Me and DH bemoaning the fact that we haven't been out for dinner for ages. DS wants to this week as an Easter treat. We're now at loggerheads. DS wants Wagas. I want Pizza Express. DH wants Thai.

Where did you go last and, more importantly, what did you have??

I go all the time and only recently realised how often as I started a diet. Recent places have included a smart hotel for afternoon tea, Wagamamas (I had ramen), brunch in a hip bistro (pancakes), a French restaurant (steak), and a British cuisine place (feta salad), all in central London. Of those, the food I enjoyed most was the feta salad - full of grains, green beans, seeds, etc.

Yesterday! We went to a local canteen style place where they have all kinds of cuisines on offer, it’s fab when you can’t decide what you want. Me and DS1 got Vietnamese, DP and DS2 got Greek food. We’ve been before and got pizzas and Burmese - so much to try.

I was actually thinking recently that me and DP haven’t been out to dinner by ourselves since last July.

Easter Sunday. One of those Chinese banquets where you have a platter of starters, crispy duck, soup and then as many mains as you can manage. £113 for 4, including 3 beers and a tea.

Now all our kids have left home we eat out whenever we like, at least 3 times a week, except in the Uni holidays when the kids rudely come home and want Mum's cooking. Last time was Monday and we shared some tapas. We were going to go out tonight but it's torrential rain here and we can't be arsed so going tomorrow instead. I love my kids with all my heart but I do love empty nest life!

Does lunch count?
Had a lovely Turkish mezze in Tynemouth recently.

We hardly ever eat out as DH can't manage portion sizes these days (he has had gastric surgery for cancer and can only eat little and often now).
