Just received an exceptionally nasty threatening email... spam

I am not worried not least because I don't view porn or perform solitary sex acts in front of my computer.... however of all the nasty emails I've ever received this is possibly the worst!!

If anyone gets something like this please don't worry it's a very nasty blackmail attempt by someone who doesn't have the material they claim.

I am posting it below so that if anyone else does get it they can see they're not alone and there's no need to be upset by these people. I know for some people this could be very distressing

We got one years ago from Hampshire police saying they knew we had child sexual abuse pictures on our computer but if we gave them £100 they wouldn’t break our door down 😳

Mine threatened to inform of my clients of the disgusting websites I visited. I think my business would survive the general public knowing im a mumsnetter. Although maybe not! The Mail online is as bad as it gets sadly for my blackmailer.

I've had all of them, many times. The funniest was when HMRC said there was a warrant out for my arrest due to the amount of money I owed. I had only just paid a tax bill of £20k so knew it was lie. And this one is really mean. I just can't believe it.

I've been getting these since l first got a PC in 1990 when Tim Berners-Lee invented the World Wide Web.
I just delete and block.

This reminds me of those articles where someone has been caught at it and it reads “the footage showed her performing a sex act upon him”. It always makes me picture some kind of interpretive dance.

@SallyWD that password will almost certainly have been part of one of the big data breaches. You can look up on the haveibeenpwned site to see which passwords have been leaked. If you have an Apple device it will also tell you which passwords on that device have been part of a data leak.

its a regular scam. i've asked for a dozen copies in the past to pass to friends but strangely never got a reply

I've had them in the past. I've replied and said good luck to them, I look forward to watching the footage and oddly have never heard from them again.

If you have a Pixel or a Gmail account they also do a dark web report and search your details/email address for breaches. I found that picked up ones that weren't on haveibeenpwned which was worrying.

I've had those. They included my full name and my old address.

Thing is, I don't watch porn and even if I did and they had somehow filmed me, I imagine it would be far worse for anyone receiving the footage than it would be for me. For me it would be a little embarrassing sure but would they ever recover from wanting to bleach their own eyes?

I had one a few years ago I missed as was in spam so the time for sending to everyone in my contacts had gone

I did a Facebook post apologising to everyone who had been sent videos of me wanking but........did my tits look good 😊

I had one purportedly from the DVLA about unpaid car tax. From a Hotmail address.

I've received similar.
