So I’ve just discovered Tattle…

My friend told me about it recently so I thought I’d have a look. So I do have some views on ‘influencers’ showing off their DC before they’re old enough to consent, but blimey, this goes above any beyond that. There is a woman on Istagram called ‘Knee Deep in Life’ I’ve followed her for years and I can see that’s she’s not everyone’s cup of tea but she’s pretty inoffensive but the way she’s been talked about of Tattle is horrible, I don’t know how anyone could describe as anything else other than bullying.

i stopped reading after this and I’m very willing to stand corrected if this was a one off and every thing else is well put together and thought through but suspect that’s not the case. I know MN is in no way perfect but just found it really nasty.

I like tattle.
It's a real mixed bag, and actually a lot of the time they are trying to hold 'influencers' accountable.
Some threads take it too far, but any that I am active on always manage to focus on the issues at hand, and if anyone makes a comment regarding looks, we remind them that actions are what we focus on.
It's not trolling or bullying - it's a discussion forum.

I'll keep the code then!

Yes I think the Clemmie scandal attracted a lot of new tattle members. It was juicy!

Now I do like the Father of Daughters thread on tattle, he is despicable and there are some very funny posters on there.

I have looked at the FOD tattle account in the past and roared with laughter - I agree it’s hilarious. I also look at his Instagram sometimes though, I actually don’t dislike him but he is definitely often very cringey.

ManchesterLu · 07/04/2024 15:58

There is a lot of absolute hateful shit on there, but honestly, it has also opened my eyes to the reality of influencers, too. How all is not as it seems. There are lots of threads that investigate claims made by influencers, and provide proof that things aren't as they say. I mean, don't get me wrong, I know you can't just believe everything you read online - but some of these people are trusted by many people, impressionable people, and they DO have an impact on what people think, do and feel.

I would never want to be a part of the site, but it does give you some great information too.

chicken2015 · 07/04/2024 15:59

I've looked at times the other only thing I find very very weird and quite disturbing is when people will follow people on Instagram or subscribe to YouTube channels and spend time watching certain long videos or listen to reels and spend a lot of time on them to just hate on them, to just slag off everything about them on tattle. I just find it such a toxic really worrying thing to do. I totally get wanting to spend ur free time looking at things that u like. But to actively search out and spend ur time being bitchy about what they are wearing how they look what they say and what they are doing is just disturbing to me 🤔

DungareesAndTrombones · 07/04/2024 16:18

Personally I think it is fucking nuts and the things they write about people and their children is disgusting. The way they keep tabs on influencers "xyz number of nights away since Xmas, xyz number of meals out, xyz number of holidays" is frankly stalkerish and a lot of them need to get a life.

I don't follow any of these so caled influencers but who gives a shiny shite how they spend their time?

There's someone on Instagram who outs Tattlers saying the worst of the worst things and I do enjoy that. If you can dish out shit loads of online abuse and stalk someone round the supermarket them karma is gonna get ya.

Emotionalsupportviper · 07/04/2024 16:20

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 07/04/2024 14:12

It’s hilarious and actually some good posters are surprisingly sympathetic and empathic if there are certain issues they’re going through. They have no truck eg with fat shaming certain influencers but people like Gemma Collins are fair game.

I'd agree with this.

If someone is an arsehole, there is no mercy shown, but where people appear to be genuinely struggling there is a lot of thoughtful empathy.

LadyofLaundry88 · 07/04/2024 16:22

I just found the thread(s!!) on the Princess of Wales before her diagnosis was announced. Utterly disgusting comments being made about her absence and some of the worst posters just disappear after the announcement

I agree with PP, it’s one thing “calling out” influencers (do we need to do this though? I hope most people take most content with a SHOVEL of salt in the era of filters, editing and fancy lighting), and quite another to construct the most vitriolic tripe I’ve ever seen. It’s like reading the Burn Book but there’s no filter to stop it!! Grim!

