🔥 Weird Things Your Neighbours Do Thread

I'll start... My neighbour thinks it's totally acceptable to sit in their car with the engine running and lights on.... for 3-4 hours, 6 nights of the week! Not in front of their own house. My mind truly boggles, they are still there now and it's 1:20. Arrived just after 21:00. 🙈 It must be costing a fortune.

Any thoughts as to why he does this?

Pressure washing their cars in the rain.
If we take in a parcel, they wait until one of their DC (who don't live there full-time) are home to come & collect it. They've been our neighbours for 4 years - in that time I can count on one hand how many times the actual adults (x2) have collected a parcel. They'd rather leave it at ours for days until the eldest DD is home to come & get it.

We live in a cul de sac with 12 houses. Each house has two allocated off-road parking spaces. They belong to specific houses and show on the deeds as part of the property you own. There are a good half dozen cars always parked on the road, half way up the kerb and half blocking the road and blocking each other in. They belong to residents, not guests or randoms, and the spaces that they should be in, which are all completely off-road, not blocked in and within 5 metres of the houses, are left empty. I do not understand it.

Princesspollyyy · 10/04/2024 20:22

My neighbours are awful. We have new ones to the right and they seem ok so far, however the ones to the left are horrible.

The mum had an affair and left, the dad is smokes weed all day and the eldest daughter is an absolutely b*tch. Gives us dirty looks and leave sh1tty notes on our cars, because she doesn't like how we park, no matter how we park she doesn't like it, even though we are parked on our own drive.

Our male neighbour in garden flat below likes doing yoga (fine) in his shorts - fine until the daily 5 minute headstand when without fail, one or both of his bollocks drop out of his shorts.

Bumblebeeinatree · 10/04/2024 20:22

Ask him?

😂I'm crying!

Now I need to know where does it fall out from? The leg part? But how if he is upside down? 🤔

MsFogi · 10/04/2024 20:35

My old next door neighbour used to vacuum her back garden (it was devoid of anything apart from white tiles because apparently it was a 'Zen garden'). I don't know why but it really gave me the rage whenever I saw her out there vacuuming (possibly something to do with the beautiful tree she had torn down to create the zen garden).

Porageeater · 10/04/2024 20:38

Bangs on my living room window to get my attention. Has to walk past my front door to get to the window.

BOOTS52PollyPrissyPants · 10/04/2024 20:48

These are all just brilliant. Had a good giggle. Hope op asks car guy what he is doing.

Youdontknowmedoyou · 10/04/2024 20:50

Our neighbour insists on using our gate. He has his own but insists on walking out of ours and all the way back down his own drive to his car. He's not a bad neighbour it's just interesting.

I don't understand how this is possible and my brain won't let it go, could you explain again please or I won't sleep.

Angelik · 10/04/2024 21:00

@MoonlightMemories towels would not have gone mouldy overnight! I would've been cross like your neighbour!

Damnyourheadshoulderskneesandtoes · 10/04/2024 21:00

A couple in their twenties a few doors up regularly have the emergency services out. They've had chimney fires, they've called an ambulance for one of them because the other one thought they were dead, but they were just really drunk Confused

flowertoday · 10/04/2024 21:05

One of our neighbours ( who is lovely and smiley ) wears cleaning overalls - like a kind of dinner lady outfit - all of the time. Even at weekends or holiday days.
I think she does lots of cleaning 🤔 I think she is a sahp rather than cleaning company owner or operative.
I am puzzled, but also perhaps feeling guilty😔 I would never do such a thing or devote myself so whole heartedly to the domestic goddess cause. I am a cleaning outfit free sloven. 🤪

LauderSyme · 10/04/2024 21:13

My neighbours are all seemingly fairly nice and normal. Worrying, because I think that must mean I'm the barmy one 😜

feelingalittlehorse · 10/04/2024 21:27

Ohhh I have a car sitter!!! Every evening, gets back from work (I presume?) and sits on her driveway with the engine and lights on, on the phone. For ages. She lives on her own, so I’m not sure why she can’t have the conversation in the house 🤷🏽‍♀️

I mean, she’s not harming anyone but it’s like clockwork.

cfmtb · 10/04/2024 21:32

Not to us but the people who lived here before had to get a restraining order on ours because he kept getting a ladder to peer over their fence whenever they changed any thing in their garden - did not declare this to us when they sold it hahaha
We just see him as a slightly bizarre old guy - he's a bit creepy and a bit strange but harmless so far to us!

Princesspollyyy · 11/04/2024 09:59

My neighbour can't park her car properly, she's going to hit my car one of these days. And she has got a tiny hatchback, so no excuses. And no it's not an elderly lady either, a gobby gobsh1te in her twenties.

She's just got a new car, her old one was covered in dents and scrapes, and she accused us of doing it!! 😂😂 When after seeing her attempt to park and reverse off her drive, it's clear what caused it.

VenetiaHallisWellPosh · 11/04/2024 11:31

Alcoholic neighbour will moan excessively about the noise from music playing in the downstairs flat and the noise from the skate park nearby ( because he sleeps all day) then plays loud music himself through the night. Dickhead.

Ok that's me dead 🤣

VerlynWebbe · 11/04/2024 11:38

On one side there is a lovely family, who I can't see because of high hedges but I can hear them, obviously. They're such nice parents. The guy often put on music in the garden for the kids. But it'll be one song, on repeat, some K-pop number, over and over and over.

It's really anti-social to play music that'll be heard by about twenty back gardens: it's just not on. That's what headphones are for. I can't get over that this nice man does such a thoughtless thing.

Loki64 · 11/04/2024 17:50

My neighbour txts me a million times a day when she can see im at work. I dont reply and then she bombards me with messages aaking why i havent replied, is everything ok, that shes worried.

When i wfh (same days every week) she txts me asking if im ill because my car is there and she's worried about me.

She txts me while im at work in the middle of the day saying she can hear my dog walking up the stairs and can i get him to stop.

She leaves me cards and jewellery on my door step.

If i bump into her out the front she asks me about my sex life and tells me all about hers.

Help.

OutOfTheHouse · 11/04/2024 18:11

I’ve written about this before but our attached neighbours are odd. We’ve been here about 12 years now. When we first lived here we were in the front bedroom. We soon realised that sometime between 11 and 2 most nights the entire family would get into the car and disappear off for a couple of hours, we would hear them leave and return. No bags of shopping or anything. The youngest child then was about 10. 12 years later and they still do it.
Two adults and the children must both now be over 20. No one goes out of the house much during the day. No one goes to work.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

What a mad world! So many PPs have insane neighbours. Nothing exciting here.

I don't understand how this is possible and my brain won't let it go, could you explain again please or I won't sleep.

We each have the end terrace property and our front doors face each other as they are on the side of each house rather than the front. The pathway to the drives is shared. Both gates open from the shared path but one goes to his drive and the other to ours. He always uses ours and then has to walk to the end of the drive to go around the dividing fence and back down his drive to get to his car.
It's not a bother just a quirk.
