This €113 / day rule for Spain

Just been reading about this. We are going to Spain for two weeks (AI, I think this is relevant but can't find anything about it!) for 14 nights. 2 adults, two kids. €6328 for two weeks.

We won't spend anywhere near hat, probably a couple of K max.

We could prove it with credit cards, but apparently online accounts aren't enough and the Spanish are asking for Travellers cheques or cash. What if you get paid halfway through the holiday? Do kids have to €113 a day too?

All seems a bit bonkers.

The "how many of you/where are you staying/how long are you staying/what is the purpose of your visit" grilling has been standard for years in the US and Canada. It's only Europe that usually waves you through with barely a glance.

It's not a new rule and we have never been asked, it's more something that they can ask people who do not have accommodation pre booked.

Anyway if you arrive in a TUI flight they care even less it seems, e gates and passport stamped without him even looking up to check my face

Just back from Spain, had no idea about this! We got the ferry over and passport control took about 10 seconds… that was it.

They only tend to ask people who have an open ended ticket. If you're going on a package holiday chances of you being asked are pretty much zero.

I was there 2 weeks ago. No one queried me at all.

Look, if everyone could just pretend it's a complete ballache to get in to Spain to satisfy those posters who feel that we all deserve a collective wrap on the knuckles for Brexit, regardless of how we voted, then maybe they could scratch this itch and move on? Come on, now, for the greater good?

Carta de invitación is nothing new.
If you have a package holiday ie; accommodation and a return ticket booked you have nothing to worry about.
Enjoy your holiday 😎

Exactly! I travelled to Spain and was stuck in a queue for 15 minutes while EU passport holders wandered past and waved their burgundy passport in the air, with a smug smile, and how they laughed.

Five minutes later I caught up with them at luggage control and how they laughed again when their case was on the conveyor belt in front of mine and they got on the shuttle bus ahead of me.

Same happened in Croatia, Greece, Italy, Sardinia, Malta who I have visited within the past year.

I was so embarrassed to be queuing for an extra 10 mins - serves us Brits right🙁we should be ashamed of ourselves.

Are you an adult? Do you honestly think anyone noticed or cared much less laughed?! The paranoia is off the scale. An extra 15 minutes makes no difference to your life and do you honestly think the baggage handlers give any thought to Brexit 😂 - they simply offload the luggage as each flight arrives!

You do know most passengers are international these days!!! Suitcases don’t tend to vote whether they like eu bureaucrats or not 😂 and if they did more of them would be French and Dutch than British!!!!! 🇬🇧

Am currently in Spain, arrived 3 days ago. The border control guy didn't even look at me as he stamped my passport, never mind engage me in conversation about money or anything else!
