How many of you have tried coke?

I’ve never ever been into drugs. I won’t touch them. Mainly bc I have anxiety and ocd. But I’ve been out with my mates who love to do coke when we’re out, and I always say no, but last time I was genuinely tempted to just try a little bit.

If you’ve tried it what’s your experience. Worth it or nah?

Teenager or early 20 something experimenting with coke is understandable.

Anyone older than this is just a sad loser.

Oblomov24 · 25/04/2024 07:35

It's only addictive if you have an addictive personality to start with, so maybe address that as a core issue first.

Many people try a few things at uni, such as weed, speed, Coke. Some go to rave and try e's, that was never my thing. I never had a bad come down, never found it that addictive. This generation seems more clean living and less interested.

I’m very sleep deprived and read that as ‘cake’.

100% addictive, ruins your body. Totally recommend.

Jaboody · 25/04/2024 07:41

Don't do it. I had an 8 day binge on weed and coke. Sat on my arse gaming. Ended up with dvt in my leg. Clean for almost 2 years now.

Don’t do it. It starts out fun because it makes you feel over confident, sobers you up if you’ve drank too much and keeps you awake. Then suddenly you can’t drink without wanting a bag. Then you start fancying it on weekdays. Then you end up alone, curtains shut, middle of the day, staring into the mirror snorting lines with anything you can find to make a straw out of and considering ending your life because you can’t stop. Sleeping in all day and awake all night because of the comedown. Find yourself in awful settings and situations you wouldn’t ever have put yourself in before. Lose your job. Lose your friends and family. Lose your sanity. Some people don’t get addicted, but there is such a strong link between addictive personalities and ADHD. I’m speaking from personal experience. Don’t do it. I’m clean now and have been for a number of years and wouldn’t dream of touching that nasty shit ever again, but even now the addict in me tries to convince me I could do it again, just once. It’s never just once.

Beezknees · 25/04/2024 07:46

Never done it. It's never appealed to me. I drink and have smoked weed but never anything else. The cost must be horrendous, I know somebody who got into £20k of debt to support his habit, he had to move back in with his parents when he finally kicked it as he had spunked all his money and owed so much.

Anyone can find themselves in addiction. Addiction doesn't discriminate. Any mind altering substance has the potential to get you hooked

Lilllypad11 · 24/04/2024 22:54

Prob what I needed to hear bc I’ve been desperate to try it. I’ve got adhd so ill impulsively do stupid shit

Why have you been desperate to try it? What is the appeal?

RagzRebooted · 25/04/2024 07:48

If you're going to try drugs, there are more fun ones.
I was in quite a drug happy group in my teens but always felt coke was overpriced and a bit shit, so never did much.
Ecstasy is much nicer! I miss that.

Comedycook · 25/04/2024 07:48

No. Never done any drugs ever.

My friendship group was never into but besides the thought of it terrified me.

decionsdecisions62 · 25/04/2024 07:54

I had it once. Strutted up the street to see my friend. Talked about myself for 4 hours then never tried it again!

SkiingIsHeaven · 25/04/2024 07:54

You never know if the batch you are trying has been poohed out of someone or stored up someone's arse.

EveningSpread · 25/04/2024 07:55

I like it, it’s fun! Me and my friends used to do loads of drugs in our 20s when we went out, had house parties or at festivals. Loads of dancing and chats and general merriment. No slippery slopes for us, just young fun.

We don’t do it anymore now we have jobs we care about and kids etc. Drugs make you stay up late and the sleep deprivation would kill us! But it was fun at the time!

Drugs are generally bad news for aggressive people - same as alcohol.

Some people do have addictive personalities or get hooked, but I think that’s often because they’re unhappy. Like alcohol (that socially sanctioned drug) lots of things are fine in moderation.

WoodBurningStov · 25/04/2024 07:57

I did it 3 times and I can well understand why people get addicted to it. It made me feel amazing but the come down is brutal and it's v addictive. I didn't do it again as I could see myself getting addicted v easily

QueSyrahSyrah · 25/04/2024 07:58

Did the odd line in my youth until one night I got the absolute rage with it and ruined everyone's night being a complete twat. Never touched it again.

