I for one don't want to see that.

Urgh.

Yes, I don't know if they'd get many takers for the group who would watch the material. I was shocked by the show How To Catch A Copper though and if the police have normalised acting that way, it's not a huge leap to see how Politicians get away with it. Some sort of monitoring is needed. How do these large sums disappear without it flagging immediately?

I think Labour should add up the man hours Tories are spending on 6 policemen working on Rayner and make it part of their campaign. Must be well over what they are trying to show she has claimed incorrectly.

In a sense the cost of an investigation and whether it is more than less than the alleged fraud should not be a factor in determining whether the investigation happens, as justice should be done.

I was quite shocked that there are 8 ex Tory MPs sitting as independents when Shapps was questioned about it this morning. And I follow politics a bit, and hadn't realised there were so many.

I think they should make it the subject of an FoI request so the figure’s accurate.

Via @IpsosUK, 3-15 Apr.
Changes w/ 21-18 Feb.

Notonthestairs · 18/04/2024 11:55

I'm sure that's part of The Plan.

DuncinToffee · 18/04/2024 12:29

Another dodgy donor

  • remember the fraud claims against this Tory donor who flew Rishi Sunak in a rented private jet last year?
  • now we can reveal that he's had £14m of assets frozen by the High Court

Reading the Mark Menzies story in The Times, it's seems like another Tory MP who thinks he's starring in his own bad film. Rather than, you know, working for his constituents.

🤨

"Just because an accusation is made, or something is written, doesn't mean it is necessarily proven"

🍑 Schnapps suggesting we shouldn't rush to judgement before the investigation into Menzies.

I wanted to reach into the radio and gag schnapps this morning.

What an absolute smarmy patronising shitface he is.

I can't find any reason that suggests the Lords will vote differently on another occassion.
Although if all Tory peers turned up they could have enough votes to get it passed.

The reporter on Newsnigbt last night said there were enough Tory peers on the estate last night to pass it but they weren't in the chamber to vote. He said it looked like a deliberate ploy by the tories to delay the legislation. Better optics for Sunak to be fighting hard against unelected Labour peers rather than unable to deliver due to his completely incompetent governance.

DuncinToffee · 18/04/2024 13:05

This is real.

Sunak's even getting tetchy in parliamentary questions now.

I suspect he will regret that.

"Would the right honourable member agree the position that holds accountability for government is called the Prime Minister ?"

In fact if there aren't already a slew of memes on this, then the internet has failed us.

BIossomtoes · 18/04/2024 13:11

I suspect he’s going to end up with a very long list of regrets.

Honestly, this lot make the dying days of the Major government in 1997 look like business as usual, nothing to see here, humdrum, normal.

That's so rude.

And also rather suggests he has no view of our place on an international stage. Little Englander stuff.

I thought we established some time ago that the PM was only responsible for the Pot plants?

DuncinToffee · 18/04/2024 14:54

No way Shock

Mark Menzies suspended from role as unpaid trade envoy to Colombia, says No 10

TooBigForMyBoots · 18/04/2024 15:14

Not only is there no Tory branding but that is one of Labour's slogans from the 2001 election...

Notonthestairs · 18/04/2024 15:52

So the Conservative brand is now so toxic that it's MPs/party representatives have to do everything they can to distance themselves from the party.

Good grief.
Just call a bloody election and let us all move on.

I am still unable to shake a feeling that all of this is happening because Rish! (or his backers) have absolutely no intention of calling an election.
