Talk to me about how easily you conceived

Compsearch · 11/04/2024 16:49

I’m just turned 37, had a mc at 8 weeks in Feb, first proper cycle trying again this month (1 period in between).

I’ve got a 5 and 3 year old who were conceived quickly (cycle 1 at 30, cycle 3 at 33). Now 2dpo and just so desperate to be pregnant again.

Obviously I appreciate it could take months or years, and that I’m incredibly lucky to have the kids I do, but to give me some positive vibes please tell me about your easy/quick conception stories, preferably in late 30s or older!

@MsGrumpytrousers do shorter cycles = shorter pregnancies? I’d never heard that. Mine are 30 days and both of mine were induced at 2 weeks overdue!

Well, it seemed obvious to me - it's not nine calendar months, and why would it be based on a lunar month? It's surely got to be based on the woman's own cycles.

I mentioned this to someone I was doing a historical reenactment with, and she turned out to be a mediaeval historian. She said that mediaeval midwives knew this and it's how they did their calculations.

I did think that the way the medical staff treated their due date as some kind of divinely ordained deadline was hilarious.

allyjay · 12/04/2024 00:47

1st cycle at 23, 1st cycle at 33, 2nd cycle at 35, 1st cycle at 40
Was very lucky with all 4 of my pregnancies

4 cycles aged 23 (dc1)
1 cycle aged 25 (dc2)
2 cycles aged 28 (mc)
1 cycle aged 28 (dc3)

Hey OP.
Very varied responses from PPs on here about this.
It is bound to be very difficult for those who have been trying a long time and seem to be getting nowhere.
After a loss its also very difficult to get your head round that but desperately wanting to have the baby in your arms.
Sorry for your loss and sorry to other PPs who have been having losses and issues.
I had pill for 8 years when younger and had 1 cycle.and fell pregnant, then 23 months between first and second child. That was in my early 20s.
Had my third back to back implant removed age 39, had one cycle and fell pregnant in the May of 2021. Baby ended up with issues and had to have TFMR for this in Nov 2021.
Fell pregnant again in January 2022 and had baby in October 2022 age 40.
Was breastfeeding and only had one period somewhere last summer, fell pregnant July 2023 and unexpectedly delivered baby on the bathroom floor tonight - 18 months between this one and the last one, now age 41.
I took CoQ10 between and seven seas prenatal vitamins.
I send hugs to you and other PPs that are TTC and truly am very sorry for all of the losses that have been mentioned.
Pregnancy is such an amazing thing, and great when it happens quickly, but it's hard to imagine the downside to it unless youve been through the sad times of it too......I admit I was very naive to the hardship of loss until I had to go through it and it makes you realise that it's not all flowers and sunshine for a lot of women who are trying to achieve the one thing that should happen naturally with no issues.
Look after yourself OP, keep that chin up.and it will happen. X

RelativePitch · 12/04/2024 02:36

5 months at 33 but had 2 chemical pregnancies during that time.
1 month at 35
And not trying at all, one off after a dry spell at 46.

TheSandgroper · 12/04/2024 05:00

So easily I am embarrassed.

TheSandgroper · 12/04/2024 05:01

Oh, and it was my first pregnancy, I was 38.

GogAndMagog · 12/04/2024 05:06

Tried for a year, no success. Wasn't really trying, more, if it happens, it happens. But I was getting disappointed....

Aged 39. Friend told me to be more 'scientific'. So I was. Didn't stress DP with it.

Pregnant two months later.

Good luck.

Oh, and with number 2, tried the older sperm thing where, when you ovulate, there's already sperm hanging about.

How's that helpful?? Read the OP.

yellowr0se · 12/04/2024 05:09

1st/ 2nd cycle for both pregnancies aged 27 and 29 xx

DottyPencil · 11/04/2024 17:35

At 37 after 2 DCs, my exH only had to put his trousers on the end of the bed. That was enough for DC3 to be conceived.

Is your DC named Jesus?

Thatsthewayitisnt · 12/04/2024 05:23

Conceived first cycle three times. I’ve been lucky .

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 12/04/2024 05:27

39 - first time without contraception. Pregnancy all fine, felt very well.

I’m sorry for your loss.

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 12/04/2024 05:45

First DC was 2nd cycle at 38. Second DC was first cycle at 41.

PurBal · 12/04/2024 05:48

2 with DC1 at 30. 1 with DC2 at 32.

toddlermam · 12/04/2024 07:17

I am younger, however my mom is the exact same and she had babies at 18, 20, 26 and 32 all the first month of TTC and again fell pregnant with twins at 40 after a slip up! (However she did not continue with the pregnancy) but even at late 40s she has to be extremely careful with contraception now.

I fell pregnant at 20 first month, had a miscarriage and again fell pregnant straight away.

ViciousCurrentBun · 12/04/2024 07:25

Over 30, first cycle first time and second time second cycle.

My Mother was extremely fertile and had six children, myself and my 4 sisters were all the same though we had one or two children each. Two sisters are Grandmothers now and their daughters also conceived easily. No idea if it’s genetic or just all very lucky.

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 12/04/2024 07:26

DC1 1st cycle, DC2 1st cycle (early 20s for both). DC3 6th cycle when I was 36.

Good luck

These threads always attract the people who are just desperate to tell everyone they conceived first time. It seems to happen in real life as well, people always seem keen to share it, almost like some sort of self validation thing, it’s odd.

Realistically about 30% of people conceive first time so it’s certainly not the norm. Most people will conceive within six months and the vast majority in 12. It’s perfectly normal to take up to a year or two and it doesn’t mean anything is wrong.

You might like to wander over to some of the TTC threads for some support and a more balanced view as having hundreds of people come along to tell you how they conceived first time probably won’t be helpful.

OP specifically asked for these stories, NOT stories about it taking ages to conceive.

I actually think the opposite is true, anyway. I never talk about how easily I conceived in ‘RL’ and I’ve very rarely heard anyone else do it. Most people are sensitive to the fact that it’s not the same for everyone. If anything, it’s almost a ‘secret’ that I don’t share precisely because I don’t want people like you to think I’m doing some sort of misguided bragging.

RomeoRivers · 12/04/2024 09:01

26- 1st cycle- mc
29- 1st cycle- mc
29- 1st cycle- mc
Now on progesterone
30- 3rd cycle- DD
32- 1st cycle- DS
34- 2nd cycle- 11.5 weeks

Good luck! I understand the frustration and impatience after loss x

@YaWeeFurryBastard I am fully aware of the reality - but while I’m in the 2 week wait id actually love to hear all the positive stories where people conceived easily and quickly (as I said in my OP) - there’s no harm in dreaming is there!

But saying that I’m also grateful to those who shared their stories of things taking longer. Women have to put up with so much. We are all incredible.

I conceived on my first cycle both times but I was in my late 20s.

MudandMoet · 12/04/2024 11:12

@Compsearch I started trying to conceive at the grand old age of 41, it's not been easy with a few MC's along the way but I'm just past 20 weeks and I'm now 44. Basically if you really want it, don't give up, it can happen!! (I remember how bloody awful the TWW is 😩) sending you lots of luck xx
