How many of you have tried coke?

Lilllypad11 · 24/04/2024 22:47

I’ve never ever been into drugs. I won’t touch them. Mainly bc I have anxiety and ocd. But I’ve been out with my mates who love to do coke when we’re out, and I always say no, but last time I was genuinely tempted to just try a little bit.

If you’ve tried it what’s your experience. Worth it or nah?

Having worked in an industry where I've seen the effects of drug use, I'd say keep away from it. So many people get hooked and it can be a slippery slope as PP have pointed out.

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 24/04/2024 23:10

No, and never will. I like a glass of wine, a vape now and then and I had the odd spliff in my early 20s but cocaine is a step too far for me. I've seen what it does people and I don't like what I see.

MadelineWuntch · 24/04/2024 23:11

I tried it twice, back in the day.

I really quite liked it. So much so, I figured there probably shouldn't be a third time.

Foxlover46 · 24/04/2024 23:11

After dating someone who was a recovering addict and still
Doing it I wouldn't want to try it

WaitingForMojo · 24/04/2024 23:12

I knew someone who did coke. She’s dead now. On the off chance that you’re for real… just don’t.

mlc0 · 24/04/2024 23:13

Never touched any drugs, my brother died of a drug overdose when I was 14

Peacelily001 · 24/04/2024 23:13

I’ve had my share of drugs over the years but hate coke.
I’ve only tried it a few times but never again. The anxiety the next day is awful (and it turns people into arseholes)

TheChosenTwo · 24/04/2024 23:13

I used to love it. I don’t have an addictive personality though and could always take it or leave it, it was an occasional thing for me that I always viewed as a bit of a ‘treat’.
Haven’t touched it in years now and don’t miss the anxiety and crushing lows over the following day or two.
Also knowing now how it is produced and the methods it is smuggled into the country I wouldn’t go anywhere near it. I mean I probably could have found out this information at the time, I didn’t go looking for it later in life either but ended up seeing a few documentaries about it.
Finally I have 3dc and it’s not great for the old ticker!! I’d be worried about my heart too now!
It’s a cheap high though.

suntannedsnowballsinhellskitchen · 24/04/2024 23:17

I regularly used to take it throughout my twenties - didn't get addicted but we always loved a wee gram or two when we were out for the night.

Anyway tried it again a year or two ago, for old time's sake. It was fine at the time, a good night was had.

The next day? Fuck me. I cried from 7am until 7pm and I genuinely wanted to kill myself. I was a proper risk to myself and my poor, oblivious husband kept me bed bound for the duration.

I will never do it again.

Garlicked · 24/04/2024 23:21

I have, a few times. I used to work & socialise with heavy snorters. Didn't really get into it myself, largely because I can spout endless streams of loud bullshit without any assistance from Colombia 😂I find people high on coke quite annoying, tbh, though I do have some friends who use small amounts to stay sharp. Not recommended: if you're going to apply scientific rigour to control your intake, why bother?

ADHD and anxiety would work against you with cocaine. You'd be likely to feel much more focused but also much more anxious! You'd be vulnerable to awful come-downs with heightened fear and confusion. Just have another drink and allow your random thoughts to pour out of your mouth - nobody will notice the difference 😉

I also have ADHD but wasn't diagnosed until my 30s. I started drinking and using drugs in high school, then when I discovered speed and coke I became seriously addicted, using every day. Years of pain, fear, self loathing and trauma followed. Ruined finances and relationships. Many attempts to get clean, rehab, AA, NA etc. Now been clean and sober for 8 years and my ADHD is being treated properly with Concerta.

My psychiatrist says if I was probably using speed and coke to self medicate my untreated ADHD and I think she may be right.

I now have a stable and happy life, with a good job, a wonderful husband, two cherished cats and hope for the future.

The problem with coke, mdma, speed etc is that the first high is the most amazing, and after that you're just chasing that first feeling but never getting it. I could only get clean when I finally realised and accepted that I would never get that feeling again. But I wasted 20 years chasing that unattainable high.

Drugs are a dead end and are not worth it.

There are far more beautiful and amazing feelings and experiences to be had living a sober life than with street drugs.

Just to add, my doctor said it was amazing I didn't have any damage to my heart and other organs.

