They have such stingy little bites don't they!

I once had to rescue a little robin who had fallen down the chimney and got stuck. It attacked me with its tiny little beak and was so cute. (It was also fine and unharmed... as I was as well).

Oh no. Not a Robin too.

Little Spotty Fuckers

😂

Personally I would rather be bitten by a ladybird than a spider. My brother was just as surprised as you when one bit him. They don't get near enough to bite me despite them running at me with their hairy eight legs.

Sonolanona · 02/05/2024 17:01

I was bitten by a Blandford fly yesterday...and now my right forearm looks like Popeye's!!! Tiny little bastards they are, and mean...

Yeah. Sympathies, but tbh you got what we'd expect from one of them.

Oh did you smell it?

I had no idea ladybirds smell so strongly until recently. Their piss literally smells of freshly mowed grass.

Haggisfish3 · 02/05/2024 17:10

I ha w heard tell of smell and biting lady is but can’t smell them and have never been bitten myself!

Thank you but my trauma is real

Sympathy, OP.

I got headbutted by a dragonfly once. I was running at the time, so the dragonfly would probably deny responsibility, but who has more agility at speed? Clue: not me.

What happens if you tried to sniff it and it ended up inside your nose like a clumpy piece of coke? 😱

I bet the little bugger would bite lots then.

Ladybirds are the Dolphins of the Beetle world. Look cute, murderous little fuckers when nobody's paying attention to how they actually behave.

I've held that against Ladybirds since the Summer of 1976 when my mother burst out laughing and started telling anybody she met how funny it was that I imagined a Ladybird bit me when 'everybody knows Ladybirds can't bite'. Got me on my squidgy 3 year old arm, too - it's never stopped me from enjoying letting them run up to the tip of my index finger to fly away, but I've never trusted them since.

I was bitten in 76 too! I think sometimes there is a glut of them and they run out of aphids to eat? Anyway my bite got infected , hand swelled up twice its normal size. Very strange !

May09Bump · 02/05/2024 18:09

I got bitten by a yellow one and had a major reaction - head to toe itching,
not want you want on your first outing with your newborn. Not sensitive to anything but this was horrid.

DontPlayInMySandbox · 02/05/2024 18:11

I've just got a tiny red mark, a mild itch and hurty feelings.

Oh my god don't you feel bad? You know they only live for 24hrs right?

In 1996 I think I was in Weston Super Mare on holiday and there was the tail end of a hurricane from America, it brought over millions of ladybirds, there was a 2m black slick of dead ones at high tide mark on the beach.

the little toe rags went for anything white and we had to walk around covering our mouths, it was disgusting, I never saw them in the same light again when we realised they bit too. Every night we had to scour the accommodation and get rid of those that had managed to get in. it was awful.

I was once bitten by a wasp. It landed on my finger and started to nibble it.

Dymaxion · 02/05/2024 19:17

Got bitten by a mole as a child, I guess small fingers and juicy worms look similar if your eyesight isn't brilliant !

olderbutwiser · 02/05/2024 19:21

For those of us old enough to remember the summer of 1976 yes the little f&^%$rs do bite - there were clouds of them flying around because it was so dry and everything was dying so they were proper hangry. One nibble is a joke but being ambushed by a cloud of nippy ladybirds is less fun than it sounds, I can tell you.

Robins are aggressive territorial little bastards. Don't be fooled by the cuteness.

DontPlayInMySandbox · 02/05/2024 16:46

Well, I am old and have never heard of a ladybird biting.
Will go for a Google!

Could it be that you have the appearance of an aphid?

If so, please post a photo.
