Inspired by yesterday's thread of the bill splitting karma, which was very uplifting to read, can anyone share any stories where CF got their come uppence? These will be a wonderful read for all especially victims of CF!
I don't have any to offer I am afraid...

My one dates all the way back to Year 5. I put up my hand to ask to go to the toilet but the teacher refuses. I them come forward to her desk to ask her to reconsider and before I can say anything the teacher gets cross, and just as she is yelling at me I throw up all over her desk. I had been feeling really queezy and think I had a tummy bug, but she didn't give me a chance to explain. Certainly felt like karma!

Many years ago I was in hospital, having just given birth to my first child. My DH visited in the evening, then returned to the car to find it wrecked. Some dregs of humanity had tried to steal it from the hospital car park and really messed up the wiring. (The manufacturer had to send someone out from the factory in the end to sort it out). My poor DH was up until the early hours, getting home somehow and then contacting the insurers to arrange recovery and a hire car for the next morning, when he was due to fetch us home from the hospital. It caused a lot of stress and upset at what should have have been a very happy time.

Some weeks later I read in the local paper that the police had witnessed another attempted car theft in the hospital car park and had given chase. The suspect, in an attempt to evade capture, leapt over a wall in the dark. Very sadly, he plunged 50 feet onto the inner city ring road and broke both his legs.

Naturally my husband and I were devastated.

What would your reaction have been if she had burst into tears and said "I've just had a message that my son has been ru over and I'm trying to get to him asap?"

None of us know what is happening in someone else's life.

I'm so sorry for your loss of your pregnancies, but for all you knew she may have been going through something just as traumatic.

Is it really necessary to nitpick with @Wishlist99 over her contribution?

The old ‘you don’t know what she was going through defence’ for vile behaviour is unnecessary and just puts people off from sharing their experiences.

Well that certainly taught your teacher a lesson! 🌹

It means nacho cheese now.

So many posters not RTFT.

I sit down to write a MN post. It will be long. It will be intense. It will be outing. I can't face it alone. Nacho Cheese for this.

Ooh just realised I do have a story, not as good as the others though!

My family were on holiday at a centre parcs and we were walking to the main village. My dad has been disabled since he was a child with arthritis and was using a sit-on electric scooter to be able to get around. This was the early noughties and where he was only in his 30s, had saved and got himself a more sporty looking mobility scooter.

Anyway, as we’re all walking along amongst lots of other people with my dad riding ahead, a random man felt the need to comment. He looked down to his young daughter and said ‘Look Sophie, that’s what you call lazy.’ Me, my mum and brother were right next to them. My mum very quickly looked down and said in her sweetest most patronising voice ‘No Sophie, that’s what you call disabled.’ Grin

Lots of smirks and awkward looks from other walkers but he didn’t say anything else and we all went on our merry way.

I bought him a king size Twix for his support.

You can get a King Size Twix? 😍😍😍

They are the size that a normal Twix used to be about 10 to 15 years ago....such is the way of shrinkflation 😆

I jest. You can. No idea about size comparison.

WappityWabbit · 11/04/2024 08:38

@Soubriquet I’m so sorry that your dad was such a bastard to you. 😢Ignore the snowflake trigger warning gang who like nothing better than to police the threads. Their opinions are irrelevant.

For a horrible moment there my heart sank . . . you don't care whose heart you break, do you Look? 😢

However you redeemed yourself by confirming that they are apparently easily available.

Thanks Enormo-Cob fans, he was lovely - chestnut and white, dim as a Toc-H lamp and his only real flaws were falling asleep at a walking pace (with the dreadful result that he'd fall over his own face), and later in life he took up the unusual hobby of sitting on car bonnets if they were too close to his bum.

Fortunately I only experienced the former from on-board once, and the latter was reported to me by his real Mum!
He retained his love of landrovers all his life, landrovers = bales of hay and sacks of feed.

Enormo-Cob reminds me of an incident quite a few years back. Out riding with a friend who owned, what sounds like Enormo-Cob’s long lost sister, Bella. Huge thing, shiny bay with great big white feathered feet and generally totally unflappable.

This idiot in one of those little sporty cars zooms up to us, slams on the brakes and beeps his horn. My horse leaps into the air, Bella shoots backwards, lands her bum on the bonnet, crumpling it, jumps forward and kicks the car twice then swings round and smashes it with her front feet like trying to kill a snake or something. The guys face was an absolute picture and his car was a hell of a mess.
We got her checked out just in case she’d hurt herself but there wasn’t a mark or tender spot on her.

You're a grown up with your own money - you can just buy 2 Twixs if you want! Twixs? Twixes? Twixi? What's the plural of Twix?! Is it Twix?!

I've been suitably chastised 😁
I won't do it again...😉

2 Twixes, Twix, Twixs, Twixi, Twives - or whatever are not the same.

In the same way that a 4-finger kit-kat is more than twice as satisfying as two, 2-finger kit-kats (and the rare and elusive FIVE-finger kit-kat is better than THREE, 2-finger ones, even though there are more fingers in the latter), there is a psychological element to satisfaction which can only be fulfilled by a GIANT TWIX.

There's probably research studies on it and everything.

I hope that your friend wasn't held liable for the repairs.

Are horses insured for kicking cars to death?

I'm always very careful about passing horses (and cyclists and joggers) personally, as I dread that one of them will take fright/ have a heart attack/ look at me funny and there will be an accident.

I have no idea if horses ever collapse and fall on, or in front of, very tiny cars, but I wouldn't want to risk it.