Your mates are normalising what is a seriously dangerous pastime, cocaine puts immense strain on your heart, and if you mix it with alcohol, which most people do, the risk of a cardiac event goes up dramatically. It's tragic hearing about young people rushed to hospital and dying just because they did too much coke mixed with booze and their hearts couldn't handle the stress.

Freakonaleash · 24/04/2024 23:24

I haven't tried it and never want to. Was offered it by a mate and lots of other randoms on a night out but said no to them all. It makes people very very cocky.
I also hate films that have drug taking scenes in. It always makes me feel uncomfortable.
In an attempt to educate myself I've read a page about it online and it's really fucking depressing stuff.

CookieCrumbles23 · 24/04/2024 23:30

I did it when I was younger but it never suited me, it was very easy for my to quit because of the horrendous come downs. I really gained nothing from it. All those friends that thought it was so cool when we were 20, have been battling ever since to stop. It’s very sad, like many, they wish they never started. It can be very addictive for some and the next day is literally like hell on earth, IME. No escape from the comedown. Don’t do it, it’s really not worth it, OP. I only drink wine now and I’m even developing an aversion to that too.

Thepossibility · 24/04/2024 23:40

I did all sorts in my youth. Coke was meh. Super expensive and very short high. Not worth it.

Onand · 24/04/2024 23:50

Don’t. Cokeheads are pathetic knobs who have zero self respect and think it makes them look good. It really doesn’t. It cheapens a person.

I judge them a lot, as you can probably tell 🤭

Holstomorrow · 25/04/2024 00:13

Nope. It was cannabis, cannabis everywhere when I was at uni, but I only ever went to one party where people were doing coke (in the early 90s) - and I was too scared to join in. I’m much too old and stodgy for that sort of malarkey now.

YoureAGoodManArthurMorgan · 25/04/2024 00:24

I've taken it quite a bit in my younger days. I was involved with some very rich and successful people and it was everywhere.

It is very addictive. Not necessarily because it makes you feel all that great but because it's a short buzz with diminishing returns. So the first line feels great, you feel confident, chatty, excited, full of beans. Then by the end of the night, you're having lines just to stop feeling terrible.

It's quite an insidious addiction because you are fine for weeks at a time and then someone suggests getting a bag in and it becomes an absolutely singular obsession that you get back on that rollercoaster again. Even when you know you'll spend the next four days feeling horrendous, you don't care. You just want that first line again. You want to spend all the dopamine in your brain on that hit. Ironically, it's genuinely not even that great of a buzz in the first place. It's just really, really moreish.

Don't start, is my advice. It takes incredible willpower to stop.

hourstokill · 25/04/2024 00:26

MrWarmth · 24/04/2024 22:54

Haven't had it in years. I prefer Pepsi Max.

this was my answer too 😂

Raggydollz · 25/04/2024 00:27

Boring drug.. never got it at all.. expensive, not that much of a high, doesn't last long. Now lsd or mdma is much more fun.

Shame I'm old and wouldn't touch anything now

Fluffywigg · 25/04/2024 00:28

I get the ‘high’ after a few drinks so I can’t imagine any drugs could make me feel any more merry etc… I couldn’t be arsed with it so drinks enough for me

I’m like that with a drink! 🤣

JadeSheep · 25/04/2024 00:32

I've tried quite a few drugs, and out of all of them it's 100% not worth it. Literally don't bother.

A real good quality coffee with a nice piece of chocolate is what you need.

MariaLuna · 25/04/2024 00:35

it looks like a great drug but I know I’ll prob be addicted. My mates all are.

Cocaine is the scourge of the world. Whole countries are fucked up because of it. Mexico, etc.

You need new friends.

Please don't fuck up your body because you want to "keep up with the Jones's"

CookieCrumbles23 · 25/04/2024 00:37

OP, if you want to feel like one of the crowd, bring your own bag along with vitamin powder in it. Just like they do in the movies. Probably get a better buzz tbf.

Just say “none of you MFs can get high on my supply - it’s mine!”

You’ll look like a cool cat with no come down 😎

DramaAlpaca · 25/04/2024 00:44

Never tried it, never would. I'm old and boring, and happy with that.
