of getting a house in that area of that size, I wouldn't let the current decor put me off, I'd just redecorate the bits I didn't like and keep what I did.
And id enjoy the lovely garden

Echobelly · 12/05/2024 09:25

I frankly admire doing thing differently, whether I like it or not!

crumblingschools · 12/05/2024 00:24

The pink wardrobes!

I bloody love them!

Let’s see some photos of your house OP. I mean, since you’re ok with posting other people’s decor choices on a forum and encouraging other people to make snide comments about them, I’m sure you’ll be fine with people doing the same to your choices?

TheFairyCaravan · 12/05/2024 09:27

At least it’s not grey.

When we bought our house it had an orange, the same colour as the aprons the staff wear in B&Q, feature wall in the front room. It lasted about a week after we moved in. As for the colour they painted the bathrooms…well! But it’s so easy to change. And my house still isn’t grey btw.

Blackcats7 · 12/05/2024 09:28

It made me feel ill. I can only think most buyers couldn’t live with that decor for five minutes because it is clearly very individual taste.

LittleMissSleepyUK · 12/05/2024 09:30

Each room is worse than the previous one!

It made you feel ill? That's quite a reaction, I do hope you'll be ok. 😂

BeyondMyWits · 12/05/2024 09:33

Someone with some individuality. Not boring grey, beige, greige...

FloofyBear · 12/05/2024 09:45

I can't believe the outside is so dull! They clearly like colour ... lots and lots of colour ..

Kelly51 · 12/05/2024 09:47

The must be neutral to sell, why?
The buyers will decorate to their taste, colour is great, better than the boring bland that seems the norm.
I do like the striped wall and the garden is fantastic, has gave me inspiration for my soon to be painted summerhouse.

LifeofBrienne · 12/05/2024 09:49

The weird thing for me is the contrast between the extravagant decor inside and the front. Not only no individuality but all paved over to be lifeless and sterile. I can only assume that was done by previous owners, given the current owners seem to like gardening!
