How can the current inhabitants not see that their furniture really doesn't work in those spaces? I agree, it could be lovely.

I'd have it given then totally change it. I wouldn't part with money.

This. It could be half the price and I wouldn't pay for it. Horrible and characterless.

It probably belongs to a couple in their 90s who don't follow trends and wouldn't have a clue how to update it.
I'm sure the furniture they have now used to be all the rage a few decades ago.
It certainly looks like someone lived a long good life in this house...

Perhaps the current inhabitants are more interested in books than they are in interior design.

Thank god it has a heat pump and solar panels, heating those huge spaces with enormous windows in a Scottish winter would be a nightmare.

LadyMary50 · 16/04/2024 17:22

I think it looks like a large nursing home.Definitely not for me..

VenetiaHallisWellPosh · 16/04/2024 17:26

I'd have to spend £££ to gut it and start again.

YouAndMeAndThem · 16/04/2024 17:27

Worth over a million but looks like a large council house!

Janetime · 16/04/2024 17:28

It wouldn’t be for me to be honest. Large house and good bones though.

romdowa · 16/04/2024 17:29

I think it needs a few more books !

Yes. It's awful.

The views / prospect of the house is lovely. The actual design is awful & dated. That's leaving out the interior decor & configuration.

Would you want to swim in that pool? 🤢

Zyq · 16/04/2024 17:31

Lovely grounds, and I love it that they have so many bookshelves. I could be tempted if I had that sort of money, but I think I'd want to knock the price down more so that I could afford a lot of remodelling of the interior.

MaybeRevisitYourWipingT3chnique · 16/04/2024 17:32

It does look amazing. I wouldn't necessarily furnish and decorate it the way the current owners have, but it's their house and their choices, so I really don't see the issue. If you buy it from them, then it's your house, and you're free to have the interior however you like it.

Not wanting to derail, but I never understand why indoor swimming pools in private houses bother to give space over to having actual purpose-designed changing rooms alongside them. Wouldn't you just use your own bedroom - or strip off at the poolside or just swim naked, if it's just you and your family?!

ManchesterBeatrice · 16/04/2024 17:32

I see a soulless new-ish build

And also in Markinch 😂

Yeah, me too. It’s very Glenrothes.

CuriousBogInTheNight · 16/04/2024 17:40

I love it OP, including the wallpaper, the gorgeous wardrobes and the wood panelling. It may be dated but it's absolutely my style! And 5 acres of garden including woodland - heaven!!!

NigelHarmansNewWife · 16/04/2024 17:41

It's a massive 60s/70s box that looks like someone turned a leisure centre into a house, leaving the swimming pool and changing rooms. You know it's bad when there's no photo of the kitchen. Vast, and kind of soulless.

Because you invite people over, including your kids' friends?

And fill it with lovely mid 20th century furniture…..
