OJ was proven innocent. Not sure which victims you're on about.

No, he was found not guilty. He was later found culpable by a different court.

The man that proved that money can get you off with murder

I'm not sure it was money, more the inability of the jury to make a decision based on the evidence

For a different crime. Let the poor man rest in peace.

May he rest in peace. An icon of many generations, and one of the first real all-round 'celebrities'. Incredible sportsman and actor.
My thoughts are with his friends and family.

Are you confusing him with someone else?

Well, even if you want to be goady about the people he killed, there was also that other crime of kidnapping and armed robbery, for which he served time. What a lovely guy!

No, you're wrong, he was found guilty in a civil court

'if the glove don't fit, your must acquit'

Sealtheenvelope · 11/04/2024 18:02

I'm glad he's dead.

He got off because he had a fantastic defence team who selected the right jury, exposed Mark Fuhrman as a racist, cast doubt over Dennis Fung's DNA evidence, and because 'the glove didn't fit'. He was of course (as anyone who watched the trial will know) guilty of murder without a shred of doubt.

Rest in peace Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman.

He was as famous in the UK then as Michael Jordan is now.

I'd disagree with that, I've been interested in sport all my life and I'd be very surprised if before the murders he was anything like as well known in the UK as Michael Jordan was

High profile sports sponsorships etc weren't such a big thing in those days

shoppingshamed · 11/04/2024 18:05

misszebra · 11/04/2024 18:02

'if the glove don't fit, your must acquit'

Exactly, that demonstrates the piss poor prosecution and general level of knowledge of a jury who presumably were unaware that leather shrinks when wet and the whole trying them on was a joke

misszebra · 11/04/2024 18:06

So many are dancing on this poor mans tombstone before hes even been buried. He was a true icon, and from what I've heard an incredible father. So many years in the court of public opinion, I am sure he is truly at peace now.
I hope none of you ever get wrongly accused of a crime, with the lack of sympathy I have read here.

Soonenough · 11/04/2024 18:06

Hope he suffered . Rot in hell . He also wrote a disgusting book called If I Did It basically outlining the murders . Shame on those who published or bought it putting money in his pockets.

Growing up, he was a huge household name from my memory. Much more so than say Ronaldo is these days. Comparable to Beckham in his prime

In the UK? I'd be very interested to hear if anyone else thinks that, not using the benefit of hindsight, what they actually knew of him in say 1990

I really really don't think he was ever as famous as David Beckham outside of the US

elialxox · 11/04/2024 18:10

Good lol. Dirty woman abuser

The money from any book sales now goes to the Goldman family thank goodness.

I just looked it up, he retired from football in 1979, in what context would anyone have known him in the UK, we didn't have televised American football at that time

because some cruel folk won't let the man rest in peace. what's the appeal in trashing his name?

He was an abuser and murderer. Think he 'trashed' his own name really...

Bertiebadgers · 11/04/2024 18:14

@misszebra, that ship sailed a long time ago. His name is well & truly in the gutter. Have you watched any of the TV series/ documentaries about the murders? It’s pretty clear he was guilty.

Bertiebadgers · 11/04/2024 18:15

Poor Nicole in that 911 call, she was terrified of him. Also going on the run is not the act of an innocent man!

This. He got away with murder. He doesn't deserve to rest in peace.
