Me and DH bemoaning the fact that we haven't been out for dinner for ages. DS wants to this week as an Easter treat. We're now at loggerheads. DS wants Wagas. I want Pizza Express. DH wants Thai.

Where did you go last and, more importantly, what did you have??

Fab gastro pub in North Yorkshire on Saturday night. With family. Excellent food.

Saturday, went for Italian.
I've given up on pizza express, it's so expensive now.

Interesting that’s what I think. Used to be great value place to go but it’s been sold on so many times and has so much debt and the repayments have to come from somewhere lol..

Easter Sunday lunch at a beautiful country pub. We usually eat out about once a week

TheLongThinTetrisStick · 03/04/2024 20:01

To be fair, I'm only pushing for PE as I have Tesco vouchers!

2 nights ago for Korean fried chicken. It was delicious. We don't have any chain restaurants in the town I live, all independents and some incredible ones. If it wasn't so expensive or I was rich, I would eat out so much more.

We try and do something every 2 weeks or once a month if it's a tight month. We both work ft and have no kids.

About a month ago for my birthday with son and DIL to a local restaurant which is in the Michelin guide and which none of us had been to before. Food was absolutely fantastic, we had wings, soup, steaks and fish, chocolate pudding, lemon tart, cheeseboard, which sounds very straightforward but it was elevated to the very highest level with incredible flavours and combinations of ingredients added, great atmosphere, the place was full. It was expensive at about £100 per head including a cocktail each, the cheapest bottle and half bottle of wine, but worth every penny.

I'd choose Thai from those options. We went out to a steakhouse on Friday.

This time last year for DH's birthday.
DH hates eating out and only went because it was a big birthday with our adult DC. 😕

2 or 3 weeks ago, lost track of time!

Anyway went to a new Indian buffet AYCE , £20 a head.
Was really nice.

Going to take the kids at some point.

I went to a local Japanese restaurant on Easter Sunday with the kids and some friends. I had mixed fish and vegetable tempura for starter and pork belly donburi for mains which came with a very good miso soup.

I just got back from having a meal at a Turkish restaurant, I had an aubergine and lamb dish…it was delicious.

Early February for our son’s 27th birthday, we went to a local Indian restaurant. We were originally planning to go to our favourite Chinese restaurant but when I called the week before they were fully booked on the night that we could all go.

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 03/04/2024 20:35

A relative took me to a nice fish restaurant last week - I had Moules, and coley pan fried with chorizo etc.

Don't do Pizza Express, that's a waste of going out for dinner. You can buy one in a box, usually half price! Do Wagamama or Thai. Whichever you do, make a promise of a date for the other next time.

wendywoopywoo222 · 03/04/2024 20:35

Just got home from a lovely meal at Miller and Carter.

Kneeslikethese · 03/04/2024 20:36

Last night. Local Indian restaurant, it was lovely.

theeyeofdoe · 03/04/2024 20:38

We went to a Japanese BBQ restaurant last week. DS and I (we rarely all eat out any more as it’s too expensive. We had a selection of beef, prawns, rice, gyoza, miso soup and kimchee.

Bluevelvetsofa · 03/04/2024 20:38

About three weeks ago to the local branch of The Giggling Squid. The time before that was exactly a year ago.

SwordToFlamethrower · 03/04/2024 20:38

Mothers day. Beach front restaurant, it was lovely!

Hagpie · 03/04/2024 20:39

We go to a Harvester-type restaurant about once a month. It’s purely to make sure the kids remember how to behave when we’re eating out and don’t act like little shits somewhere important!

I think I had a burger? Not my fav. Anyway, I vote Wagamamas!

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 03/04/2024 20:41

Last night. Pub quiz and pub grub with another couple.

ErnestCelendine · 03/04/2024 20:50

Tapas at a Lounge bar last week - maple bbq chicken wings, cheddar and sweetcorn fritters, and bang bang cauli.

Xylophonics · 03/04/2024 21:00

Local Indian, mid Feb. It was v nice.

Butteredtoast55 · 03/04/2024 21:03

The week before last for Thai with some friends. I had a vegetable massaman curry and sticky rice. Yum!

LBOCS2 · 03/04/2024 21:06

On Saturday we went up to town and ended up in a Pho, for Vietnamese food.

We also had takeaway this evening as I didn't have any inclination to cook 😳

TheChosenTwo · 03/04/2024 21:06

Friday Saturday and Monday night!
Friday to a nearby pub with the family as dc1 was home from uni for Easter so we went for a pub dinner, Saturday for Thai out with some friends and then Monday was unexpected as I had to travel to a friend who is unwell and took a turn for the worse, I went for dinner with my cousins after spending the day in the hospital. That was a weird Mediterranean place.
I do go out to eat quite a lot though, it’s one of my favourite social things to do.
