I’ll start with Ryan Reynolds. He honestly seems completely down to earth, responsive to his fans and likes to have a good joke at his own expense

I always think Ed Balls seems absolutely lovely, but I'm basing that on nothing more than his TV persona and his kind face.

George Michael.
Doris Day
Julie Andrews
Ben Shepherd

SJP & Matthew Broderick paid for dinner for my son-in Law and two of his mates, because they offered them a taste of one of their dishes they'd asked about.

applegreentea · 04/04/2024 16:46

Emma Stone, Keanu Reeves, Kate Winslet, Florence Pugh, Mark Ruffalo all seem genuinely lovely people

I like to think Graham Norton is genuinely nice. He comes across so well in both his show and books.

I met Graham Norton before he was really famous. He was guest on a radio programme and I had to buzz him through to the studio. He was properly nervous and sweet.

Another vote too for Bon Mortimer. I'd love him round to dinner. I think he'd get on well with my friends

Stacey Solomon

Will Young

Matt Baker

Dan Walker

Fern Britton

Caroline Quentin

Sadly a friend worked regularly with Fern for years and said she wasn't very pleasant at all. Apparently she was very rude to anyone she considered junior.

Morethanthis71 · 04/04/2024 16:50

I must also mention Sean Lock. Still sorely missed.

IvanaTinkles · 04/04/2024 16:53

A few people have mentioned Julia Roberts - she is definitely not a nice person. A friend who has been in the film industry for 30+ years has worked with her on a couple of films & says she is the absolute worst person she has ever encountered. Very insecure & even at the height of her career when she was the highest paid actress in Hollywood, she hated having other women around her & would put down & degrade the female crew whilst turning on the charm to the men. Absolutely vile!

Let’s not forget Ricky Gervais’s magnificent Golden Globes presenting spot. Plus his donations and support for animal charities. Plus his non acceptance of radical ‘gender ideology’.

Do these things make him a ‘nice’ person?

Edited

The mocking of disabled and sick children doesn't seem nice.

DaftFlerken · 04/04/2024 16:53

the science one

PupInAPram · 04/04/2024 16:55

Dolly Parton, kind and generous, but also super smart.

I like him on GMB, wish he did it all week instead of Richard Madeley who I find irritating.

Dermot O Leary

Declan Donnelly

I came on here to say both of them x

Members of the public seem to have this thing that when they meet a celeb they want to make it more eventful than it actual is. This means lots of people exaggerate either how 'amazing, wonderful and down-to-earth' a celeb is or, alternatively, how 'horrible, stuck up and fake' they are. In reality I suspect most celebs are pretty normal. I imagine most aren't complete twats as people wouldn't want to work with them (although there are definitely exemptions to that!) As for giving to charity and doing charitable work then that's a fairly standard thing to do especially if you are well off and especially if you want to promote a good image of yourself.

The Beckhams, they bought some expensive equipment for a child I knew.

I've said this before on a similar thread, but I think Jay Blades and all the other Repair Shop people (especially the Teddy Bear Ladies) plus Keith Rich Rose and Siobhan from Pottery Throwdown all seem like lovely people and I want them all to come to my birthday party!

I slightly know Pinball Geoff (friend of a friend) and he's a delight and a hoot.

Dolly Parton should be president/prime minister/God. Giving all those books to millions of kids, employing her family at DollyWood... she's a genuine good one IMO.
Also Joan Bakewell, surely? And Dave Grohl seems to attract nothing but praise and respect.
Mark Rylance, I imagine. Joanna Lumley?
Andy Murray, that rare thing, an outspoken male feminist.

Siobhán McSweeney would be a scream in the pub, I think, but unfortunately is a sad-face will no one think of the transwomen type on social media.
And I used to follow Rose from the Throwdown on SM, but stopped because he said horrible misogynistic things and boasted about how he'd piss on the steps of Downing St (what steps?) if he wasn't allowed to use a women's loo.
I imagine Throwdown Keith being a lovely person though.

I always really liked the look of Emily Blunt. But then I saw a clip of her on the Jonathan Ross show, talking about how fat a waitress in a restaurant was. JR had the good grace not to entertain it for a second.
Keanu Reeves also gets my vote.
Colleagues of my daughter met Bill Murray just the other week, and said he was lovely.

I saw (read??) Emily Blunt talking about that clip that resurfaced from her past. She seemed genuinely mortified and apologetic. I guess we’ve all said stupid things which we said without thinking. I still think EB is a good egg!!
