Neighbours at it in full view

As the title suggests, there I am around 10pm last night doing the washing up and they are at it right up at the kitchen window (no curtains) in full view of me and at least 5 other flats (plus around 10 more with full/partial view of them). Girl notices me looking in disbelief and ducks down randomly in a not very effective way, still at it, both realise they are in full view and continue. I make a ‘what the heck?’ Hand gesture and they somehow back out of the kitchen and continue in the living room up at the window, again giving a good view as the curtain does not reach the windowsill at all so a good view is still on offer to all plus more flats/passersby now. Wondering what i might do now when i see one of them in their kitchen again…

@ginasevern if you can't see the difference with two consenting adults having sex in their own home.. to A man standing outside your window wanking then you you have a very strange outlook on sex

You've changed the goal posts here, haven't you. Yes, the "two consenting adults" were in their own home but they were clearly visible by OP and other neighbours because they hadn't drawn the curtains. What's the difference between that and a man wanking in the privacy of his own home who also hasn't drawn the curtains?

You're the one who's placed the man right outside of the OP's window for reasons of your own. Both scenarios are the same. The couple and the man are both engaging in a sex act in the privacy of their own home.

The comparison being made was to a man wanking in his own home but being seen through a window.

The difference might be that the man is doing it intentionally to be seen, while the couple have got carried away and didn’t mean to be seen. But it might not be- and you’d have quite a difficult job proving intent (or lack of) in either scenario.

Funny that you used the word consenting for a couple having a shag in their home, but not for a man having a solo wank at home (I assume he is also consenting).

The person who is not consenting is the poor sod who happens to look at the window and see the action taking place.

You don't seem to have realised that if you can see straight into their window, they can see straight into yours and when you stagger into the kitchen bleary eyed with your tshirt caught in the back of your knickers and your hair on end in the morning, they're may be copping for an eyeful that they don't want either.

This is part of living crammed into flats, they're hardly doing it on your front lawn. Window film is your friend, this is a two way street. Either that or drag a dining chair in and grab the binoculars. The management company isn't going to issue a diktat on when and where they can shag in their own home, or come round and check they've closed their curtains adequately first.

This is very much a case of look away if you don't like it, but I would love to see a photo of the sign you put in the window.

Waitingfordoggo · 29/04/2024 14:42

Maybe it’s just me but where I’ve got windows that are overlooked by neighbours, I make a concerted effort not to appear next to those windows with my T shirt tucked into my knickers (or in any state of undress generally). Quite happy for the neighbours to see me with my hair on end and bleary eyed as that doesn’t constitute indecent exposure.

It really isn't a case of 'look away if you don't like it'. They knew she could see, they moved away from one window when they saw her and promptly went at it against another window still in full view of her. That is indecent exposure - to knowingly perform a sex act where you can be seen - and that is against the law in this country.

(And also, where have you got the idea that the OP doesn't realise that they can also see in to her kitchen? Maybe she, like most people who have houses that are overlooked, is very careful about not staggering around half dressed in front of windows that the neighbours can see in to? Or maybe she has curtains/a blind which she keeps down until she's decent? )

If you can see something out of your window and you want to not see it, and you've got a blind, you pull it down.

For me, there really isn't anything further to it. What do you think OP should be doing about it, out of interest?

Maybe they misconstrued OP's hand gesture by which she meant 'what the heck?" as something encouraging.

That’s a bit weird. Why would you do that?

Cos I'm a kinky fekker? Grin

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 29/04/2024 19:49

Right, well…
I never walk around with my tshirt tucked into my pants because a) I just dont and b) Im well aware of how close we all are…. I often have other curtains closed because of this too during the day.

I mostly look at the dishes when I wash up but occasionally I look up for whatever reason.

I usually do cover my windows because I dont want people looking in at me (almost all flats here dont cover their kitchen windows) but I had taken them down to clean them that morning as it happens.

As a side note, I’ve never noticed the girl before but he often likes to parade around topless for some reason.

I was impressed with myself for calmly shaking my head at them and giving them the hand gesture/disapproving look even while they carried on :)

And finally, my large note (as in big writing) told them I’d be reporting them if they did it again and I will because I do think the management would act swiftly and also because I hate to think a child could see if it happened again.

Shock horror. Man doesn't wear t-shirt in his own home.

Is he 'parading' or just going about his business in his own home

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 29/04/2024 20:51

its just a turn of phrase Kinneddar. No need to try and make something out of nothing.

If you were my neighbour and I saw you shagging through the window and you then said that to me, I’d think you had real issues with boundaries. No one else is interested in your sex life.

I really don't care what you think, tbh. Don't take what I've written so literally, seriously, or to heart.

Waitingfordoggo · 29/04/2024 21:02

I didn’t take it to heart but ok, thank you for the advice!

I remember years ago me and the OH were walking home at night and saw some guy dogbolting a lady upstairs in a house, curtains open, light on. We both just laughed.

Says the one making a mountain out of a molehill

I'd say actually there is a difference between saying he walks around toeless and saying he parades. But I suppose accusing him of parading suits your narrative more

Ha! I used to live in a mansion flat with kitchen window directly onto the opposite flat’s. I once had the fright of seeing a Very Famous man taking a lady friend over next door’s kitchen table (next door was a professional colleague of the famous gentleman).

You HAVE to name him!

carbon60 · 29/04/2024 22:53

Man walk topless and has sex in his own home. Hold the front page.

This is such a non issue. Just close off your window or get over it
