Anyone seen his new stand up tour?
Went last night, was so excited and near the front. I left feeling a bit disappointed. To me it felt like it never really got started, and I never really laughed properly like where you can't breathe. It was ok, aside from the hour of name old adverts.
He also looks unwell? My mums convinced he's poorly.
What's everyone's opinion?

We went in November and really enjoyed it 🤷‍♀️.

JBJ · 12/01/2025 12:32

I went towards the beginning of the tour and enjoyed it, but definitely think he's lost his spark and comedic timing a lot, and there was a lot of rehashed material, particularly in the first half. It felt like he was doing "old stuff" to remind everyone why he was funny. He certainly seemed a bit unsure of himself and wasn't anywhere near as funny as his old stuff.

Doseofreality · 12/01/2025 12:39

We went last year, it was a pleasant evening out. We thought it seemed like he’d suffered a stroke and hadn’t fully recovered.
Sad, but fair play to him for getting out there and continuing to do what he obviously enjoys.

We went to see him at the o2,we came down from up north, very disappointed if I’m honest, didn’t laugh once.

crockofshite · 12/01/2025 13:05

I've seen old clips and shows on TV that he did before disappearing for a few years. Honestly I never understood why people were crying with laughter at his material.

I think his audience have moved on but he hasn't.

Girasole02 · 12/01/2025 16:17

Loved him back in the day but couldn't wait to leave when I saw him recently. The fact that he's still using old photos for the promotional material makes it even harder to dial into how he looks now when he walks onto the stage. Had a cheap ticket but some of the prices are extortionate and I would have felt aggrieved had I paid top dollar.

This line nails it for me… “I think his audience have moved on but he hasn't”

candlelightees · 12/01/2025 17:40

He is still selling out many shows though.

Noel Gallagher but it was a real person definitely.
The choir were holograms which were also convincing but it was a real person. Just obviously not Noel.

People with me were convinced it was though. There would be no way he would do that for every show. 🤣

Noel was on a screen too. We had a side on view so it didn't look like a real person was there at all.

Anyway just reanimating this old thread as went last night and was looking for reviews. I agree with the majority: tired and old fashioned, not funny. Comedy has moved on over the years and this act would have been more fitting in an old man's pub, not the O2.

letsi · 26/01/2025 10:38

if you want to see a naturally brilliant, hilarious comic, go and see Scott Bennett.

Parrotpirate · 26/01/2025 13:31

We saw him years ago, maybe 2010? His book, The Hills are Alive with the Sound of Laughter had just been released. Obviously as a fan I had read it.

We paid a huge amount at the time to see him, I remember it being nearly double than any other comic, and more than Billy Connolly.

He came on and the whole set was word for word what had been in the book. I was absolutely raging. I've never been able to enjoy him since. He went from seeming like a sincere guy who happened to be very funny to a shark just out for whatever money he could grab.

I've seen him interviewed a few times recently and he's also no longer a shy "how did I get here bloke". But seems to have a massive ego and just talks or sings all over the host and utters nonsense until his segment overruns.

HopingForSomeSunshineSoon · 23/02/2025 00:42

We just got back from seeing him...it was bizarre. The songs from adverts was okay to begin with but went in far too long, and then by the time he'd got round to inviting the audience, we'd kinda run out of the well known ones!

So we had "everyone's a fruit and nut case" but nobody knew the next line, including the woman who did it,. Then a bloke did a song "if you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit..." Which Peter Kay pointed out we already did, then two blokes stood up, very excited at started singing a football chant... Confused

The bit with the balloons at the end was the most bizarre thing and more of the same really.

I thought it was David Bowie in the end 😂😂

DurinsBane · 23/02/2025 00:51

Saw him back in July at the O2. I’ve seen quite a few comics, this show was the best yet. Absolutely amazing. The balloon bit was very good as well, if a little strange 😁

Well that would be worth seeing.

HopingForSomeSunshineSoon · 23/02/2025 09:04

I didn't really understand why the holographic guitarist was there tbh.

Or the balloon bit.

It wasn't a football chant it was an ad for Skoll lager. It just used to repeat the words over and over. I enjoyed it. Loved the updated misheard lyrics. Thought some of the show was very funny.

Oh... My mistake 😬

Thought they were saying "goals goals goals"

Goes to show it's all completely lost on some! He even acknowledged that under 30s probably have no clue what was happening for that section.

Also they'd have no idea about the balloon section either!

Farting carrots 🥕💨

People with me will not have it that it wasn't the real Liam Gallagher. It was a hologram!

They won't believe me.

😂 as if he'd hang around all night for a ten minute appearance...

On the side screen, (we couldn't see the back of the main stage) it looked like a real person, but with a CGI head

candlelightees · 23/02/2025 16:09

Oh I know. Absolutely crazy. With the amount of shows too.
