Neighbours at it in full view

As the title suggests, there I am around 10pm last night doing the washing up and they are at it right up at the kitchen window (no curtains) in full view of me and at least 5 other flats (plus around 10 more with full/partial view of them). Girl notices me looking in disbelief and ducks down randomly in a not very effective way, still at it, both realise they are in full view and continue. I make a ‘what the heck?’ Hand gesture and they somehow back out of the kitchen and continue in the living room up at the window, again giving a good view as the curtain does not reach the windowsill at all so a good view is still on offer to all plus more flats/passersby now. Wondering what i might do now when i see one of them in their kitchen again…

OP posts:

If I was one of them, next time I saw you, I'd ask if there were any particular positions you'd like to see us try.

That’s a bit weird. Why would you do that?

The OP was washing up. A task that doesn't involve staring out of a window which has no view. When I'm washing up I tend to be looking at what I'm cleaning.

Well that's your experience. OP obviously washes up differently to you.
It's very common to place the window near the sink in the kitchen.

dottydodah · 29/04/2024 09:52

At 10pm at night surely your own curtains/blind would be closed? Maybe they are newleyweds or something .I dont see a problem ,we pull our curtains as soon as it gets dark .

dottydodah · 29/04/2024 09:53

Maybe get a longer blind?

shellyleppard · 29/04/2024 09:55

Op if you don't want to see the neighbours shagging....then yes!!!

LlynTegid · 29/04/2024 10:07

Applause or fake noises is the appropriate response.

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 28/04/2024 17:36

For those suggesting I look away or stop watching, I was hardly craning my neck. It was directly opposite me. Am I supposed to keep all curtains closed all the time so they can do as they please? I dont think so!

You are allowed to look out of your window as much as you like. Else they'd have bricks there and it'd be called a wall.

The guy who used to cook naked (Well he might have had trousers on) moved out of the flats near us.

A man wanking has a threatening angle to it and he could potentially be a threat to children and women
Completely different senario to a couple being carefree, it may not be what you were expecting to see but not threatening

The threat is that he is getting off on the disgust/ shock of women and children. He's loving that element . A man who isn't accidentally spotted isn't a threat.
This couple are shagging for the attention ( we know because they didn't stop once seen)

It's anti social at best.

It doesn't matter whether its threatening or not. Its classed as indecent exposure and it is illegal - being in your own home is not a defense for that if you can be seen by others. And since they moved to another, equally visible location, they clearly were doing it on purpose to be seen rather than being 'carefree',

There are A LOT of assumptions there.
So, it's OK for a couple to have sex in full view of people (even when they know they can be seen), but not OK for a man to wank (e.g. my teenage son innocently not realising he's not drawn his blind)? Both are entirely healthy uses of our bodies.
Knowing people can see you is NOT OK.

Whatifthehokeycokey · 29/04/2024 10:49

Surely the issue here is that it's the neighbours, not OP, who should be pulling their blinds down?! As someone who lives in a terrace with people regularly walking past our window, and can see into the windows opposite... you remember to draw the curtains. It's not hard.

Change your wifi name to 'DoNotWantToSeeYouShaggingAtNumber46'

This is the best suggestion.

An old neighbour of ours has a habit of standing in his garden where he could be seen by both houses either side, naked except for his dressing gown wide open to show his bits off. It was weird as I noticed it one day when In an upstairs room putting laundry away on a dresser against the window and happened to look up from a drawer and saw him. Looking up at me Confused

Creepy fucker. I reported him and he had a visit from some chaps in uniform a few days later. Didn't do it again.

OP if it was accidental then hey ho, these things happen. Maybe pop a note through the door in a jovial sort of "sure you aren't aware but ..." kind of way

But if it continues it's exhibitionist behaviour and not acceptable. And agree it would be very easy for kids see

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 29/04/2024 10:59

Masturbation is literally self pleasure so absolutely no difference

@Marchintospring .. as I said " tell them they need blinds " this is not about a man wanking at a window .. that is a very different scenario

Why is this a different scenario, other than the fact that it involves two people performing a sex act instead of one. I don't see your logic. Would you care to elaborate?

Aaron95 · 29/04/2024 12:22

Knock on the window. Ask if anyone can join in.

newfriend05 · 29/04/2024 12:57

@ginasevern if you can't see the difference with two consenting adults having sex in their own home.. to A man standing outside your window wanking then you you have a very strange outlook on sex

Vermin · 29/04/2024 13:00

Ha! I used to live in a mansion flat with kitchen window directly onto the opposite flat’s. I once had the fright of seeing a Very Famous man taking a lady friend over next door’s kitchen table (next door was a professional colleague of the famous gentleman).

CruCru · 29/04/2024 13:19

This thread is a bit weird. The thing is, the OP has not gone out of her way to seek the view of this other couple - they imposed it on her without her consent.

Sure, she can shut her curtains but, unless she knew this was going to happen, she’ll still get the view before she does so. It’s up to the couple to shut their curtains.

Actually, two consenting adults having sex in front of a window knowing full well that their neighbours can see them is frankly just as creepy and threatening. Especially when they knew they'd been spotted and just moved to a different window on the same side of the house and carried on, so clearly wasn't an accident.
(And PP was talking about a man wanking in his own house, but at a window where he could be seen, not standing outside your window)

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 29/04/2024 13:33

Tut tut @CruCru are you kink shaming the couple? Confused

It's only something to mumble about if it involves a second person apparently...