We're all getting on a bit now so not so many friends and acquaintances still 'indulge' but you can tell the ones that do from the aforementioned cocky bullshit they spout. I think it's a bit sad to still be reliant on coke for a 'good' night at our age (late 30s, early 40s) to be honest.

dontforgetme · 25/04/2024 07:58

Used to do a lot of it on nights out. However the older I got the more the comedown felt like depression. Proper self-loathing depression. It's not worth the tiny high.

Welshphoenix · 25/04/2024 07:59

Lilllypad11 · 24/04/2024 22:59

Mannn is it that bad, tbf when my mates do it. It’s non stop talking shit. I’m usually drunk at that point so I have no clue what’s happening but still.

Yes it is that bad, my son thought like you, and has now lost his family, his job, his home and is up to his neck in debt as he tries to clear the debt to the dealers.
Why would you take the risk?

Damnyourheadshoulderskneesandtoes · 25/04/2024 07:59

No, I experimented a bit with other stuff when I was younger but I much prefer to have clarity of thought. I rarely even drink now.

katebushh · 25/04/2024 08:00

I'd be more concerned with what the 98% is it's cut with. You have literally no idea want you're stuffing up your nose. As pp have said, the first line might be great but after that you're chasing the impossible.

elm26 · 25/04/2024 08:00

Nope. Never. Vile stuff.

When I was younger, my Mum and Aunt went to a party and did it. My Aunt collapsed and died (she was in her early 30's with 3 children). She had an underlying heart condition.

Betterifido · 25/04/2024 08:01

I went through a phase in early to mid twenties. It was great fun at the time, but it makes you feel so rough the next day. Also it’s very addictive and I found myself always thinking when I would be able to get my hands on some more for the next night out etc. and being disappointed when there was wasn’t any, also putting myself in some dodgy situations involving driving to meet a dealer to get some. Also I was a twat and did some stupid things on nights out! Thank goodness we didn’t have a ready supply or a dealer on tap as I think we would have got addicted! Haven’t touched it for about 10 years now, stopped when I had kids, I don’t really know if i regret doing it, but I know I definitely don’t miss it and wouldn’t do it again…although if I was on a night out and was drunk and got offered some I don’t know 100% if I’d say no. I me and DH had more of an addictive personality, or if kids hasn’t come along to make us sensible lol it might have been a different story 😢

ViciousCurrentBun · 25/04/2024 08:03

I have never tried it but saw it openly taken along with many other drugs at parties in London in the 1990’s. This was my friends circle, it was full of city boys earning crazy amounts of money. Some beautiful houses, lots of champagne, lots of bragging, it was a glimpse in to a world that was never going to be mine I’m more of an outdoor muddy boots climbing over stiles but it was a time that’s for sure. I’m happier with a Tunnocks tea cake sat on top of a hill.

cakewitch · 25/04/2024 08:06

It's vile. Utterly vile. Gorgeous at the time, but the after effects are horrendous and absolutely not worth it.

JaninaDuszejko · 25/04/2024 08:06

Why would you want to take any drug that is managed by criminals? I work in pharmaceuticals, it costs millions to make a safe drug. We do tests to show our drugs are actually what we say they are and we do experiments to work out the shelflife.

We also do a whole raft of safety tests. We test for bactetia, endotoxin, viruses, DNA, protein contaminants, and residuals that we use in the process (so if we use chemical X at the beginning of the manufacturing process we have to show that it is removed by the end).

We have documentation from all the manufacturers of the raw materials and consumables that they are safe and don't contain TSEs, or leachables (you know how people get their knickers in a twist about hormone like chemicals in plastic baby cups, every piece of plastic we use is tested to show it doesn't do that). We then test all the chemicals ourselves as well to show they are safe before we use them.

When we make a drug it's in clean rooms that have regular environmental monitoring. Everyone wears plastic disposable clothes that don't produce fibres. Every single thing that is done is recorded and countersigned. Any changes to how we say we'll make the drug, however small, will be investigated (so for example if we used different plastic tubing we'd need to document why). At the end of making the drug our quality people review all the documents (this takes weeks because there are 10000s of pages). To make sure we are doing this properly we are regularly audited by teams of experts from national and international organisations before we can sell the drug.

Do you really think the Columbian drug cartels do all that? Or do you think that the coke you buy on the street has no guarantee to be what you think it is or to be free of contaminants that can kill you? It's absolutely stupid to take illegal drugs.