I've had a look at some things on Tattle including the Jack Monroe thread. For those wondering about why there is one, the wiki about her at the start of each new thread makes very interesting reading. On Tattle and Twitter lots of things were uncovered such as Jack saying she was so poor she had to remove all her lightbulbs and replace with solar lights, when in fact she was raking in a hefty amount each month from her Patreon. Many other interesting things too that led to Jack no longer posting on Twitter. She has however surfaced again on FB. I agree that Tattle can be awful but threads can and have been deleted for legal reasons. Some of the people who post are very funny.

I’ve dipped in and out of Tattle when MN goes through lulls. Agree that some of what is posted is brutal - there’s an instagrammer Brummymummyof2 who takes a relentless pounding every day. The tattlers also really lay into her family including her elder DC, husband, sister and parents. Younger child seems to be liked by them all so he doesn’t get annihilated. If I was her, I’d need to give up being an instagrammer - no amount of money could make up for putting my family through that.

Those on Tattle would say it’s her own fault for living online and exposing her DC to all the abuse but it doesn’t sit well with me as they say such horrible things about her.

Interestingly Tattle claims to be an abuse free zone as per quote below!!

“We have a zero-tolerance policy to any content that is abusive, hateful or harmful and a team of moderators online 24/7 to remove any content that breaks our strict rules, often in minutes.”

Edited

Her children’s images are on the dark web. She knows this but still continues to post photos of them in beachwear, shots of their underwear in her YouTube videos.

It’s frighteningly easy to work out where she lives and where her children go to school. We know everything about them. it’s horrific to think that some evil bastard could use that information.

I had to stop following her as I was so aghast at how she doesn’t protect a single thing about her children’s saftey.

Even Louise Pentland dropped her like a hot potato and deleted everything with her in from her YouTube.

Does anyone have a Tattle invitation code please they'd be willing to inbox me? It says it's currently full and you can only register with an invite code.

Have gone down a proper rabbit hole and wanted to bookmark it for later.

Just save the page to your Home Screen.

Oh yes I remember the mother of daughters scandal - that was huge! I can't believe her husband is still kicking about.

Are they worse than the mumsnet ones? Or the comments all over social media about her? I don’t think MN hs the moral high ground when it comes to this!

This is the thing. MN posters come across that they don’t do anything wrong and Tattle ones are just vile

But spend even 10 mins on AIBU and you will see much worse than you see on Tattle. Only difference is that MN is moderated so posts disappear quicker but the posters are still there

Maybe it’s just the threads I am on, but on Tattle I never see posters rip into each other over simple things such as a typo as much as you see on MN. You may not like the content on some Tattle threads but the posters are much nicer to each other than they are here

Edited as didn’t mean to quote the post I quoted. Just making a general comment

I counted 18 threads tearing the princess of Wales apart on here. Not a post deleted. It was vile across all media

I disagree. I think tattle can be vicious, far worse than MN. I haven't seen anyone on here being vile about how a baby looks but I have on Tattle.

TheShellBeach · 07/04/2024 16:48

Well I love Tattle. There are some interesting Royal Family threads, and the one which pokes fun at MN itself is very funny.

The person who doxxes Tattlers on Instagram needs to have a word with herself. Reporting people to their employers for comments on a forum?

It’s mental.

All that, “good luck when I tell your friends and family” nonsense.

I could imagine dh getting a message, looking bemused, then deleting 🤣

FWIW, I don’t post. I just read from time to time.

I don't think MN is moderated is it except by posters themselves reporting comments

I can only speak for a few threads that I've read o. tattle but no one challenges anything and dissenting opinions about an influencer don't seem to be allowed. At least on here posters are allowed to express a range of opinions

But who is tattling under their real name?

GentlemanJack · 07/04/2024 17:04

I found Tattle when I googled Jack Monroe. Something seemed off about her to me. Lots of things. It was when she adopted a disabled kitten. Mistreated it, and allowed it to die in what must have been terrible pain. All the time people were begging her to seek veterinary attention but no.The kitten was filmed and monetized.
The wiki is astonishing. She needed calling out.

ArrrMeHearties · 07/04/2024 17:09

I love reading tattle. It is better than here I'd say as there is no pearl clutching and people can be adults about what they post
