Talk to me about how easily you conceived

I’m just turned 37, had a mc at 8 weeks in Feb, first proper cycle trying again this month (1 period in between).

I’ve got a 5 and 3 year old who were conceived quickly (cycle 1 at 30, cycle 3 at 33). Now 2dpo and just so desperate to be pregnant again.

Obviously I appreciate it could take months or years, and that I’m incredibly lucky to have the kids I do, but to give me some positive vibes please tell me about your easy/quick conception stories, preferably in late 30s or older!

I got pregnant my first month of trying at age 37! I was (very happily) shocked. Some additional context though; I’d tried for a long time before but lost significant amount of weight over the year previous, and we took a break from trying. Then we decided to try again now I was healthier, and boom BFP! 32w pregnant now and very happy

onawave · 11/04/2024 19:55

Eldest first month of trying when I was 40. Youngest was 1 "it's only once what are the chances?" when I was 41.

I got pregnant by accident when I was 36.

Me too!

Conceived first cycle at 27, second cycle at 30 and then one-off contraception failure at 36.

1 year for the first and straight away for the second.

AdventuresAwait · 11/04/2024 19:58

2nd cycle and I was 39.

About 16 years followed by 5 miscarriages

Thank you for all the responses!

@IBegYourBiggestPardon do you have dc and were all the mcs in quick succession? I’m so sorry for all of your losses.

Conceived first DC the first month of trying when I was 33. When I was 35 I conceived second DC by accident, I was still breast feeding DC1, DH did withdraw early and it was only three days after my period had finished. Midwife told me I must be super fertile!

nc14 · 11/04/2024 21:37

Conceived by accident at 36 and 39.

MsGrumpytrousers · 11/04/2024 22:04

I stopped using contraception and was pregnant a month or two later. I was 40. Never had a miscarriage, had a lovely pregnancy and a speedy home birth at 38 weeks (which I'd expected as my cycle is only 24 days). It does seem unfair!

Itsokish · 11/04/2024 22:08

1st cycle 29
1st cycle 31
1st cycle 36

Mumaway · 11/04/2024 22:08

DD1 age 32 took 8 months and some anxiety. DD2 age 35 we talked about trying again and I was pregnant by bedtime....

Compsearch · 11/04/2024 22:10

@MsGrumpytrousers do shorter cycles = shorter pregnancies? I’d never heard that. Mine are 30 days and both of mine were induced at 2 weeks overdue!

Cycle 1 at 24 (ectopic).

TTC 2 years and waiting for IVF at 33 (different partner).

My close friend recently conceived on Cycle 1 at 40!

Another close friend took 23 cycles to get her DS1 (finally conceived aged 32). At 34 her DS2 was only 6 cycles. At 38 her DD was an accident 😂. Clearly some people become more fertile with age!

DH best friend and his wife took 3 years and 5 rounds of IVF in their late twenties - unexplained infertility.

Sometimes there’s no rhyme nor reason. Good luck!

Globetrote · 11/04/2024 22:16

3rd cycle at age 40
2nd cycle at 41 (mc)

UnctuousUnicorns · 11/04/2024 22:18

DC1, immediately after I stopped taking the combined Pill i.e. I didn't have a natural cycle before I conceived. DC2 was conceived while I was taking the mini pill, when DC1 was seven months old. DC3 was conceived three and a half years after DH had his vasectomy of five years reversed.

DaisyMaisieMe · 11/04/2024 22:20

So sorry for your loss.

Cycle 1 age 34
Cycle 1 age 37
MC age 38 (wasn't trying to get preg and still unsure how contraception failed)
Cycle 1 age 39

PorcupineSpongeTeeth · 11/04/2024 22:23

Got pregnant at 38, first try after having contraceptive implant removed. (Partner worked away at the time so I can literally narrow it down to the specific occasion!)

Upinthenightagain · 11/04/2024 22:26

When I was 29 and started trying I conceived every month for 5 months but kept having chemicals until The 5th month which was dd1. I then tried again when I was 37 and got pregnant first cycle again but lost it at 12 weeks. Then got pregnant the very next cycle with DD2.

mlc0 · 11/04/2024 22:28

I seem to conceive fairly easy, we started trying in October 2022 and conceived November 2022, April 2023, August 2023 and December 2023. Unfortunately all ended in miscarriages but conceiving isn't the issue for us it's getting them to stick around. I'm 27 and Dh is 40

Sharkysharky · 11/04/2024 22:38

I've been very lucky in that we conceived our children first cycle but we did have one pregnancy loss (our first). Pregnancies that spanned 20s up to 36. I have cycles that are about 35 days long. All my pregnancies went over the full 2 weeks. Now that I'm having peri symptoms in 40s (I'm currently getting tested to check hormone levels) my cycles are down to 27 days.
Edited to say sorry to those of you who have experienced difficulties 💐

LightSpeeds · 11/04/2024 22:42

My fertility increased as I got older and the more babies I had.

dizzydizzydizzy · 11/04/2024 22:43

DC2 conceived at 37 - 2nd month

HumanbyDesign · 11/04/2024 22:45

JMAngel1 · 11/04/2024 17:27

Sorry for your loss.

I conceived cycle 1 twice at 37 and 39. Was shocked the first time as thought it would take ages.

This was me too, same ages/stages!

mondaytosunday · 11/04/2024 22:47

Got pregnant four months of trying , gave birth at 41. Second baby (at 43) the same.
Didn't do anything anything special just did the deed regularly!
