As many ideas as possible please! I'm having a mental cooking block and can't think!

Prosciutto Tortellini with a spinach and cream sauce. A million calories, but worth it.

TrumpetOfTheMatriarchy · 20/04/2024 18:39

Chicken goujons, green beans and mashed potatoes. Followed by chocolate banana loaf and custard.

onwardandupwards · 20/04/2024 18:43

Mcdonalds for kids as I have Strep and feel awful!

maddiemookins16mum · 20/04/2024 19:40

We had pork fajitas.

@JingsMahBucket
I use the fat butcher
It varies month on month what I get, they do a family saver box at £79.99 which I get every few months, other months I do "top ups"
They have deals which make it great value like a leg of lamb for £10 which for us makes 5 meals as we butcher it down into a joint, 2 portions diced and then the left over cooked joint is minced.
Quality and taste of the meat is really good,

We had the Gousto recipe Spicy pork & ‘Nudja meatball ciabatta with chips and rocket. Was so good!

This week I’ve planned mostly Gousto recipes. I always use the recipes but just buy my own ingredients as it’s loads cheaper and I’ve got the time to cook from scratch.

Monday- Gousto Indian chicken schnitzel with spicy potato’s and slaw
Tuesday- Gousto Sweet potato & spinach curry with rice
Wednesday- Gousto Creamy chicken & pesto wholewheat pasta with basil
Thursday- Gousto Korean style basa stew with sticky rice and pickled radish
Friday- Nando’s chicken wraps with salad & sweet potato wedges

SpringLobelia · 21/04/2024 10:52

Well- despite best laid plans last night we had takeaway instead of chicken stir fry. DH was at an AGM for his very Outing Hobby and I joined them after for a drink and then lost all interest in cooking. So tonight instead of minestrone and meatball soup I am using the chicken and making a classic chicken noodle soup with garlic bread. A favourite and usually everyone will eat it. The meatballs will stay in the freezer for next week.

I am trying to really simplify my meals and so (based on an idea on MN) I am just planning around themes.

So-

friday- roast and veg
Saturdays- rice / stir fry
Sundays- soup and garlic bread
Mondays- wraps / tacos/ club sandwiches (It's a day i do a late shift so easiest)
Tuesdays- hotdogs / sausages.
Wednesdays- breakfast for dinner
Thursdays- ramen/ pasta

But I am also trying to make essentially the exact same meals for a couple of weeks as DS1 has food issues and needs less variety rather than more which can freak him out. So for three weeks the meal plan I mentioned upthread will be identical. It's a bit of a yawn but needs must! The subbing of chicken soup tonight instead of the meatball soup will pass muster.

@Fairysteps11
It helps me plan better, I can look in the freezer and work the weekly meal plan around what I have in. We also use Pesky for our fish (that has the benefit of sustainability too)
Costs around £150/month for meat and fish
Then it means weekly shop is only around £50 because it's just veg/accompaniments, breakfast and snacks 😀

Do you use a local butcher for meat?

We had mini wraps and lots of little bowls with veg, salad, avo, chicken, humus etc etc. children said it was disgusting so that was a winner 🤣

🤣🤣 my youngest ds HATES cheese, I mean HATES it. But doesn't mind cheese strings or cheddar or anything cheesy actually 🤔😆

This sounds divine!! Right up my street! Hope you enjoyed!

We had stir fried duck with veg in a Korean bbq sauce (bit too spicy for me, but DH loved it) and noodles..(Waitrose meal deal)
and a big bag of prawn crackers. Quick and tasty.

We have wondered whether to try Gousto/Hello Fresh but I've never committed! Everything sounds lovely though. Don't you find it as value for money as it seems?

I like the idea of simplifying meals. We get home 6.15/7.30pm and it's always a huge rush Monday to Friday. I hope it works well for you all! I quite fancy your menu!

For me tonight it's a Bombay Bad Boy pot noodle and a bag of Nik-Naks.

Washed down with a large glass of Chateau Lafite (1983).

And then a peppermint aero.

ShortColdandGrey · 22/04/2024 20:45

Chicken quesadilla

Iamblossom · 22/04/2024 20:49

DH cooked grilled turkey steaks, tender stem broccoli, green beans, and leeks.
Yum.

Rescue2024 · 22/04/2024 20:51

We had marinated kebab chicken and halloumi. Greek flat bread, tazikki, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber.

the recipe for chow mein is one I am definitely going to add to the meal plan

PTSDBarbiegirl · 22/04/2024 20:54

Mince & potatoes in Scotland.

GoodnightAdeline · 22/04/2024 20:58

We had roast chicken dinner

TheChosenTwo · 22/04/2024 21:18

We had roast chicken too @GoodnightAdeline - didn’t have a roast yesterday as everyone was in and out at different times (okay and dh the cook was out with ds and they didn’t get back until 8:30 😂 so I just had a salad!).
