Just received an exceptionally nasty threatening email... spam

listsandbudgets · 16/04/2024 13:39

I am not worried not least because I don't view porn or perform solitary sex acts in front of my computer.... however of all the nasty emails I've ever received this is possibly the worst!!

If anyone gets something like this please don't worry it's a very nasty blackmail attempt by someone who doesn't have the material they claim.

I am posting it below so that if anyone else does get it they can see they're not alone and there's no need to be upset by these people. I know for some people this could be very distressing Flowers

That's hilarious. I'd reply asking them to correct their spelling and grammar because you don't understand 😂

Don't ever respond to spam emails. Delete and ignore or forward them to the government phishing site if you need to.

Yes, I've had that one a few times over the years, got about 10 of them last week. Not nice.

TraitorsGate · 16/04/2024 13:47

Don't t open or respond, report to the police and the scam site as above, idiots like this need stopping,

ItDoesntHaveToBeDave · 16/04/2024 13:50

They are awful aren't they. My son got one a couple of months ago and it frightened him so much - he ignored it after getting advice and realising his downloading of films from a dodgy website (not porn, just a site that does up to date films for free) was nothing to do with it, but then I read a couple of weeks after about a lad roughly the same age who committed suicide because of one.
The people that send them are disgusting.

OooohAhhhh · 16/04/2024 13:51

This is so old news! I got lots of these with similar wording but the senders are always different.
Masturbation is common I guess so they think by sending it to everyone someone will believe them. I feel sorry for the people that fall for it tho and do send them bitcoin. It's very difficult to put viruses on smart phones aswell, the iOS's are always updating with new security updates included.
People just need to avoid clicking on dodgy links in the emails.

Cas112 · 16/04/2024 13:52

Just ignore them and report each email address as spam

loropianalover · 16/04/2024 13:54

I’ve gotten dozens of this exact email over the years. Just in case anyone has received this and is in a panic, don’t stress. They spam hundreds of inboxes with these emails at random, and probably a follow up in a month or two. It’s not targeted at you specifically, they don’t know you or remember sending this email to you. Your email address is just on a list somewhere online as are millions of others.

Never ever respond even just to mess with them. All that does is let them know your email is actively in use, and they’ll sell your address on to another group as a potential target. Then you end up with more emails and who knows you could accidentally click a link etc. without thinking one day.

rockingbird · 16/04/2024 13:55

My only hope is the dirty old buggers wanking at these exploited women online cough up 😆 the grammar is atrocious but hey.. that's standard.

cheeseandketchupsandwich · 16/04/2024 13:57

@Blink360 I assumed the 😂 would be enough to show it was a joke

fromaytobe · 16/04/2024 13:58

I got one similar to that a few months ago. 'Dream on sunshine' I thought, and deleted it. They won't find anything interesting on my webcam, that's for sure. Not unless they like watching tabby cats licking their arse.

Aposterhasnoname · 16/04/2024 13:59

That’s been doing the rounds for years. You’d think they’d come up with a new angle by now.

takemeawayagain · 16/04/2024 14:04

We've had several like that. There's one where they say they've put stuff on your computer and they've done this and that and they're in control blah blah blah then they say not to worry because once you pay them they will immediately stop doing what they are doing because they are honest and can be completely trusted - or some other obviously total twattery.

I always laugh at how they say they're honest and can be trusted while trying to extort thousands out of you.

buswankerz · 16/04/2024 14:09

There was a boy who committed suicide after receiving these emails. Please forward on and/or share on your social media to raise awareness.

overthinkersanonnymus · 16/04/2024 14:21

I got one of these years ago in a text. I replied that they now owe me £600 for getting a free show!

Dick heads

JFDIYOLO · 16/04/2024 16:28

The social group I run received an email saying the group - the whole group 🤣- had been caught at it on camera! Ignore it.

PinkBuffalo · 16/04/2024 16:31

Thanks OP that is a really horrible email. I did not know they did get send out like that so good to be aware

Sharontheodopolodous · 16/04/2024 16:40

My mother in law got one a while back

Thankfully, she's crap with tech so showed her brother (who worked in tech) and he deleted it for her and we reassured her that it was a con

She'd just lost her husband of 50 years at the time so was even more upset about it

I would love to hunt the arsehole down and hurt him-i mean why?

Not long after, she happened to be having new windows fitted

The window fitter was (thankfully) there when she got a phone call to ask if she banked with xyz bank?

Yes-I do

Well your bank account has been hacked,I need you to gave me your bank details, they are on your bank card...

Thank god the window fitter was there and said it sounded like a scam so she put the phone down-rang the bank, yep scam

What I'd love to do to that scammer-well,I'd get banned if I said

I'm guessing some people fall for it and pay so it makes it worth their while

Thankfully, she's not had one in a while

listsandbudgets · 16/04/2024 16:43

Thanks everyone. I did want to take a moment to raise awareness of these horrible emails. My 94 year old great aunt got something similar a few months ago but thankfully her carer who helps her check her emails got to it before she did - GA would have been really upset if she'd seen it.

@Aposterhasnoname A new angle? Surely one angle is enough on our solitary sex acts 😂

Verite1 · 16/04/2024 16:44

You are lucky that this is the first one you have ever received. I’ve had loads- I just delete.

Verite1 · 16/04/2024 16:45

However thanks for the thread as it has made me think that I should tell my teen son about the scam just in case.

fieldsofbutterflies · 16/04/2024 16:47

They've been doing the rounds for at least 25 years. I remember getting one when I was about thirteen!

Boomer55 · 16/04/2024 16:50

Just ignore.

listsandbudgets · 16/04/2024 16:50

@JFDIYOLO Can I join to your social group too... it sounds far more exciting than your average get together - I had been thinking about joining a book club but on second thoughts......

@Sharontheodopolodous Glad the window cleaner was there for your MiL. There are so many very nasty scammers out there now it makes me sick

CatamaranViper · 16/04/2024 16:50

Ah I get these all the time!

At work we often chime up when we get one to let others know we've been caught again and keep a tally.

I was winning but my colleague has overtaken me...
